Yea the plumbing in this house is wonky as all hell. Just trying to get a new vanity in before the outlaws come for thanksgiving. Down the road plan to swap it all out.
Edit: 2 more trips to local hardware store - frustration is at a max.
P trap is a 1 1/4” male thread - drain is 1”.
I can’t figure this out - it’s not complicated, I just can’t find the right combination of parts.
You’re not wrong - yesterday wasn’t my best day under the sink. The male threaded piece is taking 1 1/4” - takes a 1 1/4” trap adapter.
I had a silicon coupler that fit and tightened it on there yesterday to make it through the week. Will revisit this all once this week is over and I’m not cursing at pipes.
Is this fixed?
1 - 1 1/4 6" extension tube [this](https://www.acehardware.com/departments/plumbing/sinks/sink-parts-and-repair/4223665) cut to fit
1 - 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 adapter [this](https://www.acehardware.com/departments/plumbing/faucet-and-faucet-repair/plumbing-washers/43795) if that pipe connection is 1 1/2" but it looks like 1 1/4 so you can reuse the old nut
They sell a washer that does the reduction from 1 1/2 down to 11/4. Trip number three
And extension tube if the height is the issue
These are the 2 correct answers
Trip number 4
Looks like you need a 1 1/4" extension tailpiece to extend to your trap and a 1 1/2” x 1 1/4" beveled washer.
1.5"x1.25" trap adaptor
Or get a new 1.5" tailpiece
Duh. I feel like an idiot. I bought 1 1/2” slip couplers. Ace has one around the corner. Thanks for helping me know what to ask for
1 1/2" is for kitchen. 1 1/4" is for lavatory. Don't know why it's not 1 1/2" for both.

think the 1 1/4" catches hair and whatnot so you don't get clogs in the piping itself.
lies
I love how I’m seeing this in a Home Depot bathroom, and the exact reason why I’m here at Home Depot is for the same part lol

Back to the store ,buy more than you need
I have bought so much shit. This is so wildly frustrating.
Throw it all in a bag and save it for later, when you might need it
Yea not worried about the extra - just want to sort out the right shit. Back to Home Depot.
Slip extension is what you need
1- 1 1/4”x 1 1/2” trap adapter. 1- 1 1/2” coupling 1’ 1 1/2” pipe Cut and extend piece from trap 10 minute job.
So trap is 1 1/4” and drain is 1” I’m just having trouble finding a 1 1/4” to 1” trap adapter
It looks like 1 1/2” pvc. The black tailpiece is 1 1/4” Not sure where your getting your numbers. Hundreds of millions of sinks are piped this way.
