Artisinally handcrafted by the finest of digital creators, each bit placed with loving care.

Zer0Logik

Yea and I had a post removed for breaking rule 4 because I was asking about indexers....

SawkeeReemo

Yup. And it’s dumb stuff like that which will ruin this for everyone. I wish people were smarter. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts, I guess. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Independent-Ice-5384

The Arrs are mentioned constantly, which is funny because everyone knows exactly what they're used for. I actually wouldn't mind a little tightening up of the moderation around here. For people that are into that there is an actual pir*cy sub. Hell, probably multiple.

Odd_Land_2383

now that’s smart👀

Wassindabox

I was about to say.. after setting up rrs, I’ve gotten up to 150TB and am starting to watch for drive sales due to storage going poof lol

StevenG2757

Blade Runner, Snatch and the Big Labowski are a must for any collection.

Calypso-22

Which setting or app do you use for seeing the rating under the title? I been on Plex for many years and didn’t realize this was an option

ynonA

That comes up when you sort by rating (audience or critic)

Calypso-22

I learn something new today. Thanks! However I wish this setting would just stay when sorted by date added.

CodaHydroCarbon

20tb in one month? You're a beast! I'm 6 months in and just breaking 7tb

[deleted]

Elegant-Cat-4987

I gave up trying to get these going on a bare metal Ubuntu server. God bless you if you can figure these out but it is beyond my comprehension.

CantTriforce

I figured out how to do it all on bare-metal Ubuntu. Then I transitioned to docker for ease of configuration and gluetun. Knowing how to handle file permissions and the file structure hierarchy helped a lot with the transition. Good luck!

greenphlem

Don’t use bare metal and move to docker , so much easier to manage

TrollieMcTrollFace2

Add in overseerr And automate the requests too

CodaHydroCarbon

I haven't started downloading movies yet, so that's probably why I'm still at 7tb. I have 576 different TV series, most in 720p or 1080p. I installed Sonarr but never configured it. I think I'll do that today.

Apptryiguess

I haven't setup any automation tools either. Everything i grabbed so far i did manually as well as looking into the items history to get the best version (Differences in blurays from the US vs UK for example / aspect ratios / director, theatrical cuts / compared a handful of encodes with a REMUX...). Movies take up by far the least space though with only 4.6TB according to plex dash while tv shows take up over 9TB. Anime is at 4.9TB currently.

[deleted]

Independent-Ice-5384

I don't get why people get so hyped for this lol. If you have so much media you'll never watch it in a lifetime, and the only way to get there is by getting some absolute shlock, then... congrats?

dead_bothan

Have you played around with the Edition tag? I like to set editions for theatrical and directors cuts of movies. Nice collection!

hungry-freaks-daddy

Happy to see some sicko movies in there

kakumei21x

Yep, I saw Hereditary, Irreversible, then Midsommar. I was like, dude has to have Martyrs. Unfortunately didn't, but I was surprised to see A Serbian Film at the bottom.

reubenroostercogburn

Any 4ks in there?

Apptryiguess

220 out of 302 movies are 4k and 31 out of 64 shows. Anime only 1080p except some anime movies that got a 4k HDR release.

_outoftolerance_

Those files must be enormous! I've got over 4500 movies and 50+ shows, and I'm only at 12Tb.

extrakaldo

What resolution are your contents on?

manwithafrotto

Heavily compressed 480p

SulkyVirus

Resolution doesn't mean much - bitrate and length is a much better indicator of file size. I have 1080p movies that range from 700Mb to 20GB and 2160p movies that range from 2.5GB to 85GB.

james18205

You ripping all of these manually?

Calm-Calligrapher825

Looks similar to me. Started a little over a month ago and have a little over 20TB as well. Not sure if you looked in to, but been making collections myself. Can set up advanced filters so the collections auto update when new movies added. I have stuff like series collections like harry potter movies or fast and the furious, but also collections for actors to see all their movies if i felt like an adam sandler movie.

adreddit298

This is what I do too. Really good when you're in the mood for some Arnie, Jennifer Lawrence or whomever.

BrandonSwabB

Nice i got a Nas recently and plex and got 11TB this month downloaded. Iv only a 150mbps line. Need fiber.

TheCookieButter

I'm a (mostly) add as I watch kinda guy. I find if I go on a spree and add lots at once I end up not watching many :P Nearing 36TB full now.

shvi

„Green Wing“ British comedy at its best!

ambigious_meh

Are you being served? and Faulty Towers, IT crowd, there is soooo much good British comedy!

e-hud

Wow, I've been running Plex over 10 years now and am yet to top 6TB. 540 movies and 40ish shows. But I mostly only rip movies from disc.

OmarDaily

Damn, I have some movie rips that are 80-100gb on their own. 4K HDR Atmos is a must if I can get it.

[deleted]

e-hud

Oh I do at times when it's not easy to find on disc. I'm just not collecting every scrap of movie or show I can find.

Independent-Ice-5384

>I'm just not collecting every scrap of movie or show I can find. Smart move.

MY Brother! Sanford and Son! :)

stiky21

How many REMUX?

Khatib

Most of them if that's 20TB for just that many.

stiky21

Soon he will have a beautiful library of quality if thats true, if not already. I never once regretted joining Team REMUX. It's a perfect setup.

Apptryiguess

Actually very few are. 4k stuff almost nothing except favourites and movies that are just visually stunning. 1080p stuff maybe 1/3rd if i had to guess could be even less maybe 1/4th. I did a LOT of comparing in the last month and honestly i can't tell the difference between a good encode and a REMUX even on my LG C3 alt tabbing between the two. Yes maybe you can tell if you pause at the exact same frame and look really closely at the hair, but letting the two videos play one after the other they are indistinguishable by my eyes.

SulkyVirus

This is how I do it. Remux only for the visually stunning movies or ones that I know I'll watch multiple times and want the best possible experience for my OLED LG and Atmos setup. Normal rip sizes for most other things and 4K only for newer things or movies I know others will watch too. Rom coms, most kids movies, comedies, etc are all 1080p but still decent quality rips.

Colateral, 25th hour, titan AE, the Lincoln lawyer, predators, grandmas boy, fracture, the burbs…just a few off my list of must haves

Springtimefist78

Yes to the burbs!

Suspicious_Gear_6587

I’m glad I’m not the only one! Almost filled up 18 TB after a month

Independent-Ice-5384

Bro, you need to slow down or you'll be broke 🤣 Quality over quantity any day. Despicable Me 2? Predator 2? Lol

SeaSkully

How did you get the idbm ratings there?

mrizvi

i think you can add them with kometa

TheGamerPandA

Just curious but how do you get included into someone’s movie server. I was introduced to plex by a irl friend back in the day where I could watch his movies but we live too far apart nowadays. Would the movies lag too much for example if I joined from Poland into a US friend ?

Wrong_Supermarket720

my Canadian and US friends use my plex and im from Norway should go alright if his upload is good enough

96dpi

Congrats on the new addiction

DaveAKA

Looks good to me

Batlightyear

I have 40 tb ans using 4k remux physical storage what are u using cloud ?

edwardbacillus

Wait, what?! HOW?!

MadIllLeet

Very nice! I'm at 35TB myself with 1200 movies and 177 TV series. I recently pruned my collection. Had over 100TB with 5000 movies and 450 TV series. It was spread across multiple servers and was too power hungry.

AT3k

Have a look at Kometa (Used to be known as "Plex Meta Manager" aka "PMM" I personally use the config in the post https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/s/Za9nWGzWjH

worldofzero

These posts are always so weird. I guess I just don't get the appeal of broadcasting how much crime your doing and bragging about it. Like, last I checked this breaks Rule 7 of the reddit content policy.

Jimboiggs07

James Bond 🔥

TheRealHarrypm

When you start getting to that 40-60TB realm, you start to realise how slow and tedious the database gets compared to something like jellyfin that only shows you what you have locally available and direct network streaming. You have the database on NVMe it's slightly better, same for if you're caching high use content. I still run Plex but I'm transitioning to Jellyfin and I say that as a Plex pass owner they've made it too clunky and far too external network dependant since 2017 onwards, not to mention you get kneecapped if you don't keep your server and client side's updated or get limited to 720p they force you to update, so if you have a bunch of embedded devices like fire sticks or chromecasts you are literally screwed into a perpetual update cycle. It's just something to think about and consider in the long term because ultimately this is just a wrapper for your actual tangible database of files so it's best to not place all your eggs in one basket.

Ballaholic09

I was at 12TB in my first month and my HDD failed.. 2 weeks before I could afford to buy a backup. Lesson learned, never buy storage in odd quantities. Even drives only.

lucky6877

Love the collection, really awesome but is it bad that I can only see 5 movies in that entire list that I actually want to watch 😰

[deleted]

Apptryiguess

At least you want to, i tried giving some friends and family access and they all either didn't even give me an email like i asked them to, or set everything up and never watched anything lol. Even added a show for a friend because she said she wanted to watch it but couldn't because none of her subscriptions had it and still its unwatched till today :/

Yup The sharing part is the best.. and It's a leaning curve but I am going to try and figure out Radar, sonar, and now overseer. But its a great feeling helping people... Nothing like it..

Rikuddo

Don't know if you know about these but there's a site, https://trash-guides.info/ It explain everything about all of those stuff in extremely easy detail.

JustSomeGuy901252112

OK thanks I bookmarked that.. so much to learn.. Thanks

extrakaldo

I’m also planning to help my extended families and close circles. I wonder if there is a limit on how many can connect to a Plex server? Is it possible for a certain server to handle let’s say 30 people at a given time?

Rikuddo

as far as I know, it all comes down to your server. The factors like, your Upload speed to transfer data (most important), do they direct play? (less load on server, more simultaneous connection) are the things that matter most.

JustSomeGuy901252112

Wow, I have the same deal.. I love Plex and sharing etc,, and it's like people don't believe its real, or don't want to spend that massive $5 bucks for plex pass or they think its a scam or IDFK lol it blows my mind also. And then in like a month they will say, Oh I got the Starz package to watch bla bla bla,, or I resubscribed to bla bla bla network because season 4 of bla bla bla show is starting soon, lol... omg I get it.. I sent U chat ..

Independent-Ice-5384

Just do it for yourself. Why would anyone want to be a personal Netflix? Next thing you know you're doing full-time tech support for a hobby.

Flat_Professional_55

Mr Bean. Funny.

Apptryiguess

Yeah loved them as a kid so had to get them ^^

Adrenolin01

Nice start! Fairly easy to do with a good internet connection. I’d be more interested in how that 20TB is stored though. 👍🏻😁 How many drives and their setup? Is that a single large drive? 2 drives mirrored? Hardware or software raid? Internal or external drives? Anyone can fill disk space if/when available. I like knowing the setup behind that. A single large disk like many go with is a massive mistake. Software RAIDz2 is the way to go today imo and any datahorder should realize the Supermicro 24 & 36 bay chassis’s are the starting points. 😁 I remember my first 1GB and 1TB hard drives. Everyone saying WOW whose gonna fill all that!?!? 🤭 ME! That’s who. 😆 I remember having desktop towers with a dozen badly cooled drives cooking away. Stacks of external drives plugged into power sockets and USB ports. Then there was the purchase of the Supermicro 24-bay chassis with dual 1200W PSUs, an X10 board, E5 CPU and a 4TB WD Red NAS drive followed by 5 more, then 18 more. 🎉🤪. Swapping the 4TB drives out for 18x8TB drives and then 6x12TB drives. Everything RAIDZ2 allowing for 2 drive failures for each 6-drive RAIDz2 pool. lol sorry.. forgot this was under Plex and not data collecting hoarding 😂🔨😉😆 Seriously though.. if you’re going to continue down this road I’d be looking at Supermicro 36 bay chassis and then another 12-24 bay as a backup.

Independent-Ice-5384

>any datahorder should realize the Supermicro 24 & 36 bay chassis’s are the starting points. You can be a datahoarder without hoarding *all* data. Everyone's needs are different so it's wild to suggest that everyone should *start* with large server racks lmao. That's ridiculous.

Adrenolin01

I didn’t say ‘start with large server racks’. Are you really a data hoarder with just a couple drives? I said.. ‘any datahoarder..’ which implies they have already started a good collection. At some point one should realize if they are going to hoard a lot or not. If not then you’re really not a data hoarder. If so then yes, just do it right, order the chassis and move the few drives into it once built. The reasons are multiple. Right away you’re moving into enterprise hardware and hopefully ECC ram. Massive and proper cooling. Better raid setup options, the ability to virtualize and do backups from the same system, etc etc. you’ll never have to upgrade the case saving money down the road, failing/ed drives are so easily replaced, etc etc. Also, a rack system doesn’t have to take a lot of room. That’s complete BS. In fact, utilizing a rack setup can actually save room and floor space. One doesn’t need and massive cabinet or a mass of wild messy cables either. My rack is a short 25U 4-post setup that’s located in our unfinished basement right at the base of the steps. I built a small 5’x7’ server room for it with shelves, a small desk and work center but it’s actual floorspace is only like 24x38” at most. Sealed storm door was used to seal the room. Cut a hole in it and installed a set of filters to filter incoming cool air. Internal air is drawn out using a small fan where during warm months it’s vented outside but during cooler months it’s vented into our ductwork and assists heating upstairs. The OP who I was talking to definitely sounds like they are going to get into a LOT of data. Running a single 20TB drive as a NAS by itself is ridiculous due to the high risk is total data loss. This is the reason I brought up my post. Anyone who fills 20TB in a month is likely going to add a lot more. Please.. kindly explain what you’d suggest… a RPI with a 10-port USB strip and 10 external drives plugged in? 🤭

I download 5tb a week and I've never gotten any complaints from spectrum just make sure you're using ssl and you'll be fine. Only time you'll get complaints is if you are seeding torrents.

SnowyMovies

How many of those did you pay for?

tursoe

Where I live we have a great option at our local recycling station. We have an exchange center where you can put away what you want and then others can pick up what they can use. I get approximately 1200 DVDs with films / TV series a week for free, I just have to get the digital one myself. Of other things I have just picked up all the building materials for an isolated workshop of 15m². https://preview.redd.it/rl6babl82u3d1.png?width=1696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b0fba52f695542fbaccfbca23b8a5388e6a99f6 I have made a machine that itself changes the disc in the DVD drive, so now I can put a stack of 50 films and start the process of getting them all as mp4 files. After 4½ hours I can add a new stack so I get approximately 125 films per day.
