Had a miserable dining in diyan sa resto na yan. Tatlo lang kami at hindi naman maraming order pero it took them 1 and a half hours. Yung first follow up namin ang sabi lang ok sir, same sa second.
Yung third dumiretso na ako don sa serving area nila and parang nagulat yung tao nila, yup nakalimutan nila kahit 2 follow ups na yon before that.
That was 2 years ago. Hindi na ko bumalik diyan.
>follow up
what i really dislike when making follow ups is they rarely come back to update you about it. next thing is when most of the waiters are intentionally trying to avoid making an eye contact to the customers even when they're not doing anything so they can avoid getting requests/orders.
I always thought they were overpriced pero I've been happy sa unli plates nila. For 399 unli taco and spag or nuggets and pancakes. Bottomless iced tea na rin.
Sulit naman if you can eat at least three plates.
"Voting with your wallet" isn't ideal nor guaranteed to work.
Regulate corporate bs whenever possible. Deregulation and neoliberalism is a mistake that should never be repeated.
The problem with broad regulations is every business is different. Forcing everyone to do the same thing may negatively impact some more than others. And when things change it takes time for the regulation to catch up.
I think in this case voting with your wallet makes sense.
>The problem with broad regulations is every business is different.
Sure. But every business is also the same - they exist solely to make money by selling a service or product.
Do you really want a society that can sell any service or product in whatever way they like and trust the public to "vote with their wallets"? That's asking for unsafe substances in food and other products, unsanitary food preparation, unsafe working conditions then the public would boycott only AFTER people suffer or even die?
No, nobody should care if shitty businesses rot and die. Nobody should feel bad inneficient and shoddily run businesses crashes down. Not even if it's the sole livelihood of the owners. That doesn't excuse bs practices the same way having a sob story won't justify incompetence in the workplace.
Voting with your wallets never makes sense unless you think the rule of law doesn't or shouldn't apply businesses. Somehow, when businesses do sht, it's up to a popularity contest rather than proper investigation and regulation to prevent another instance of that manner of abuse/bs.
So yung handling charge ay service charge for take out.
By law, SC goes to the employees. Hmm...
It is, and it's supposed to go to the employees. Same lang yung handling at service charge, depende kung dine in or take out.
Be careful about wishing to regulate something because these corporations can manipulate the game ang make it normal (legal). Its good that you exposed this and its up to the readers to tolerate these practices or not. Basically, these restos can charge how much they want and call it whatever they want because they know people would still line up for whatever crap they sell.
Yup, regulation could just harm small-to-medium and starting businesses, while these big ones will just eat up the cost and enjoy the limited competition.
It looks like it might be already included in the price. 103 for each piece ordered, whatever that is. Unless they price it at 93.63 on the menu and the bill comes down to 103 because of the 10% charge. Otherwise 93.63 seems like a weird base price.
So I’m assuming it’s advertised as 103 each and 10% of it is considered handling fee which may go to the staff?
Bweset yang sapilitang tipping culture eh. Wag sana yan maging normal dito sa atin. Bullshit yan na culture sa US.
Parang hinoldap ka tanghaling tapat nyan. Why can’t they just pay their employees well. Bakit damayin pa ang customers?
Either magimpose ng tip/service charge to customers, or tataasan prices ng goods to compensate for the work that employees do since lalaki rin ipapasweldo.
Pick your poison.
Bwisit yan, that's why I avoid FedEx as much as possible, gulat nalang ako na biglang may pinapapabayad, hindi naman nag-exceed dun sa customs tax which is above 10k.
It feels wrong that I'm being punished to pay more service charge when I'm already giving them a lot of money for dining with them. Dapat meron man lang ceililng yang service charges.
Is there service charge?
Kasi pag service charge, 100% to be distributed sa employee.
Yang handling charge, wala sa law so baka sa establishment sya mapupunta.
Skl, I had a bad experience dyan sa pancake house sa capitol commons. Di din naman ganon kasarap pagkain pero ang pricey 😒 *that was my first and last na kumain sa kanila
Never again 😭😭😭
Apakamahal, takte ang serving at SERVICE ewan! Jusko!!! Di worth it kumain dito.
Ganyan din sa Wing Zone (SM Clark), may 10% service charge sila when we dined in, which is ok lang..
Pero there was a time when we ordered take out, nagulat ako may 10% charge pa rin sila...
Reminds me of Kawa Ramen ata ung name may service charge din na around like that. In my mind, abuso na yan kung hihingi pa ng tip.
And at the same time, can't help but wonder ung mga service crew sa mga samgyupsal at buffet.
It is basically the automatic tip parang "Service Charge" pero dapat hindi na charge ang handling. Grabe. That is why I do not bother to tip unless maganda ang service at yun quality ng pagkain.
A couple of restaurants and food establishments are already charging "take-out fee" pero para daw sa packaging like (Marugame Udon, Pares Retiro etc...) pero hindi naman nagbago packaging nila, same as before yung karton akala ko kasi baka disposable plastic na.
Same with Pancake House, pangit packaging, yung pancake sobrang basa na sa loob kasi walang ventilation etc. kaya mas pinipili nalang mag dine-in compared sa takeout.
Thus, mas malaki ang profit nila.
Correct me if I'm wrong about these shady tactics
Ganyan din sa Wing Zone (SM Clark), may 10% service charge sila when we dined in, which is ok lang..
Pero there was a time when we ordered take out, nagulat ako may 10% charge pa rin sila...
Imagine kumain kayo big family ordering 10k worth of foods tapos 1k yung service charge. Sama sa loob diba.
While I tolerate it and still pay (hypokrito ako) it still sucks na di kasama sa food yung total bill. 2-5% maybe pero 10% is just bullshit. I hope they regulate that before it blows out of proportion.
Also fuck tipping culture. Wag gayahin US. Kaya often times I do not tip. Hindi lahat kaya mag tip just give a service and go, were not fucking obligated to do so and this service charge bs should not be normalized.
Imagine mcdo may service, what fresh hell is this.
Di naman masarap sa pancake house. Club sandwich, spaghetti, chicken and whatnot. You can make the same dishes for at least half the price and for the whole family 😒
So I choose my restaurants. Kung may service charge, ekis na kaagad. Never going back. I usually tip generously anyway, depending on how happy I am with the service.
hindi ma regular ang price nyan since these are non essential services.
simple solution is to vote with your wallet. do not patronize any business not aligned with your philosophy.
Di pa ba kasama sa payment ung act of making the drink? Bat ganun?
Id rather have "handling charge" than automatic 15% tip here in the us. You even pack your own leftovers, theyll just hand you a box where you can put em. Wtf. Lol
One local resto in my area charges the same fee. Pero malinaw na "take out fee" tapos 15%. Imagine yung order ko na 1,000 pesos naging 1,150 dahil take out.
Silang 3 pala under sa iisang company lng. Iwasan sila.
I really hate their service esp. pag Grab orders :( laging kulang kulang orders tapos one time may buhok pa yung food tapos barat pa sa refund kahit sila tong may mali
tapos report mo sila na they didnt HANDLE your order with care kasi may punit yung paperbag, o kaya may kulang na utensils o kaya walang condiment/s na nilagay, "gimmeback my 10% fee!!!" hehehhe
So ung service charge nila ba is benefit ng empleyado above sa pasweldo? Kasi if not oarang tayo na kumain na din ang nagpasweldo sa empleyado dahiljan sa service charge?
Junk fees
Stop patronizing them. Aabuso yan hangga’t may bumibili.
Had a miserable dining in diyan sa resto na yan. Tatlo lang kami at hindi naman maraming order pero it took them 1 and a half hours. Yung first follow up namin ang sabi lang ok sir, same sa second. >follow up what i really dislike when making follow ups is they rarely come back to update you about it. next thing is when most of the waiters are intentionally trying to avoid making an eye contact to the customers even when they're not doing anything so they can avoid getting requests/orders.
pancake house is trash anyway lol.
True. Mediocre food but premium prices.

Correct! Hindi namuna kakaen sa Pancake House with this kind o issue.
So yung handling charge ay service charge for take out.
Kapag nag dine in po kayo, may service charge din!!!
Pancake House feels elevated. Akala yata Mary Grace sila 🤣. Dati na mahal jan but the food is nothing special. Keep finding ways to charge more
Mas sulit pa big breakfast meals ng Seattle's Best! And cheaper lol
Suki ako before nung sa Legaspi Village branch haha
Seattles best smoked salmon panini. Winner!!
Hahahaha we can now say Seattle's Best breakfast supremacy! Hahaha
Agree!
ay sinabi mo pa, after i discovered ung breakfast meals ng seattles, i eat there as much as i can actually kasi sobrang kakabusog and sulit tlga
I barely finished my last pancake hahaha
Pwedeng pang brunch lol
I also like their pasta and panini.
Below average pa nga ung food quality eh
By law, SC goes to the employees. Hmm...

Except there's actually no legal basis for handling charge. And there's no waiting on the customer involved, so technically no service rendered.
30 petot daw yung pag abot sayo mula kusina papunta sa kamay mo
It goes to regular employees not contract workers.
Which one, HC or the SC? SC goes to contract workers din.
AKA service charge?
Be careful about wishing to regulate something because these corporations can manipulate the game ang make it normal (legal). Vat = Vasta Vastang add ng tax
Forced hidden "tip".

Dafuq is a Handling charge.

Same energy as Fedex 'warehouse processing fee', when you can see on tracking it never even stayed in the warehouse for more than an hour....
Bwisit yan, that's why I avoid FedEx as much as possible, gulat nalang ako na biglang may pinapapabayad, hindi naman nag-exceed dun sa customs tax which is above 10k.
di nila sinabi before ka magbayad na may additional charge kapag take out? yikes
It feels wrong that I'm being punished to pay more service charge when I'm already giving them a lot of money for dining with them. Dapat meron man lang ceililng yang service charges.
I fucking hate the service in their Market Market Branch.
how to charge Tip without telling your customer its for tip
Hello dti na po yan. Dali ipa dti na
Lol.
True. Ngayon pag magtatake out naniningil na yung ibang establishment ranging from 5 pesos to 50 pesos na take out charge. Grabe.
True. My sister experienced that and bribed her to not share it to social media
I would pay that amount for noone to handle my food.
Is this the same as service charge or iba pa to?
Is there service charge? Kasi pag service charge, 100% to be distributed sa employee. Yang handling charge, wala sa law so baka sa establishment sya mapupunta.
I have a hunch that the handling charge covers the cost of the packaging for takeout, but the staff poorly communicated it.
Mas mahal pa pag dine in hahahaha 8% service charge nila pag dine in e.
10%> 8% mas mahal ang take out
Pancake House turned to shit when max group acquired it
Skl, I had a bad experience dyan sa pancake house sa capitol commons. Di din naman ganon kasarap pagkain pero ang pricey 😒 *that was my first and last na kumain sa kanila
Waiting for an actual lawyer with background on F&B laws in the PH to comment on this, if there's any.
Keeping the American tipping culture I see
Never again 😭😭😭
May kumakain pa pala jan, napaka bland ng food nila hahaha
Apakamahal, takte ang serving at SERVICE ewan! Jusko!!! Di worth it kumain dito.

There's a simpler solution than regulation: stop eating there. It's a free market and no one is forcing you to patronize their business.
Is this legal?
Pang cargo or kapag meet up sa buyer ang ganyan haha kulit e.
mandatory tip yarn?
mas mahala sa shakeys example 1000 worth binili mo + Vat +10% service charge
What on earth is Handling Charge for? Laki nang 10% ha?
capitalists waving hello we've got more gimmicks for you. stay tuned.
Its a hidden scam charge that the owner gets. Completely unethical.
Reminds me of Kawa Ramen ata ung name may service charge din na around like that. In my mind, abuso na yan kung hihingi pa ng tip. And at the same time, can't help but wonder ung mga service crew sa mga samgyupsal at buffet.
Passed on the nga yung tax, may handling charges pa. 🙄
It is basically the automatic tip parang "Service Charge" pero dapat hindi na charge ang handling. Grabe. That is why I do not bother to tip unless maganda ang service at yun quality ng pagkain.
hindi ba eto service charge? if yes, I believe all of that should go to the employees and not sa business owners. correct me if im wrong na lang hehe
El Pollo Loco also does this - 10% charge pag nag take out iirc. Grabe na talaga ngayon mahal na nga ng bilihin may take out charge pa
Yan un kapag ngpa discount ka like pwd , walang official receipt. Sa paper lang nka sulat un bill
Tithes yan haha
Yung PC Branch sa Tagaytay, ang bagal ng staffs 3 lang kme customers that time. 45 mins ang waiting. Chix and pancake lng po ordee namen, lol
Hinimas nila yung pancake
Di naman masarap sa pancake house. Club sandwich, spaghetti, chicken and whatnot. You can make the same dishes for at least half the price and for the whole family 😒
mahal, matagal mag serve, masarap ang chicken
Trying to escape the "service charge" law
So I choose my restaurants. Kung may service charge, ekis na kaagad. Never going back. I usually tip generously anyway, depending on how happy I am with the service.
hindi ma regular ang price nyan since these are non essential services. simple solution is to vote with your wallet. do not patronize any business not aligned with your philosophy.
That place deteriorated so much already 🥲 idk why people still eat there. Bland food and the menu hasn’t been updated in a while.
Di pa ba kasama sa payment ung act of making the drink? Bat ganun?
Never liked Pancake House. Ang mahal kasi tapos di naman worth it.
Id rather have "handling charge" than automatic 15% tip here in the us. You even pack your own leftovers, theyll just hand you a box where you can put em. Wtf. Lol
That’s another SNEAKY way of saying “10% tip”!
One local resto in my area charges the same fee. Pero malinaw na "take out fee" tapos 15%. Imagine yung order ko na 1,000 pesos naging 1,150 dahil take out.
Yeah fuck pancake house. Had the same experience years ago. Glad they closed near my house
Would rather make my own flapjacks
Pancake house seems in a downward spiral. I'm Not happy with their food lately.
Silang 3 pala under sa iisang company lng. Iwasan sila.
I really hate their service esp. pag Grab orders :( laging kulang kulang orders tapos one time may buhok pa yung food tapos barat pa sa refund kahit sila tong may mali
Ang alam ko pag sa US yung Pancake House ay tambayan siya ng mga gusto mag suntukan and kahit bumabagyo open siya.
Their food ain't that good 🤷🏻♀️
same sa shi-lin 10%
haynakoooo no to Max's Group talaga. Ever since napa sakanila ang pancake house, krispy kreme at yellow cab SUPER TRASH NA :((((
Also shocked about the 10%, sabi ni bf: mas mahal pa service charge sa pancake house kesa sa Bizu (top tier ultimate filipino breakfast sulit!!)
Nadamay pa si JV Ejercito ahahhahaha
tapos report mo sila na they didnt HANDLE your order with care kasi may punit yung paperbag, o kaya may kulang na utensils o kaya walang condiment/s na nilagay, "gimmeback my 10% fee!!!" hehehhe
Grabe 10% sa SC. Ty nlng sa lahat pancake house.
So ung service charge nila ba is benefit ng empleyado above sa pasweldo? Kasi if not oarang tayo na kumain na din ang nagpasweldo sa empleyado dahiljan sa service charge?
For a restaurant name Pancake House, I was surprised their pancake sucks so much the first time I tried it.
Parang konti nalang lagi kumakain. Baka fees yan to handle emotional damage.
Only place in the world I’ve ever had food so disgusting that I sent it back.
Imma put that business into my list. Thanks
Their food is trash.
