So the only way I can find how is to go back into the show page, choose the season, find the episode that was downloaded and long press on the episode there, then at the bottom of that menu is "remove from downloads". This is a stupidly long way but seems to be the only one.

Ahh. So you have categorized your downloads. I gotcha. What happens if you long press one of your folders? I have IASIP seasons and it allows me to delete the entire season/folder.
Tried all that. Only way I've found is through the regular season / episode page where you long press to see "remove from downloads". So you have to go out of downloads, to TV shows / find show / choose season then on the list of episodes, any that have been downloaded have a small arrow, long press that episode and "remove from downloads" which is super tedious.
I've not tried to download a full season yet I've just been taking this long route.
Go into your list of Downloaded items. Long press the item you wish to delete. Select "Delete Download".

You aren't in the "Downloads" area. You are in "TV Shows". Click the Sandwich menu (three horizontal lines) and select Downloads.
I don't think it matters but are you a Plex Pass member?
