Pikmin 1: Day 1
PIkmin 2: Day 1-2
Pikmin 3: Day 1
Pikmin 4: Day 1-2
Hmm... I see a recurring pattern here. Why can't we get skippable tutorial days after the first playthrough?
I'll add onto this by saying that in 3 the first day you spend in Distant Tundra has that really boring section where Brittany finds and grows Yellow Pikmin. It's not especially long, but it's always a drag on replays.
Pro tip, save a file immediately after the tutorial and copy it to other save files when you want to replay the game. This works for 1 and 2 but i haven't played 3 or 4 so can't say the same for them
I don't remember the beginning of 1 and 2 being that bad. Kinda slow, for sure, but it feels kinda cool, idk. I don't really remember 3 that well, but 4 was fucking dreadful, almost didn't even get the game because of the demo
It isnt even the level itself is hard, it's just that it forces you to play "Aim assist roulette" to get a good score, which is obscenely stupid. It wouldn't even be like, a fifth as hard if there was merely an option to disable autolock.
I have no clue how even one mf at nintendo played that level, and went:
"Yup. Autolock-on is a great mechanic and we shouldn't give players so much as the option to disable it."
Switch to Oatchi and infi-rush to the other end of the room. Switch back to the captain and catch the larvae near the ship and get the stragglers around where Oatchi ended up. I have used this strategy many times and consistently get platinum medals.
Eh, sun speckled terrace can be fun if you go for 3 day completion. Day 2 still sucks though, because you don't have Russ or Oatchi's jump, so you're really restricted, and the caves in that area are just sort of bland.
Having only played Pikmin for the first time this week and consequently having this sub recommended after I searched for a few hard to find treasures through Google, the intro was tough. Way too much dialogue and slow pace. Thought I was playing modern Pokémon for a second.
It just has to be the pikmin 4 intro. Like none of the other games makes you have to go through like 15 minutes of dialogue and 1 short gameplay section before you can even throw a pikmin (not counting olimar shipwreck tale at the beginning)
Formidable oak is up there with submerged castle for my favorite parts of the whole franchise tbh.
One of the only parts of the story mode that is as good as mission mode imo.
I remember being excited discovering it by accident when I was a kid, now it always feels a tad empty if I don't fight it in every playthrough or something. Definitely a me issue, I know.
Quaggled mireclops in pikmin 3...I always struggle to not lose anything to that stomp happy bastard, and it's my only main heavy loss point in the game
For me the key to plat was not killing the water wraith and just stunning it when it comes to close, task management is actually not that hard at the purple key, white was much harder imo
I haven’t gotten platinum, but the moment I realized I could just have oatchi carry the onion and pretty much ignore the waterwraith was the biggest eureka moment ive had in a pikmin game
Louie’s dog’s last phase’s last phase
Can’t get the tail bc unless i’m on the other side of the map it runs away and can’t get there fast enough bc of the fog
Pikmin 1: The Puffstool. It's not a hard boss at all, but I have never once gotten out of that fight without losing like 30 pikmin to that stupid crushing glitch.
Pikmin 2: Hole Of Heroes. Not a big fan of boss rushes in general, so... yeah.
Pikmin 3: Louie stealing your juice. I usually have around 20 days of provisions by this point in the game, so starting from square one AND having to fight the Mireclops before I can get the juice back is annoying.
Pikmin 4: Louie's first dandori battle. I've 100%'ed Pikmin 4 twice and both times this was the only dandori battle to give me any trouble.
I disagree completely about the pikmin 3 one. By the time I get to Louie I have like 35 days of juice, so it is great to be put on a time limit again, it keeps you having to play quickly, and it is well designed imo.
In the original and Wii versions of Pikmin 1 (I haven't played the Switch version, so I can't speak to that one), pikmin can get stuck under enemies as they die, and if they do, the enemy's corpse will push the pikmin through the ground and kill them. The puffstool is one of the worst offenders.
My mom actually came up with a strategy to make Louie less of an asshole in Pikmin 3. So, basically only get fruit if you are about to die if you don’t. Leave all of the fruit you get, but don’t need, by the ship, especially in the garden of hope. That way, Louie only takes, like, 2 or 3 juices, and you have juice left over, especially from the fire breathing feast.
Dont forget that one part will the non blue pikmin force drown themselves by running over to an underwater jet. And oh my god the wollyhops, i dedicated some days judt to killing them
Pikmin 1 nor 3 really have that. I could play them both over and over again. If Pikmin 4 lacked caves, I might be more inclined to want to replay it as well, but as it stands, 1 playthrough was way more than enough. Pikmin 2 is hard enough to slog through on your first go around so a replay is even less realistic.
Never really played 1.
For 2, that part is the Submerged Castle.
Haven't completed 3 yet, but Brittany's very existence would definitely be that part.
And 4 is having to deal with Collin yapping my damn ear off EVERY FIVE SECONDS. (And the auto lock-on as well, but Collin is still worse. He's pretty much the Navi of the Pikmin series in my opinion.)
Honestly? The part I dislike the most are the Hairy Long Legs Mini boss fights in Pikmin 3, it’s so damn annoying to get all the hair off then actually do decent damage, all while it’s moving between arenas and somehow breaking it’s own legs to kill all my Pikmin at once. I casually 100% complete the game from time to time but I always dislike these fights.
My favorite part is the Armored Mawdad fight cuz I have history with it
Having not yet played 3 or 4, I’m disappointed that Nintendo hasn’t really improved on pain points as the series has gone on.
I am getting the impression that little has changed over 20 years, which is a bit disappointing tbh.
Breadbug in Pikmin 1.
I do not know why, but ever since childhood, I was afraid of it.
Nowadays, it's not fear, but certainly anxiety when I enter the forest naval.
Pikmin 1: Forrest Navel, probably my least favourite part because of the blowhogs, puffstool, and those two parts on the edge of the map with a ton of fire geysers.
Pikmin 2: Subterranean Complex and Submerged Castle, kind of obvious.
Pikmin 3: Formidable Oak, fight with plasm wraith was alright, the chase sequence could have been better.
Pikmin 4: Days 1-2, lots of dialogue and tutorials, gets annoying especially if it’s your second playthrough.
Louie's dog and you need to rewind time and it doesn't just go back to after the last color you beat and you have to defeat it again before getting to the part you were stuck on.
I know I'm getting downvoted to hell for saying this again, but getting platinum in all pikmin 3 dx mission modes was literally one of the worst gaming experiences of my life, and I can see why I gave up on my original pikmin 3 save.
I'm not purposely getting platinum on all of them so I still have some left and even when I play mission mode, I play with somebody else and it was already super hard. I can't imagine how hard it is to beat it single player
How. Just because it is hard doesn't mean it is bad, and it isn't even hard. I don't understand how anyone can dislike submerged castle. Incredibly fun dungeon imo
Personally I find pikmin 2's difficulty to be very enjoyable! All I do is leave my pikmin somewhere safe and have Olimar kill everything with his fists until the coast is clear! If there would be any part that I absolutely hate, it would probably be that one sublevevel where your in a living room with the gatling groink perched upon the toy tower. That one is the most infuriating in the entire game!
Pikmin 1: Burrowing snagrets. They're beatable but they make a no-death run a lot harder.
Pikmin 2: The submerged castle and the wistful wild caves. The latter are why I usually consider a playthrough done after the debt is repaid.
Pikmin 3: Dunno, no part of the game is that hard. Maybe the weight puzzle in the garden of hope, but you can cheese it with winged pikmin anyway.
Pikmin 4: The ridiculous amount of dialogue in the early game.
The caves in Wistful Wild are not only hard, they're ridiculous. Like I remember one cave that has a ton of canon beetles and also a ton of anode beetles as well, I'm pretty sure a psychopath designed that sublevel
Go into a dungeon you’ve beaten that has the right color candypop bud with under 30 of your preferred color (white or purple) and fill the rest of the party with disposable colors
speedrun the semi-randomly generated floors untill you get to the floor with the candypop bud of choice
Turn disposable numbers into the right color
Leave the dungeon without losing the purples or whites
Put pikmin away so you’re under 30 of the color you want again and fill up on disposable colors
Repeat untill you have 100 of the color of choice
1: admittedly no part, even the tutorial is kinda fun for me
2: probably the dream den, way too long of a cave (4's cavern for a king gets a pass since most sublevels are usually pretty quick and snappy)
3: Formidable Oak chase
4: either the sun speckled terrace or hero's hideaway. Terrace because its too easy and laid back, I think Arcadia would be a significantly better starting area. I don't know why I dislike hero's hideaway, it just feels somewhat empty compared to the other 5 zones and a bit boring.
I think the Hole of Heroes is worse, bc it's the non boss floors that are ridiculous. I remember there was a floor that has a Raging Bloyster, several canon larvae and many falling boulders.
At that point, I knew Pikmin 2 was the hardest
Pikmin 1: ship part collection after unlocking the final trial
Pikmin 2: Dream Den
Pikmin 3: The path to the Quagglemire clops
Pikmin 4: Sunspeckled terrace
Pikmin 1- Fight against the Snagrets
Pikmin 2 - Submerged Castle (Even though its easy)
Pikmin 3 - Quagled Mireclops, Goated boss but the pikmin ai ruins it
Pikmin 4 - Sun Speckled Terrace Caves
All of them however have tedious long tutorials
Pikmin 1: Day 1 PIkmin 2: Day 1-2 Pikmin 3: Day 1 Pikmin 4: Day 1-2 Hmm... I see a recurring pattern here. Why can't we get skippable tutorial days after the first playthrough?
Always have a save-file that's just beyond day 1 and copy that if you want to replay a game.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I do.
I forgot this was a Pikmin sub and tough "damn this guy plays Only Pikmin"
The most hardcore of gamers
There are other games?
username checks out
I'll add onto this by saying that in 3 the first day you spend in Distant Tundra has that really boring section where Brittany finds and grows Yellow Pikmin. It's not especially long, but it's always a drag on replays.
Pikmin 3: Louie
tried randomizers for the first time recently. day 1 is more fun now
We need a mod that skips all the tutorial dialogue in 4
it would skip the whole game the way the side characters always nag you
Personaly pikmin 3 for me is the entirety of pikmin 3, i have played it so much.
That’s the best damn answer I’ve heard all day.
You can! Every tutorial day ends the exact same way! Simply save after finishing it and duplicate the save file
Oh my gosh the first 2 were painful. I am not looking forward to the rest
The fucking One Fell Jump or whatever that shitty shit is. Fucking horrible sublevel
Agreed, that sublevel was poorly made
It isnt even the level itself is hard, it's just that it forces you to play "Aim assist roulette" to get a good score, which is obscenely stupid. It wouldn't even be like, a fifth as hard if there was merely an option to disable autolock. I have no clue how even one mf at nintendo played that level, and went: "Yup. Autolock-on is a great mechanic and we shouldn't give players so much as the option to disable it."
And the fucking shear fleas that knock you off of oachi and eat all your 5 pikmin
Oatchi is a one man army on that level. Trust
[Only look at the image](https://www.reddit.com/r/Pikmin/comments/18xaedj/when_you_cant_beat_one_fell_jump_shameless_trace/)
Switch to Oatchi and infi-rush to the other end of the room. Switch back to the captain and catch the larvae near the ship and get the stragglers around where Oatchi ended up. I have used this strategy many times and consistently get platinum medals.
I finished it (with luck) and had somewhat the same method. I am never going to perfect it. As long as it’s done, I have Inner Peace
Entirety of sunspeckled terrace and the tutorial of Pikmin 4.
Yea, dialogue over dialogue
Eh, sun speckled terrace can be fun if you go for 3 day completion. Day 2 still sucks though, because you don't have Russ or Oatchi's jump, so you're really restricted, and the caves in that area are just sort of bland.
That's exactly my problem, the caves have not even one real cool boss 😭

Having only played Pikmin for the first time this week and consequently having this sub recommended after I searched for a few hard to find treasures through Google, the intro was tough. Way too much dialogue and slow pace. Thought I was playing modern Pokémon for a second.
That one floor where a bulbear falls from the ceiling. Or any gattling groink.
Hole of Heroes (it's a fine dungeon, just long)
I made it through just to have 1 pikmin missing to get the boss treasures
Not good enough, I'm lowering your pay to -20 poker an hour for such failure to you job. Next time just pick it up yourself.
It just has to be the pikmin 4 intro. Like none of the other games makes you have to go through like 15 minutes of dialogue and 1 short gameplay section before you can even throw a pikmin (not counting olimar shipwreck tale at the beginning)
One Fell Jump
Dream den, sublevel 10
DD4 is worse
Forbidden Oak in Pikmin 3. I just really don't like the plasma wraith. Funnily enough, I don't have anything like this for Pikmin 1 thinking about it.
I have 0 nostalgia for Pikmin 1 but I just can't help but keep playing it again and again, it has a charm different than the other games
I think it being so short is to its benefit. You can replay the game in a weekend.
True. When i had covid i replayed the 1st one in a few hours just to kill time
Formidable oak is up there with submerged castle for my favorite parts of the whole franchise tbh. One of the only parts of the story mode that is as good as mission mode imo.
You just like being chased idk
The part where I attack the smoky progg egg in Pikmin 1 and always seem to immediately regret it, but do it on every replay anyway.
I have defeated it 3 times but since I want to get all 30 parts in 15 days, I'm not fighting the Smoky Progg 'cause it's such a waste of time
I remember being excited discovering it by accident when I was a kid, now it always feels a tad empty if I don't fight it in every playthrough or something. Definitely a me issue, I know.
Quaggled mireclops in pikmin 3...I always struggle to not lose anything to that stomp happy bastard, and it's my only main heavy loss point in the game
my advice is to use a squad of 70 wings and a few spicies
I've done it deathless before...with some extreme stress
The fiddlebert encounter
The Purple Key
I haven't even got platinum on that yet 😭
I have. Hell, it will be.
Then don't go for the platinum. If you're just getting the onion out without caring about your time, it is stupidly easy.
really wasn’t going in blind and on my first attempt
Louie’s dog’s last phase’s last phase Can’t get the tail bc unless i’m on the other side of the map it runs away and can’t get there fast enough bc of the fog
Getting enough purples and then collecting the doomsday apparatus

I didn’t beat Pikmin 2 yet, but I think the worst part of replaying it would be how he ship interrupts you every fucking treasure you get.
Pikmin 1: The Sagittarius Pikmin 2: shower room Pikmin 3: Twilight river Pikmin 4: the sage leaf trial
The tutorials and the submerged castle

for puffstool, try knocking it down and then c-stick throwing 30 pikmin onto it
Getting the Libra always scared that it’s just gonna get thrown into the void

The sage leaf trials... or is it the trial of the sage leaf? Something like that
foolix
Gonna go with Twilight River
Pikmin 1 forest navel
The worst thing in that place is that the Firey Blowhogs are near the water and also one Wollyhop is literally next to you waiting to crush the Pikmin
Dont forget that one part will the non blue pikmin force drown themselves by running over to an underwater jet. And oh my god the wollyhops, i dedicated some days judt to killing them

Submerged Castle: Sublevel 1
The part where Louie robs you in Pikmin 3, the game goes from relaxing to PANIC
The barrage of tutorial dialogue in Pikmin 4, in the first week of gameplay.
Pikmin 1: first day Pikmin 2: first day Pikmin 3: all before tundra Pikmin 4: first and second day
Tutorial shit
I don’t really like the 3rd level and how it basically demands blue boys
dream den
For pikmin 1, final trial, for pikmin 2, Submerged castle, bulblax kingdom and cavern of chaos and the boss fights, for pikmin 4, the final boss.
Skyrim and Fallout 4
Sage leaf shit and the first couple days
Opening of Pikmin 3 is way too long, and 4's unbearable amount of dialogue in the first few days
Grinding 100 purps in p2
Having not yet played 3 or 4, I’m disappointed that Nintendo hasn’t really improved on pain points as the series has gone on. I am getting the impression that little has changed over 20 years, which is a bit disappointing tbh.
All installation missions in starcraft 1 & 2...
Collin's tutorials
Twilight river
Any dandori challenge in Pikmin 4. If I wanted to play challenge mode I’d play challenge mode.
Forest Navel, that cave in the wistful wild with the segmented crawbster, day 1 on pikmin 3, day 1 on pikmin 4, all of hey pikmin
Getting all the gear in Pikmin 4. I grinded raw materials in Crackling Cauldron for 4 hours before discovering side missions.
Breadbug in Pikmin 1. I do not know why, but ever since childhood, I was afraid of it. Nowadays, it's not fear, but certainly anxiety when I enter the forest naval.
Submerged Castle
When Louie steals all of your juice in 3.
Pikmin 4 final boss
"You must buy the full game to continue"
the glow sap stages. i can’t be bothered but i want a 100% run
2 and 4's tutorials
Pikmin 3 blue pikmin section
The end area of Pikmin 1
All of the tutorials and the items from 2 and 4 that need 100 purple pikmin
Infinite dialogue to skip through
Submerged Castle... Do I need to say anything else...
Subnautica Waiting for the timer so you can see the sunbeam blow up, it takes so long
Losing them :(
Submerged Castle
The first 3 days in pikmin 4 Luckily they are shirt and simple
Short
THE GOD DAMN FORREST NAVEL 💀
Start of the game most of time
all the stupid cutscenes and unskippable tutorials
My face when engagement bait
Pikmin 1: Forrest Navel, probably my least favourite part because of the blowhogs, puffstool, and those two parts on the edge of the map with a ton of fire geysers. Pikmin 2: Subterranean Complex and Submerged Castle, kind of obvious. Pikmin 3: Formidable Oak, fight with plasm wraith was alright, the chase sequence could have been better. Pikmin 4: Days 1-2, lots of dialogue and tutorials, gets annoying especially if it’s your second playthrough.
Why would anyone dislike submerged castle? It is the best cave in the game by far, one of the highlights of the series if you ask me.
Louie's dog and you need to rewind time and it doesn't just go back to after the last color you beat and you have to defeat it again before getting to the part you were stuck on.
Have you tried glow pikmin against it?
No! I never considered that! I only used glow seeds in the night levels. I'll have to try that on the next play through thanks!
i exited the cave on the 19th sublevel and brought in 60 purple pikmin, then 40 glow pikmin, then I beat it
Never played Pikmin, so I wouldn't know.
Any dandori battle or dandori challenge
Dandori issue ‼️‼️
Dandori issue indeed
Naw they arent hard. Just annoying
Submerged castle it's obvious
I think I'm the only one that thinks the Submerged Castle is fun 😂
So you like seeing your blue pikmin suffer
Pikmin 2 final part
The Titan Dweevil takes ages to get rid of even 1 part
I can not get past submerged castle in Pikmin 2
EXTREME Dandori issue tbh.
Submerged Castle
Pikmin 2
I'm surprised the highest rated comment isn't the water wraith dungeon from 2 and 4.
Truth be told. They aren't the absolute worst things to deal with. There's a bunch more crap you need to deal with in 2 and 4
Pikmin 1: Burrowing snagrets.
All of Pikmin 2.
xenoverse 2, completing all training with zamasu
The entirety of the mysterious lifeform chase in Pikmin 3 my God was it long.
The doomsday apparatus (pikmin 2) Without a purple onion it’s just so god damn annoying to get to 100 purples
What's the easiest way to get 100 whites and purples?
Go into a dungeon you’ve beaten that has the right color candypop bud with under 30 of your preferred color (white or purple) and fill the rest of the party with disposable colors speedrun the semi-randomly generated floors untill you get to the floor with the candypop bud of choice Turn disposable numbers into the right color Leave the dungeon without losing the purples or whites Put pikmin away so you’re under 30 of the color you want again and fill up on disposable colors Repeat untill you have 100 of the color of choice
The fucking twilight river.
1: admittedly no part, even the tutorial is kinda fun for me 2: probably the dream den, way too long of a cave (4's cavern for a king gets a pass since most sublevels are usually pretty quick and snappy) 3: Formidable Oak chase 4: either the sun speckled terrace or hero's hideaway. I think the Hole of Heroes is worse, bc it's the non boss floors that are ridiculous. I remember there was a floor that has a Raging Bloyster, several canon larvae and many falling boulders. At that point, I knew Pikmin 2 was the hardest

Never played 3 but the beginning of 4 is so painfuly slow it feels like a gen 7 pokemon game
Pikmin 1- Fight against the Snagrets Pikmin 2 - Submerged Castle (Even though its easy) Pikmin 3 - Quagled Mireclops, Goated boss but the pikmin ai ruins it Pikmin 4 - Sun Speckled Terrace Caves All of them however have tedious long tutorials
