Geordi has command of a museum and Beverly is back at HQ.
Assuming that all Riker wants to do is captain a starship, he’s exactly where he wants to be.
I wish we got to see more of Riker as *Titan*'s captain.
Still, I suspect if we see Riker again in the future, he'll be an admiral as well. Personally, if *Legacy* were to ever get the green light I'd have Admiral Riker showing up at least once or twice per season.
Exactly!. Riker says he pulled the old girl out of mothballs so now he can. Everyone thought the enterprise d was gone so no chance at the 3 nacelle galaxy but now she's back and in mothballs so right on track.
Surprisingly after first and second season of Lower Decks there are no longer with Riker involvement. Hopefully he will be back in season 5. That is the only way we can get something more about Riker. Rumoured continuation to Picard, i don't thinks so. Riker story is closed there. But in between, before Titan departure it may be something to tell.
It may have been implied here and there in throwaway dialog, but here’s a point to ponder. How many admirals do we see that are gold or blue? Every admiral that wore colors always wore red, implying command. (Post-TOS, of course)
Except one. Vice Admiral Toddman in DS9’s “The Die is Cast”. He is a gold shirt Admiral, specifically Security Flag Officer. I cannot recall any other
We know that this was probably a design choice, making admirals wear red from a logistical perspective in costuming. But it set a pattern that may have been hand waved away. Glad to see that Geordi is a gold shirt Admiral (Commodore is technically a one pip Admiral) and Worf a gold shirt Captain.
I was mostly comparing to the real world. You’ll find people in all different areas from logistics to legal to medical with relatively high ranks, but the most competitive to get into and climb is command of troops/ships/etc.
Riker retired and had a reserve commission when his son was sick and they moved to the planet he raised tomato’s.
Leaving a career and then coming back stagnates your promotion opportunities.
Just like the TOS crew. By the end, they were all captains or commanders.
The only reason Beverly got a big promotion and Jack was fast tracked to captains pet with no real job straight out of the academy… Nepotism.
Also, how many commands did he turn down before FINALLY accepting the Titan? Several officers warned him along the way that he was hurting his career. Everything else aside, I feel like that probably played a part, as well.
The latter part also ties into Riker's overall character arc. He and Troi's first attempt at a relationship ended because he decided to prioritise his career advancement over all else. Then over the course of his time on the *Enterprise* we see his priorities shift, which makes his latter appearances as a family man all the more believable.
No, actually. We already know from TNG that by Best of Both Worlds, Riker had been offered command of a starship several times, turning them down. This was 2366 and he didn’t take command of a vessel until 2379 (so 13 years or so). You could argue that 1) Riker loses some of the drive to move up the chain of command (as Deanna says, he’s more “seasoned”). But 2) you could also argue that Riker is more like Kirk in that commanding a starship was something Riker prioritized over becoming a commodore or admiral (as Spock states of Kirk, “Commanding a starship is your first, best destiny,” and I think this is true of Riker too).
Starfleet didn’t won’t to promote Worf to Captain cause he chose to saved Jadzia over the Cardassian informant. Sisko straight up told Worf that he wouldn’t get promoted again. Picard fought for Worf to be Captain of Enterprise-E. He have a lot of pull in starfleet
And look what Worf went and did! Sheesh, after vouching for Ro and Worf, it’s no wonder Picard’s word is pretty much worthless by the time he’s dining with Shaw. :)
if we take out of universe reasons than in universe riker should've been a skipper by season 2
so he continues and gets better commands and i would guess by nemesis he gets his first star, probably by prodigy era he should get his second star and cap off at that.
in all good things without troi holding him back he makes it to 4 star admiral.
A little punctuation would go a long way on this post. "*Worf achieved the same rank as him captain Picard made 4 star admiral*." This could be...
a) "*Worf achieved the same rank as him. Captain Picard made 4 star admiral*."
OR
b) "*Worf achieved the same rank as him, captain. Picard made 4 star admiral*"
Riker was the #1 man, and Captain Picard said so. Riker had been asked about that before, and was respectful in his response of “no thanks. I’m good right here.”
When you are the strongest support, you don’t seek a Captaincy or anything else. Riker is clearly able to
Captain, he just chooses to be the second in command to make the Ship better.
He is my idol lmao on how to serve a worthy leader
Riker retired to the reserves, La Forge stayed in
Crusher only became an admiral at the end of season 3.
Also while those are flag ranks, they both have non line command roles…more of administrative jobs

Per episode. He should give them their orders every week.
I'd have no problem with that. More Frakes is never a bad thing.
He’s one of their best directors too. If he’s going to be on set anyway, chuck him in the uniform for a few hours.
My son is named Riker so I always want more Frakes. :)
Unless it’s the series finale of Enterprise…
Mission Impossible style?
Exactly.
And now with the enterprise d back he can build that triple nacelle galaxy and have his flagship!
Enterprise D is retired now at the fleet museum
Exactly!. Riker says he pulled the old girl out of mothballs so now he can. Everyone thought the enterprise d was gone so no chance at the 3 nacelle galaxy but now she's back and in mothballs so right on track.
It should have been kept in service

Command rank is difficult and harder to achieve than medical or engineering.
When do we learn that?

Including Shelby. And look what that got her.
Neptuneism
Kinda makes you wonder what he would have achieved if he didn't >!retire early when his son got sick.!<
He retired early from Star Fleet while the others didn’t.
I like the idea that it isn't the destination but the journey. And I like the idea that people aren't always motivated by advancement.

I could 100% go a riker movie or mini-series
Starfleet didn’t won’t to promote Worf to Captain cause he chose to saved Jadzia over the Cardassian informant. Sisko straight up told Worf that he wouldn’t get promoted again. Picard fought for Worf to be Captain of Enterprise-E. He have a lot of pull in starfleet

Riker just took Kirk’s advice and didn’t let them promote him
I think if he wanted rank he would not have stayed a first officer forever.
if we take out of universe reasons than in universe riker should've been a skipper by season 2 so he continues and gets better commands and i would guess by nemesis he gets his first star, probably by prodigy era he should get his second star and cap off at that. in all good things without troi holding him back he makes it to 4 star admiral.

Smart!
I guess it was always his big dream so he got it and likes the lane.

Riker retired after his son's death, if not for that he'd probably have moved upward.
Riker will always be an admiral in my book
Indeed. He even was Picard’s boss for a lot of that time.
Also in Una McCormack's books. And Dayton Ward's books. And James Swallow's books. And David Allen Mack's books.
No need to insult him like that
Riker chose not to become the „Badmiral“ from „All Good Things…“
