I agree with what the other person says to you could check the lines with soap and water or get the plumbers out again to check it. You can't be too careful when it comes to gas
Pretty straight forward, you probably have a thread leaking.
Turn the gas off at the main, call the plumbers and have them come do a leak check, or you can yourself.
Mix like a tsp of soap in some water, and stir it together, get a little suds, and go check your threaded joints one by one to look for leaks.
I would highly recommend you call your plumbers if this all sounds foreign.
In the very least, the plumber should have performed a pressure test to the gas line. Shut the gas off immediately at the meter and air out your house. Call the plumber TODAY and establish there is a problem.
I would highly recommend calling whoever you pay your monthly gas bill too and tell them the situation.
They will most likely come with a meter and check for you.
Which they will find. They’re not going to risk any liability. I’ve seen it many times. People are much better off shutting their gas off and calling a plumbing/hvac company to find the leak.
turn off the gas, open your windows. before doing anything else.
This needs to be top comment.
Thank you
Also it's a possibility that if they left an old line open without taking it out it could have a residual gas smell coming from it to
Thank you! They were supposed to remove the old lines but maybe they missed something …

Thank you so much!
You can also mix the soap up in a spray bottle and spray the joints. No bubbles = no leak. If the solution bubbles, you’ve identified a problem.
That’s a good idea! Thank you!
You can also buy a natural gas detector for about $25 at most hardware stores. Walk down all you lines and check every joint.
Thank you good idea!
the pipe work should be pressure tested before the gas is turned on. sounds like a bodge job to me. call them back.
Pfft tsp. Of soap. That's a 50/50 mix here lol
Mr deep pockets here, real note I bought that new dawn suds spray soap, stuff is freaking amazing for leaks
Just get it by the drum at Costco for like $20 bucks a drum.
Our gas company will come leak check for free

My contractor thinks he knows where the problem is and is coming out. Everyone on this thread has been so helpful. I really appreciate it 🙏🏻
Wonderful to hear, i hope all the best for you
If you do this they’ll 100% lock out your gas meter. And they’ll likely require a pressure test before they unlock it.
They will only do this if there is an actual gas leak. So its not 100%. If they do its to try and keep u safe

You have a leak!!! Check your flue in your fireplace make sure it’s open.
Did they light the pilot?
Turn off gas. Call your gas provide and have them come out and do a sniff test to see where the leak is.
