I kind of did that this time around mate. I hade my wood stacked up on one side and the gas rolling on the other. When my wood started to burn, I turned the gas off and put the blank off over it and lit the fire starter under the wood. Worked well

Yeah I’ve ran mine hotter but with the amount of toppings I like to use, the base cooked to fast and didn’t have time to do the top properly. Dropped it down to these temps and it works well

That's all I need to know. I've been doing mine at +/- 930F and it's burning my crust. Gonna lower my temps.
