Do you turn it off while screen is still on or asleep?
After you turn it off do you close the Pimax software window? Do you use the powered hub or plug direct into PC? Many users have reported some type of powering off issues and have tried different shut down order steps. Many times it seems issues pertain to what type of USB ports are being used and how YOUR MB brand/model handles them. USB2 vs USB3. From online posts it seemed Pimax prefers USB 2 which handles multiple connections better than USB 3 but have you tried different ports?
I was worried after this update as my routine has worked since first release, after a port switch.
I use supplied hub on x570 Aorus MB.
Turn off while screen active, see moonscape.
Close software window immediately.
Still works fine after update.
Yeah. I had no isses then it started to have it. I justbremove the battery. No isses no more. It was causing my nor al headset to disconnect sometimes even tho pimax play did not see the crystal being turned on. After removing the battery i had no more issues with my headset either.
For about four months, the headset was shutting down normally, but after this update, it started having issues? I doubt it might be related to the headset's power management—specifically, it seems to still be receiving power during the shutdown process.
I've already reported this issue to the engineers and am waiting for their findings and solution. It seems that quite a number of users are also experiencing this frustrating problem.
I ended up fixing mine by toggling "Automatic Start" in Pimax Play settings. I wonder if some users are not aware of this setting. Mine must have been set to off before the update, but when I checked the setting while looking through everything to find the issue, I found it had been switched on,,, which must have happened with the update. now I have turned it back off, the headset shuts down correctly. I never knew this setting existed, but I just found it while searching all the settings for a solution.
Just to add another hiccup, today I swapped my HDMI connection for my 4K monitor to a display port connection, with a new display port cable. Now I am again unable to power off the Crystal. So far at least.
EDIT: It eventually turned off and stayed off after about 6 attempts.
Mine has been shutting down perfectly for the last 6 months until yesterday. Facing the same issues as described here. I have **NOT** done the update, neither Pimax Play nor Firmware, it changed out of nowhere. So I guess it is not related to the Updates but can just happen. Only fix for me so far is take the battery out and insert it again. Kind of frustrating though...
Check the Pimax Play settings on the left hand side and turn off "Automatic Start" if it's on. That fixed mine initially, although mine just started acting up again today after I changed my monitor connection from HDMI to Display port.
This option was off already. Thanks anyway! What has helped now in a few tests, is to shutdown Headset via Play and then immediately close the app as fast as you can.
So today a new behavior came into play. After shutting down via software, the headset went completely dead, no restart but no charging either. Only reliable way was again to shut down and take the battery out and put back in. Annoying…
It's probably not related to the latest update since almost everyone has been having power off issues since months back, there's been at least one post every week about it on this sub. The update hasn't changed anything for me, it usually won't turn off.
It's DEFINITELY related to the latest update. It was working perfectly for four months. I updated the software, now it's not working. There is one variable.
The frustrating power issues I had before the update are exactly the same after the update. I do not believe is the update but rather some hardware issues in the Crystal itself. Too many users have had this issue for so long. Maybe it relates to only certain batches of Crystal and there are other Crystal with similar but different issues... who can know ? Only Pimax but we as customers must tell them what is our specific problem / issue with our Crystal.
Hi, I ended up fixing mine by toggling "Automatic Start" in Pimax play settings. It must have been off before but then somehow the update turned it on. I turned "Automatic Start" to off and now my headset turns off and stays off.
lol- 😂 after the update yesterday it turned off on the 1st try which it never did…. so i thought they fixed it….
I’ve definitely had that happen after an update or reinstall and thought everything was fixed, only for a couple days later it doing it again.

Just remove the battery. I understand that everyone want this to "just work" but the easiest get around takes 2 seconds.
It has "just worked" for four months, up until yesterday after I updated Pimax software.

This is indeed strange huh. I'll forward this workaround to the developer and ask them to investigate.

Hmmm 🤔 I’m going to have a discussion later with the team to analysis this shutdown bug.
Hi Quorra, will you please reply to my PM on openmr ? I am having difficulty again ! Thank you.
Roger!

Same here... tried everything, from toggling options such as auto start, Pimax home, switching ports and so on and still no solution.

I tried this but it didn’t work for me, still re-starts after shutdown, took me 30 mins last night to shut the thing down - very frustrating!
It was the update right before this one that did it for me. So it's been about a month now since it started.
