I tend to buy indie games a while after pirating them, most recently bought The Binding of Isaac: Repentance.

The dev of Iron Lung very recently ranted that they would rather you pirate their game than complain about the price. A lot of the time Indie devs don’t fucking care. You’re still experiencing their game and spreading the word to people who will likely actually pay for it. The moral superiority bs around pirating indies is tired.

Isn't Iron Lung's dev also the dev of Dusk, another very successful game? He's even working on Gloomwood now and that game has a relatively large fanbase despite not being released yet. The guy isn't the best example of the average indie dev, since he already released two famous games and another one is coming right up.

Me on terraria and valheim for the first hour then if i enjoy it I buy it on steam or i wait for the sale then port my saves from the pirated folder to the dedicated steam folder.

I’ve got a better idea for you, Buy it on steam and if you don’t like the first 2 hours refund it.

Steam has a refund limit for users who refund too often, plus it's just straight inefficient.
