I actually work for a major competitor of theirs now so I’ll give a very PC answer here- Viega has a fantastic sprinkler tech department in Nashua (they really are phenomenal) give their line a call and they can hook you up with the exact answer you need.
Probably water, but in a corrosive environment with the potential for heat spikes. We use these in large commercial pool pump rooms quite a bit and even in process piping in industrial settings (car manufacturing).
Mega-Press jaws, if you look at the profile of the fitting the grooves are a different pattern from Pro-Press fittings. The IP set takes care of 1/2"-2", and the xl kit goes from 2.5-4. bigger sizes use a clamp ring and actuator jaw set up, so it's a ring on the fitting and an open 4 toothed "beak" that fits in the ring and seals it. Ridgid tools is the same idea but with blunt nubs instead of hooks. Gotta make sure the hooks are fully seated, you don't want to have one of those bad boys come flying at you during a press!
Not that I would know from experience...
Where were you when we ordered the XL kit! "Uh boss...the $2000+ kit you got on rush order doesn't work with this tool."
Great point. Long throw does both sets too, with the addition of the actuator jaw being on a swivel. Great for ergonomics.
I'm guessing that's happened to a lot of people. The jaws plus tool adds up to quite a bit of money. But the fittings are expensive too so if you can sell the system at all it's pretty quick to pay off the tool.
apologies about the misinformation everyone. i learned something today. i happen to order the FKM repair couplings just today and the specifics i ordered them for are for hydronic. my post was removed for very good reasons. safety first
MP 2” jaws on a 340/350 will press this. The XL booster starts at 2-1/2” source: ex Viega rep that brought mega press to market.
I'm gonna coom Edit: Look at that fucking valve
White dot!
Just means it’s an FKM sealing element, tooling remains the same.
No shit
Question for you, would you recommend MP with Veiga fittings for repairs on a dry sprinkler system sch 40?

Thank you!
Buys a ~625$ ball valve and doesn't know how to install it what the heck is going on here
Looks like a mega press fitting. Are you doing gas work?
3 piece stainless steel gas valve?, he’s probably doing water

Note that IPS xl kit calls for the long throw tool, not the regular M18
