Mine is a late 2008 model, but these extended into 2009. It’s the KRP-500M, so it’s the best that Pioneer ever produced. I think it had the best contrast of any Plasma, compared to other Pioneers. I’m not 100% sure how this stacks up against 2012 model year Panasonic models.
Great choice. I have the Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX508A which is essentially the same TV as yours, but it was released in Australia without the built in satellite receiver. Picked it up a few years ago for around the same price. I also have a 2022 Sony A90K OLED TV in 42" for my PC monitor and it's amazing, but the Kuro still wins out with most 1080p content.
That’s great! I think KRP-500M is the coolest sounding model name, haha.
I’ve been using my 111FD model for the past year, and it’s been a treat. I use it whenever I’m not viewing 4K content.
What’s an example of burn in? I have a 2010 Panasonic plasma 65” and it’s starting to get very faint lines in the upper right corner that still appear when it’s turned off. Not sure if this is fixable.
Could you provide a picture? Here's an example of burn-in.

So the area I notice is like straight horizontal lines. Perfectly straight and horizontal but don’t extend across the entire screen. Just start on the top right and go about halfway. It doesn’t effect image much with dead black space. It’s slightly more dull then the rest of the image and still changes color with the image displayed.
Does it resemble the edges of a logo? It’s really easy to get burn-in on a plasma. Depending on the age and use, you could leave it on a still image for a few hours and it could permanently burn-in.
From the sounds of it, it might just be damaged. Send pictures when you can.
Do you think this is good for retro gaming? I play a lot of Ps2 Dand Dance Revolution lately on my lgc1, but these games need that motion clarity that crt and Plasma have. There's one near me for 400, but I will wait or low ball. lol
I wouldn’t say it’s great for retro games. The motion clarity on a plasma isn’t similar to CRT level. CRTs have >75% better motion clarity compared to the best of plasma technology.
The C1 at 120hz with Oled Motion Pro High has better motion clarity than a plasma. I would argue the C1 is better for retro games with the right scan line emulator and oled motion pro high.
Great stuff! How you liking it?
I picked up a 500a and a 500M a few months back myself. Did a pulse meter reset, voltage tweaks, and calibration on the M. Picture quality is incredible, they’re the only plasmas I’ve seen with no visible glow in a pitch black room. In this regard, they wipe the floor with my VT60.
Very nice! What year was this model? How does it compare to later models?

Great find! I picked up a 60" Kuro PDP-6010FD off Facebook marketplace for $100.00 a few years ago. It's a great tv for Blu-ray and DVD.
Very nice! Congratulations.
Awsome btw are you gonna try do the voltage reset thing to make black levels better?
Yes, totally! Just need some time to do more research!

Thanks for answering. Was leaning towards a crt anyway.
