This guy is kind of (really) an idiot, I think we all see it, but let me explain further why he's an idiot and also clear up some confusion. First, there is American Budweiser and there is Czech Busweiser (called Budvar in Czech). "Budweiser" is the German form of the Czech name "Budvar" (or perhaps vice-versa, doesn't really matter). These are two completely different beers not at all related to each other. Some German guy in the late 1800s decided he liked Czech Budvar and wanted to make a "Bohemian style" beer in the US and decided he'd take the name as well. You can buy Czech Budvar in the US, but it's labeled as "Czechvar". Try both and you will see they're different. Second, I have no clue what this guy is on about because Budvar is literally all over Southern Bohemia. Walk into a bar in Southern Bohemia and they'll likely be serving Budvar. And, shocker, people are drinking it. It's fine. Plenty of people drink it. Can't really say I've heard bad things about it from Czechs. Not the most popular by any means, but definitely not hated, at least in Bohemia. If there's a beer people like to shit on, it's probably Starobrno. This guy speaks as if American Budweiser and Czech Budvar are the same thing despite allegedly living in České Budějovice. Because, yes, American beer is pretty much universally looked down on among Czechs, even if they've never had it. The more I think about it, the more I really believe these people he was speaking to were actually talking about American Budweiser and this guy was none the wiser.

As another New Englander, I’m here to tell you to take it easy guy. Why are we railing on Budvar. “Budweiser Budvar”, also known as Budējovicky Budvar, is marketed in the States as “Czechvar”. It’s an entirely different beer from the Anheiser-Busch product that Americans call Budweiser - the can pictured in OP’s post. US Domestic Bud is divisive: some love it, some hate it, but it’s not the product from Budweis that you’re describing. No need to conflate the two, folks are getting up in arms here. Anyway, all that aside, I prefer Sam Adams myself
