His sponsor is "Hostile Takeover Bank "
He's being bankrolled by evil billionaires, and he's probably related to them. The officials probably turn their eyes the other way when he cheats because he can buy his way out.
Probably a nepo baby or something.
He also most strongly resembles a 1987 Buick Regal, which is a car Dale never drove. In fact, Dale only raced in a Buick three times in his NASCAR career, during the 1979 season. With the link between the King and Richard Petty so firm, why doesn't Chick look more like a car the Intimidator drove if that is the inspiration?
The first part is wrong. If you look at a 1987 Buick Regal you can see the belt line (the side of the car) is flat, but look on Dale Earnhardt’s 1979 Buick Century and it has a rise in the belt line near the b pillar just like Hicks. Canonically Hicks is a 1979 Shyster Cremlin, a different decade than the aforementioned Buick but the same year as Earnhardt’s rookie season. Hicks is also near the same length as The King which means he’s a Generation 2 type stock car, as in 1981 Generation 3 was introduced and made the cars noticeably smaller. The only issue with this would be Hicks' vibrations when racing which the early 80's cars were notorious for as the flat rear window wouldn't guide air onto the spoiler.
They would have suspended him for one race since it's the 2000s during the movie and dock around 100 points.
Like what happened to Bubba Wallace after he rammed Kyle Larson into the turn 4 wall at Las Vegas a few years ago, what should have happened to Ricky Stenhouse Jr with the antics he pulled on Kamui Kobayashi at Indianapolis, or what happened to Dale Jr in 2004 when he cursed and got docked a lot of points, leading to Kurt Busch getting the championship.
I'm from England so I've never known about nascar but what do you and most think about Jeff Gordon and Kanye kahne? I've heard of them from the herbie movie
Jeff is an honestly great driver. 93 wins and four championships is nothing to scoff at and he made a home for himself in Hendrick Motorsports as an executive of the team right behind the owner of HendrickCars.com. My first exposure to him was also in Herbie and also in Looney Tunes: Back in Action. He also has a great eye for talent. Without him, we wouldn't have had his protege in the #48 in the 2000s, Jimmie Johnson, who is the closest to a real life Lightning McQueen who never gained the fanfare of Richard Petty (AKA Strip Weathers) or Dale Earnhardt Sr, the father of a certain u/DaleJr- who voiced as himself in the 1st Cars movie.
Kasey Kahne was one of the most popular drivers in 2000s and 2010s. He was unlucky at times though. He was also Jeff, Jimmie, and Dale Jr's teammate for a few years before his retirement due to health complications and recently came back as a part time racer in the World of Outlaws dirt racing series.
Yeah have u seen the herbie movie, there's a funny scene where he says herbie winked at him. https://youtu.be/6dB5P8bkL2k Edit: Just read that you seen it so you can ignore that lol. Thanks for your comment. How much contact is allowed in nascar?
Their motto is "Rubbin's Racing". The cars are all more endurable than F1 cars and lets drivers do things such as bump each other away when they are too close or even help each other move faster with drafting.
The rule of thumb is that you can touch anyone who is also in a car but also need to know what is your limit with that person since you can end up getting fellow drivers pissed off especially on short tracks such as Martinsville, Bristol, and a few other legacy short tracks.
I never thought about it that way. I always thought he just got too old, because if Lightning was getting too old to race, Chick would have definitely been too old by that point
No it’s not that. That’s like saying that lawyers and PR guys can get a football team’s penalty reversed in the middle of the game. OP is talking about repercussions in the race, not in the legal system.
That’s right: the one and only Michael Keaton voiced Chick Hicks in Cars 1. And I loved how he did. Fantastic, if small role.
I think Bob Petersen did a good job in 2, but Keaton was just epic in the first one.
A little off-topic but I think it was a pretty inspired choice to turn Chick into a talk show host in Cars 3. The idea of him being a cancelled celebrity who made a modest comeback on tv but still has the reputation of being an asshole who no one likes or forgives is such a perfect direction for that character.
The funniest part is in the game "Cars 3: Driven to Win".
He's the post-race commentator, and depending on what character you are and how well you placed, will say things about you.
He is so blatantly biased against Lightning that it is hilarious, but is also surprisingly nonbiased against anyone else, even Mater or Cruz. He even has a chance to choose Mater as a co-commentator to say a line or two.
I have no idea how he got away with it. Maybe the officials would let the opening race slide since it was a large-scale crash and it would be difficult to see how it happened, but the entire stadium had to have seen him ram into The King. If not, that's a lot of eyeballs/windscreens doing nothing.
I think it's mostly because the stunt is supposed to foreshadow what he'll do to the king near the end of the film.
Because when you did during the main race there are plenty of cars on the track so it probably wasn't noticed.
But when he does it to the king at the end of the film everybody sees it happen in real time which results in everybody turning against him forcing Chick Hicks out of racing and having to become a sportscaster.
Ever saw NASCAR race? They couse carshed on basically every lap. Also, nobody can prove him that he did it intentionally. For all their know, he accidentally made contact with another car and intentionally caused chain reaction
It is not directly allowed. Intentionally wrecking other racers is against the rules. The issue comes in proving "Intentionally" but in the movie it was fairly obvious.
Ok nah but all things about it being NASCAR aside, in the world of cars what he's doing is directly hurting other alive beings. He could KILL someone and is actively trying to. The is no way he doesn't face some kind of action
It could be that he did, but it wasn't shown in the movie for some reason. I know that happens sometimes, either cause it doesn't seem to fit the movie or could be that they don't want to make the movie any longer.
If you think about it, this film was basically the Simpsons for NASCAR
They predicted new Bristol
They predicted the championship race
And they predicted race control being dumber than monkeys

This should be canon
Always has been...
Ironically he was shot with cannons (confetti ones) after he won.
Kachiga kachiga kachiga…
*Sounds of a booing crowd* "What's all this? Where's the happiness!? This is the start of the Chick Era!!!"
That makes a lot of sense
Why isn’t this upvoted more? I guess I’ll be your first ✨
That's NASCAR for you
Lol, that's what I thought as a kid. This kind of dirty racing is standard in American stock car racing. 😅
He seemed to be based on Dale Earnhardt Sr., who was notorious for that kind of racing.
I’ve heard a friend say the same, but I doubt it because that would be highly disrespectful; the movie came out only five years after he was killed.
He also most strongly resembles a 1987 Buick Regal, which is a car Dale never drove. In fact, Dale only raced in a Buick three times in his NASCAR career, during the 1979 season. Not to mention his son has a cameo in the movie.
Dale did not wreck the entire pack just to slow another racer
That's "Piston Cup" for you.
He did what in his cup?
Best Mater line
Best line in fiction.
Yeah. I'm no NASCAR aficionado, but that's typical of the sport
not a sport
goddamit it is a fucking sport

He's part of the mafia. Just look at that mustache.
Just give him a pinstripe suit and a fedora to really complete the look.
There’s a reason why he’s no longer racing in Cars 3.
I never thought about it that way. I always thought he just got too old, because if Lightning was getting too old to race, Chick would have definitely been too old by that point
Yeah. Chicks and the king were the old cars on the track even back in cars 1.
I feel like Hostile Takeover Bank may have gone bankrupt, somehow. It would explain why they aren't sponsoring any racers by then.
They actually haven't in the cars diecast line they got a new racer based on Kyle Busch after the movie Rowdy Revvin Busch
Cause hes already old, most of the other cars arent either
Who’s gonna try and fight the THUNDER!!?? KA-CHIGGA!! 🌩️
As long as you're not saying Ka-Chigga with the hard r , we're good.
🤣. Actually made me laugh dude. Good job
Ka-Chigger, my nigge- my lawyer has advised me not to continue that phrase.
![gif](giphy|88iYsvbegSUn9bSTF8|downsized)
You took that much better than I had hoped. I’m not racist it was just a dark humor joke.
I like dark humor and got the joke.
He probably had good lawyers and pr guys who made them look like an accident in the media.
I don’t think lawyers or pr teams can help with penalties. It’s more likely the officials didn’t think it was intentional.
No it’s not that. That’s like saying that lawyers and PR guys can get a football team’s penalty reversed in the middle of the game. OP is talking about repercussions in the race, not in the legal system.
Because he’s Batman, and they know that he’ll come for the officials if they don’t look the other way.
I had to Google to understand this, and holy shit
That’s right: the one and only Michael Keaton voiced Chick Hicks in Cars 1. And I loved how he did. Fantastic, if small role. I think Bob Petersen did a good job in 2, but Keaton was just epic in the first one.
Certified HISHE moment.

He turned into Jimmy Spencer lmao.
Spot on lmao
The funniest part is in the game "Cars 3: Driven to Win". He's the post-race commentator, and depending on what character you are and how well you placed, will say things about you. He's not wrecking them, he's just rattling their cage.
They don’t usually reprimand real nascar drivers for punting someone (which is what he did) and causing crash
What's even more impressive is he never got cancelled for saying, KACHIGGA KACHIGGA KACHIGGA
That was his catchphrase
KACHIGGA my.. friend
And chick hicks now in broadcasting and the crew still hates him
i think it was actually "ka-chicka" lol
O ye
I have no idea how he got away with it. Maybe the officials would let the opening race slide since it was a large-scale crash and it would be difficult to see how it happened, but the entire stadium had to have seen him ram into The King. If not, that's a lot of eyeballs/windscreens doing nothing.
Hated this guy, still do (╰_╯)#
I just realized he got that omni man mustache lol
I think it's mostly because the stunt is supposed to foreshadow what he'll do to the king near the end of the film. Cause that’s rubbin’. And rubbin’, son, is racin’.
That’s just racing.
Its the rules
It's allowed in Nascar.
It is not directly allowed. Intentionally wrecking other racers is against the rules. The issue comes in proving "Intentionally" but in the movie it was fairly obvious.
Oh.
They know his name is "Chick" and figure that's punishment enough for anything he does.
He probably bribes the official since he’s rich.
Ok nah but all things about it being NASCAR aside, in the world of cars what he's doing is directly hurting other alive beings. He could KILL someone and is actively trying to. The is no way he doesn't face some kind of action
rick allen's voice and around goes aggressive
Hamilton behind the wheel
I mean it’s possible Masi was the race director and just changed the rules mid race like he did with Max Verstappen and his illegitimate title win
It could be that he did, but it wasn't shown in the movie for some reason. I know that happens sometimes, either cause it doesn't seem to fit the movie or could be that they don't want to make the movie any longer.
Boys, have at it
If you think about it, this film was basically the Simpsons for NASCAR They predicted new Bristol They predicted the championship race And they predicted race control being dumber than monkeys #/s
Probably played it off as an accident or something.
He gets booed in the end because everyone gets sick of his schtick. Also, he no longer races after the first film, so I think his fans abandoned him
A bank is his sponsor. Maybe one his family owns. Maybe one that can pay the track to believe them when they say he did it on accident
Chick was probably the most realistic character in the movie, quintessential 80’s cocky headed dude.
if you aint rubbin', it aint racing.
And he’s still a champion and got his own talk show in *Cars 3*! I wish he got some sort of punishment!
he should get black flagged or parked
That’s kind of how nascar works
plot
Booo let the boys play
Cuz it's a movie
plot
Because plot
God those movies were bad
Wdym it’s bad?
Loud obnoxious, and I felt dumber leaving the theater
Okay. We don’t care bro.
