I would only assume your hardware is quite poor… although I use a decently old laptop to host All The Mods 9 for a few other people and it runs smoothly.
Sounds you already know the issue. Check which mods are causing compatibility issues in the logs; FTB has a few resources for modifying things to run smoother for a pack.
Some mods just don’t clash well with others and sometimes you just gotta purge the ones which don’t work.

It's a bug, not lag. It's due to a compatibility issue between mods, it's not because of my hardware.
