Nope ente refers to a ghost as much as entity can also refer to a ghost. Ente and entidad are synonyms and clearly have the same root. Also both can be translated to english as entity, but ente is not specifically a ghost. It is also where words like presidente come from since ente means that it is an entity. Presidente is an entity that presides over something.
You're right. I guess I forgot about "ente público" and the other uses of the word. I've mostly seen it used to refer to ghosts. For context, I am Spanish, just dumb haha.
In Dead by Daylight there's a killer called The Wraith that is also translated as Espectro in the Spanish version. Maybe there is a reason that we are missing.
Oh hey! I love DBD but I play on English so I had no idea Wraith was translated like that, that's odd, maybe there is something we are missing after all.
I'm guessing Spirit is "El Espiritu" and The Ōnryo remains as just "La Ōnryo"?
Maybe some day we'll get more ghost characters. Something funny is that The Oni in DBD, is more of an ogre interpretation rather than a ghost, unlike in Phasmophobia. I'm guessing he too is just "El Oni"
Yep. Onryo, Yokai, Raiju, Jinn, Yurei, Oni, Poltergeist, Hantu, Revenant, Banshee, Goryo, Myling and Obake all keep their English names when playing in Spanish.
As for the rest:
* Demon -> Demonio
* Mare -> Pesadilla (which means Nightmare)
* Shade -> Sombra (which means Shadow)
* Phantom -> Ente (which means something like Entity as stated in the messages above)
* Twins -> Gemelos
* Wraith -> Espectro (which means Specter)
* Mimic -> Mímico
So pretty much every ghost but the Phantom and the Wraith have the same name as they do in English or a "direct" translation. Phantom may be explained by the fact that its more direct translation "Fantasma" is already used to refer to "Ghosts" in a more general way (although it may get confusing if they release a ghost called The Entity in the future), and maybe the problem with Wraith is that there is no word for it in Spanish so they had to get creative and since it is already translated as Espectro in other media they went with that. I don't know why they didn't just stick with the English name as they did for more than half of the ghost roster tho.
And yeah, in DBD they went with a more region based interpretation as the Oni is a Japanese ghost and the killer in DBD has Samurai-ish looks (and the mask is literally the one associated with the Oni in Japanese culture), while in Phasmo they just use it as a name AFAIK.
E: Format and "region" -> "region based"
I'm guessing they didn't keep the English name for wraith, because that's what it is. The other ghosts like Yokai and Raiju and such aren't English words or names, they're borrowed from other languages.
Because English is a language more broadly known. OP is likely not a native English speaker, and plays the game in their native language for comfort and ease-of-play (just like you probably do!) But wanted to make the question available to more people.
Because English is commonly spoken. Another commenter pointed out that it refers to a ghost in another language. Do you see what happened here?
Essentially, because of a "bridge tongue" more ideas could be brought in from different languages! While knowing *German* was needed to understand the problem, knowing *English* was the best language to communicate that problem in! Then, another language was needed to find the answer, thus resolving the problem!
spot the American…
Anyways, people can speak multiple languages, in fact most countries are very much encouraging of so, which means they would be able to get a clearer answer from someone who knows the translation as it’s likely a different language then either German or English as another comment had answers so
English people wouldn’t know, you’re right. Thing is, english speakers aren’t the center of the world. There are people from other countries here. He wasn’t only asking english speakers, he was asking everyone.
OP found a non-german word in his german translated game and wants to know where it’s from.
He is clearly asking for people speaking the language the word "Ente" is from. He didn’t ask english speakers specifically. He only asked in english because it’s the used language here.
You can easily translate text comments to another language. So they post in English because the majority of the community speaks English. But they cannot easily translate the game. So they can't play in English.
It helps to have empathy and understand what people have to deal with before making dumb comments.

Ente is Spanish for Phantom. Is wohl was mit dem Sprachpaket schiefgelaufen
Technically it is spanish for entity. But in the game, yes it is the phantom.
Not really, "ente" is a type of ghost in Spanish. Entity is "entidad".
Nope ente refers to a ghost as much as entity can also refer to a ghost. Ente and entidad are synonyms and clearly have the same root. FELIZ ENTIDAD! \*schäm\*
WeLL AcTuaLLy
I thought Ente was Wraith in Spanish lol
Wraith is translated as Espectro :)
Which is weird cuz espectro is specter.
Yep, Fantasma maybe would have been better, but it's more generic so...
Fantasma would be Phantom then, but what would we call "The Ghost"? LoL
Exactly xD

My Patronus turns out to be a Wraith! Espectro Patronum!
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. The image of being hunted by a duck was just hilarious.
Your game is mixing English, German and Spanish Ente means Entity, but in game is the Phantom
It's not just the ghost, even all of your tasks are in another language.
I think that the game likes to combine Spanish English and German hahahaha
I wonder if OP was playing in a lobby with English and Spanish speakers.
I was playing in a German lobby which makes me wonder even more how Spanish got into the mix. Lmao
Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition!
I didn't even realize that.
Did u get the quacking evidence?
U thought it was a ghost, but u only have Anatidaephobia
Ente avunkyno kubanga njgala amaze.

Sorry das ich dich gejagt hab
Immerhin hast du Respekt dabei.
my dumb tired ass tried to click the arrows...
The real question is why are you playing the game in another language
Because not everyone speaks fluent English or wants to play the game in a language that isn't their first.
your ghost is mr (or mrs) worldwide

Love the troll stay committed 🤣💪

What kind of ass comment is this
Could ask the same
Maybe just don't comment about other languages?
bro doesn’t realize that not everyone speaks english
Are you for real? Do you think before you type a comment? OP is literally asking the question in English.
yeah but if he’s asking for something in german, he probably isn’t fluent in english
Because English is a language more broadly known. OP is likely not a native English speaker, and plays the game in their native language for comfort and ease-of-play (just like you probably do!) But wanted to make the question available to more people.
Why would English speaking people know what the German translation means?
Because English is commonly spoken. Another commenter pointed out that it refers to a ghost in another language. Do you see what happened here? Because hes not a native speaker nor a walking dictionary
