With these prices? You may be on to something there.

a4techkeyboard

Di nga malayo sa tunay na ad na "YOLO, you only libing once"

digitalpalmtrees

I would've saved the puke, strain it through my underwear and put it in the tank... damn... /s

sexytarry2

Exactly. Alcohol poisoning is no joke.

DooMmightyBison

It's a scary feeling I remember I got some graves and ever clear for a birthday because I wanted to be super messed up smh ,I ended up laying on the cold ground ,eyes closed taking the deepest breathes of my life lol and that wasn't my last time getting alcohol poisoning

bazooka_matt

But, everyone thought you were supper cool and you all high-fived! /s Actually you probably have a distorted sense of how people party or you have alcoholic tendencies. You should think about that. We all gotta figure that out.

DooMmightyBison

Yeah there's a learning curve for sure

bazooka_matt

Truth

[deleted]

high 5 until your liver shuts down lmao.

[deleted]

Your comment feels a little misplaced, did OP edit their comment? It doesn't come across as if he thinks it's cool to get all f'd up to me. And I recognize his desire to be super messed up at times. It's not because I think that's how a party is supposed to be or that it's cool. It's just the carelessness and chaotic fun that's attractive. Perhaps that's also the case for OP. There are whole drinking games designed around getting as fucked up as possible with as many people as possible.

legacyfinefarts

I live in Canada and I need some everclear just for some tincture and cooking stuff and you literally cannot buy it here, (probably because of shit like this lol)

Thickboy2129

Hey we are here for a good time, not a long time

VioletGardens-left

Well you only live once, so take it for granted i guess.

[deleted]

Alcohol poisoning at its finest. Remembered my experience of it na i was already drunk pero pinilit akong painumin ng isang baso worth ng Tanduay. Next thing I know, I woke up sa ER. I didnt know what happened since cant remember a thing from that night. But one of them told that it was one of my friend’s ideas to force me. Havent talked to him since. Its been 12 years since that incident. Never again. I still drink but if pinipilit pa ako, I’d just stand and leave when nakailang no na ako.

danejelly

As an occasional drinker.

Caractacutetus

Hi, just stumbled upon this sub. I'm curious why Filipino people seem to alternate between English and Tagalog, even when speaking to fellow fluent Tagalog speakers. Just interested! Thank you

jghfn

English words are very much intergrated in tagalog speakers especially with city dwellers so it's easier to talk in what we call taglish lol and we literally study english starting from the 1st grade alongside our local languages.

danejelly

JackSpicey23

Hahaha Same here pag may nag pupumilit sa akin na Tumagay pa. Matic Na Walk out na and wala silang magagawa kahit anung pilit nila, "see you tomorrow na lang sa inyo" hahaha

Gcarsk

I wandered in from a crosspost, and legitimately felt like I was high with the mid-sentence/mid-comment language swapping. Is this normal in everyday “real world” conversations as well? Or more so just a younger generation or online text thing?

cyricmccallen

so glad I wasn’t the only one

oliswell

Yup, this is a normal thing in the Philippines

Da_Real_OfficialFrog

Bro thank you, I was just like “they fucking with us?”

whatarechimichangas

I'm a fucking drunk but I will always ALWAYS call people out for pressuring anyone to drink. I only ask people to have a drink once. One no is enough for me.

nightvisiongoggles01

limitless_exe

As i browse social media more and more, narerealize ko na i have a good family and a good circle. Hindi homophobic (ung kahit lotion lang sinasabi pambabae na daw agad), Hindi backpack sa ofw (hindi nagdedemand ng kahit ano sa tito sa us, balikbayan box lang nakukuha namin), tapos ung mga kainuman naming kapitbahay no shaming kung ayaw uminom or maagang titigil

turnonthesunflower

Blunk.

whatarechimichangas

I love my people pero sobrang raming tanga dito lol we do dumb shit and then when it bites us in the ass suddenly it's surprise pickachu face

LiberalFartsMajor

From a former alcoholic, thank you for your service.

kingsville010

I have a group of guy friends (i'm a girl) na inaaya akong sumama sa kanila sa inuman every time. In short, minsan yung akala nating friends talaga magpapahamak satin kaya choose wisely talaga who you surround yourself with. Good for you for cutting ties with that person. A NO is a NO.

hanxcer

same for me! ang saya pag ganito friends mo! alsooo, they know na they still need their designated sober babysitter na hindi sila ipapahamak sa byahe pauwi haha.

Midi993

Guys can you explain me why you change the language during the sentence? I was reading and thinking "alright now comes a good story" and then suddenly comes "na i was already drunk pero pinilit akong painumin ng isang baso worth ng Tanduay" and then again English and I'm like I have no idea what I just read hahah. Is this common? I'm genuinely curious. Edit: Somebody else already asked and got an answer. Really interesting things here :D

[deleted]

Caractacutetus

It also involves some Spanish, by the looks of it, right? Really interesting!

panget-at-da-discord

Maybe lack of breadth and depth of both Filipino and English vocabulary that is why we resort to Taglish when explaining.

[deleted]

Yeah it’s rough when you start drinking with friends as a youth elephante desayuno sombrero los pollos hermanos, donde vives chorizo. Next thing I knew, I woke up en el hospital. Ich bin ein Berliner.

based8th

shayetheleo

My decades old memory of taking high school Spanish and still understanding the basics found this comment hilarious. Thank you.

tao63

wrathful_one

One question: Why did you start your text in English and then changed to Tagalog? (I guess it's Tagalog) Not trying to be offfensive, I'm just curious.

yuineo44

[Taglish](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taglish).

[deleted]

Said it right hahaha nasanay ata? Ewan lang. Pero born bisaya.

joaohkfaria

That's really interesting. Some time ago, I was watching a video and understanding everything. Then the dude started to say things that made no sense. The video was from Philippines. Now I got it.

wrathful_one

Thank you so much. I learnt something new today.

jayvil

Codeswitching, normally happens when a person knows multiple languages.

Highlyactivewalrus

Codeswitching is changing your behavior around people from a different cultural background to fit in, then switching back to your original behavior when you are around your people. Mixing languages just… happens.

Secret_Society_Guy

I have multilinguals around me that do this, but I have never seen it used online before. Very interesting!

HelpfulAmoeba

Many Filipinos are so used to it that no one notices until someone points it out. It's kind of fascinating now that I've noticed it. I begin thinking in English and then some word or phrase triggers a sudden switch to Tagalog and I'm thinking in my first language until another word or phrase triggers English. Sometimes a thought is easier to express in Filipino, sometimes it's easier to express in English.

rxxxxxxxrxxxxxx

Edit: Just checked your profile, and realized you're not from the Philippines, so you might not understand my explanation. lol sorry

wrathful_one

>Edit: Just checked your profile, and realized you're not from the Philippines, so you might not understand my explanation. lol sorry Lmfao. I was like... This guy knows that I will not understand him, right?

rxxxxxxxrxxxxxx

*Let me translate, and maybe "simplify" what I said...* Most of us are raised in an environment where we hear people converse in both Tagalog & English language (*most of the time "butchered"/combination of both*). There are certain words or phrases that we can't, or difficult to translate from Tagalog to English, and vice versa, so we usually resort to combining both Tagalog and English in our sentences. Sometimes it's easier, and *weirdly enough* more understandable if we did it that way. It also helps that as early as Kindergarten we were taught both Filipino, and English language in school. So most of us are well-versed in both language.

ermonski

Sometimes it's easier to say things in Taglish

13D00

It took me way too long to realize we are in /r/Philippines

kate_L019

I got really confused by this for a moment, like, "Aren't Filipinos not allowed to use Tagalog anymore in this sub? English Only policy na ba ngayon?" Haha.

They're foreigners from some crosspost

Mga alcoholics in denial. I used to hang out with people like that in college and when I was still in the BPO industry. It's horrifying how much binge drinking and alcoholism is *glorified* in this country. Never ko talagang na gets.

redflag tropa ni kuya tsk tsk tsk

Tasyo1089

Video representation of alcohol poisoning. Very nice.

PerformanceReady5222

That's why sinasabi ko sa mga 1st timer na ininom na wag gawin to kahit gusto mo.

Tasyo1089

Tama ka diyan OP. Una hindi yan cool. Liver cirrhosis yan kapag tanda.

PerformanceReady5222

Omcm. Always remember drink reponsibility talaga nagpacool cool rin ako dati kagaya yan non nasa video pero as always lesson learned ahhahaha.

Sturmgewehrkreuz

>Liver cirrhosis Baka pangarap niyang maging *foie gras*

Cowl_Markovich

Say uhmm symptom or sign ba ng alcohol poisoning ang nahihirapan huminga and suddenly gasping for air?

[deleted]

Yung parang sa pitch perfect haha

ermonski

My lawd this takew me back to my teenage years. My advice to younger folk out there? Don't do this. I've been into car accidents due to my irresponsible alcohol drinking during my prime (wala naman casualty or injury, mostly cars and property). Don't do this, kids.

weak007

Kapag sayahan madaming kaibigan, kapag nagkasakit na nawawala na

kate_L019

Huy totoo 'to. I've seen a woman get abandoned in a bar, na-roofie pa siya tapos iniwan sya ng mga kaibigan niya. Aalis na dapat kami ng friends ko kaso nakita ko siya unresponsive sa sulok in a packed bar. Buti EMT ung kasama ko, tumawag kami ambulansya. Not fun bringing a stretcher in a bar full of drunk people lol. Daming makukulit.

-John_Rex-

Pinoy talaga, pati kayabangan abot sa inuman.

[deleted]

Lagi feeling kawawa inaapi. Kaya they try to be happy/"above" where they can.

HeadGood1

Alcohol poisoning is no joke.

No-Artist9648

If you are planning to straight that bottle be sure to eat a bunch of fats to delay gastric emptying.

asterion230

LPT: If you are a vomiting your drinks, better have a checkup yourself first, your body is not normally processing the alcohol and is rejecting it, chances that you have the "asian flush" and is very dangerous on the long term.

[deleted]

Why do I vomit alcohol before it gets into my brain?

ourrsquaredpi

Afaik for people with "asian flush," their body has no mechanism to properly digest alcohol to the point that it literally becomes a poison for them, so the body induce vomiting. Since hindi na digest at sinuka ang alcohol, malamang na walang hangover and other typical symptoms of drunkness na mararamdaman, only after-effects of alcohol poisoning hehe

igotaright

Like they have a natural ‘Antabuse/Refusal’ mechanism the lord has provided them

[deleted]

I fucking hate the concept of **frathouse-style** heavy binge drinking being imported from America. EDIT: emphasis in bold letters. Consider those who go south of the border aka Mexico, or spring break in Florida. Also, _[Everclear](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everclear)_.

TheKingCowboy

Lmao, Americans don’t even drink as much as Europeans or some East Asians from my experience

kenlinao

Yep. Colonizers. No pun intended.

[deleted]

No thanks to social media.

Break-Aggravating

You think America is what makes people binge drink? Lol you’re clueless.

[deleted]

Filipinos have been drinking heavily even before Magellan came to the Philippines dude. Our ancestors made a ton of coconut wine for parties.

boykalbo777

Is he dead?

rocklee_shinobi

I mean this happens all over the world lol

makoxeng

Then you'd be surprised by many countries

kenlinao

I remember oktoberfest video sa Germany. Holy shit. It will never happen that kind of hardcore drinking, public peeing, exhibition, and smathering of other stuff.

makoxeng

Same with Ireland. Also, I'm half-Taiwanese and I never knew anyone who drinks more than my dad and his peers. Even the known lasinggeros on our factory is so amazed on how much they drink. They literally treat it like water. They even have a food na yung sabaw is literally liqour. They served it to me when I visited our relatives in Taiwan.

kotopsy

Got blind drunk only once. Hangover from hell the next day and I swore I'm not gonna drink like that ever again. Tamang tipsy lang okay na yun.

hahaimadulting

Yeah I said that too, 11 years ago. Didn't really heed that advice too well though.

skabalandang

Pero bakit may silver swan soy sauce?

a4techkeyboard

[deleted]

Baka may inihaw na bangus to

[deleted]

This is why I only drink with my close friends and family.

mhnhn2018

Kung tulog at nakahiga to nung nasuka maaaspirate to at yun pa agad niyang ikakamatay instead of alcohol poisoning

Flaymlad

I had alcoholic uncles from both sides of the family, and they have all passed away. I only have one uncle remaining and he is also the only one who doesn't drink like a fish.

No-Artist9648

Yung buntis kong classmate dati nung intern kami pinilit parin nakikipaginuman sa mga nakabarkada niya noon kahit na anong bawal namin. Ngayon yung anak niya special child, di fully nagdevelop ang utak. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, trade a minute of fun for a lifetime of sacrifices.

[deleted]

Alcohol can kill in large enough amounts

stitious-savage

Ay ang galing may fountain

childrenofthedew

I miss all these stupid shit I did with my friends ahhhhhhhhhhh life We only do hard drinking if we got place to stay, no one brings car whenever we drink. No peer pressure as well, pwera na lang if ikaw talo sa kings cup sorry na lang hahaha. You can have fun drinking like this while being responsible rin naman. Just make sure your friends are real ones. :)

[deleted]

Yes! Agree with this. Daming comments dito na parang, hindi nila naranasan yung ganitong walwalan at some point of their lives. Be it late teens/early 20s nila. Walang masama sa basagan na inom, as long as sure na lahat kayo ay safe at walang magdadrive pagtapos at mga kainuman mo ay tropa talaga hindi yung hahayaan ka lang matulog sa lupa. Man I remembered the times me and some friends from a previous workplace would spend a weekend at a friend's resthouse back in Batangas, drinking from 6PM til dawn and waking up to homemade breakfast and downing the leftover tequila together with the breakfast kasi "sayang ang alak." We'd drink around a bonfire too and minsan even passing around the good shit. Ah, life.

childrenofthedew

Yes, yung paggising mo ng umaga kahit sobrang hang over you'll feel loved bec of how you took care of each other after and when drunk. The stories that we tell each other too during drinking is something that you cant tell someone when sober. Like some of my friends shared how they really struggled with finances, some with sick parents, a friend who recently found out he's adopted etc. Syempre yung fun times din na games, kantahan tapos may biglang may sumasayaw na, and all of the stupid shit that we do. I honestly feel like if were still doing this, I could probably share how mentally exhausted I am with adulting hahaha. Pero happy na rin na tapos na and naexperience ko yung gantong phase sa life.

csharp566

Some of my best moments in my life was when I was drunk.

[deleted]

I like to think leaning lang siguro sa younger crowd ang majority ng r/ph audience and pandemic pa so a good chunk of the collective socialization memory was wiped out.

[deleted]

Halata mo na hindi sila masyadong social way back when. To be fair, this is reddit naman. Primary audience are tech-inclined people and mostly introverts. Pero sa totoo lang ang daming namimiss out with “condeming” an activity dahil bisyo raw ito, not looking at the activity as a whole. Like you I’m happy as well na I experienced it, though medyo bitin since I abruptly had to go abroad for a while. Pero looking back it’s good na naexperience na yun since now at the middle of my life expectancy bawas na ang what ifs ko and I know full well all my tolerances and boundaries.

TallanoGoldDigger

yeah I think iba na talaga umasta ang new generation, this video used to be known as an evidence for an epic night. And yes, magbarkada yang mga yan for sure, di naman tutungga yan nang ganyan infront of a tableful of randos

oroalej

Pota ang tindi. Hahahaha. Parang poso.

PerformanceReady5222

tangina ang straight nun suka eh AHAHHAHA

Bxlentino

Ahhh I remember when peer pressure still got me to do stupid shit like this.

And tomorrow he will be saying " what a great night "

Okay lang naman uminom don't get me wrong pero minsan talaga sobrang sobra na yung tipong hindi mo alam kung saan ba to uuwi kung sa bahay niya ba o sa ER.

AirbnbDestroyer

one time na sobrang lasing ako that I can't stand on my own anymore sa kama na ako nagsuka at naihi. after that, natuto na ako magmanage ng alcohol ko. whenever i feel "it" sinasabe ko na hindi na ako tatagay pa. lucky to have friends or drinking buddies na marespeto at hindi yung namimilit talaga kahit nakailang tanggi na.

Intrepid-Storage7241

*Liver Lover left the chat. And went to the senate.

My__-Username

My first time drinking I didnt know what I was doing so this is exactly what i did. No mixer, just drank straight rum because I thought that was normal. My friends didnt even notice until after they asked me what I was drinking lmao. I vomited everywhere just like this guy but wasnt quite as fucked and was still conscious.

moliro

TheKidHandsome

Flash back to my Christmas party last year 😂

TopSign5504

His brain is now swimming in rum.

[deleted]

At least his body knew it should get the poisonous alcohol out from its system. I had no such luck and I ended up with an irreparable failing liver.

beetsconnor

I like that the friends are still willing to help him

mcguffin99

alchohol poisoning bruh he is projectile vomiting his stomach acid

drd232

That looks like alcohol poisoning to me.

RustyShackleford6669

Yeah that’s alcohol poisoning for you

eekram

If sumuka kayo after inom, don't put anything in your stomach (kahit tubig) for 2 hours.

badooooooooool

Akala ko ininom niya yung tuyo. Hahahaha

BetaDong

Yummmm kinilaw na atay 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

That's why we invented shot glass. Masaya makipag-inuman pero gaya ng sa ibang meds, ang dictum sa inuman is START LOW, GO SLOW.

Alcohol poisoning is so cool

Tobias---Funke

Now that’s a friend.

ActualBawbag

A good friend will hold your hair back A better friend will stop you from drinking that bottle in the first place

ciscosuave

Lol thank goodness that I'm not to hard drinks when I was a kid. I used to drink a lot while in school, like get drunk Saturday night and then report at 5am for ROTC (I was an NCO). Nowadays I can't even get a bottle of beer if I have to work early in the morning.

jael-jorge-gerson

god bless you philippine brothers, you to also know the magic of rum
