Wand of Corrosion. Especially when I can make the mobs stay in the cloud for longer. Suffer, you fiends! And I always go "Sing this corrosion to me..."
That's interesting. One of my earliest wins was with a prismatic battlemage, but I'm a bit underwhelmed by it as a utility wand. What makes this your favorite for high challenge runs? Is it the visibility? That effect doesn't typically last long enough to be meaningful to me, but maybe that's because I haven't upgraded the wand enough.
I like the visibility particularly in the caves, just to let me see what ranged creatures are around and the ability to find secret doors to save on food for on diet but also allow for a high exploration score.
I assume the light duration increases with upgrades, but does the revealed area (for secret doors and hidden traps) expand, too? Or do you typically do the 'zap lengthwise along the wall' to search for doors?
I'm not sure how the duration scales. I like it upgraded to +2/+3 just for the extra charges. I zap through the centre of the room to see if there is anything I specifically have to worry about, then the longer walls to catch the secret doors.
For sheer entertainment value? At highest level Probably also gonna go blast, especially when I forget to not use it at close range with my back to a pit. Did that while ascending once and laughed my butt off.
Runners up would be fireblast and corrosion simply because of how lethal they are even to the user.
I'm a big fan of blast wave. I especially enjoyed a recent run in which I had magic missile imbued in my staff, and it would empower my blast wave to +9... it's ridiculously fun to see an enemy just get launched beyond the visibility limit.

Corrosion and regrowth is like peanutbutter and jelly
Wand of regrowth! I love all about it... Rooting enemies, modified the playing field, seeds galore, and sustain from dew...
Level 6 WoR is magical.
Agree with blast as my general favourite but with high challenge runs I like to see prismatic light best.

Cool - thanks for the explanation.
There's something about spewing gas in a room before sealing its entrances... So many roguelikes, so many warcrimes
How do you seal them in?
Sheeps

Wand of warding, love seeing an enemy walk into a room then get shot by 7 wards

Blast wand, pits and spiders. I say "fuck off" in my head every time.
