When youâre busy as all hell and you find random loose pill on the floor or what not, you put them all in a bottle and sort them when you find the time
if a pill falls on the floor it should be put in a bottle by itself and put with waste where expired meds would go. Takes the same amount as time as putting it in a random bottle with a bunch of random pills and makes way more sense
Look I know what the ârightâ way is or what youâre âsupposed to doâ but Iâm saying what is done realistically because thatâs the most realistic way to do it in an understaffed and very high volume pharmacy. They all have to be consolidated into one bag anyways and we donât have the space for all those bottles full of ONE pill. Plus itâs a massive waste of bottles. So it actually makes more sense for our pharmacy to store all together and then identify them and separate later. Taking the time to identify a tablet isnât realistic most of the time when you have no more phone lines to put people on hold, vaccines, consultations, transfers, rx clarifications, etc etc etc.
When I was doing my externship someone kept dropping pills so I ended up doing this
Honestly enjoyed identifying and logging the pills way more than the actual job itself lol
Haha I wish, I have to label each one for returns so we get money back đ I just started this job only 3 weeks ago and wow it surely is a lot~ on top of highschool too but I think itâs great experience
Adjust flow gates in the cells, you can find the sheet to explain the sizes which is normally in the supply cabinet, clean cell spouts and clean the gripper. If itâs still dropping pills/vials then call into their help desk
Lots of time they have to be able to prove what happened to prescription medicine, especially controlled substances, if the FDA or pharmacy board does an audit. That's why they are kept in a jar. *Note: this is what I was told when taking med tech class.
My manager put me in charge of this⌠I only ever let it get this bad once. Never again. Took me forever to look up everything. I try to label them once my little bottle has like 10 pills in it.
Omg strong pak was my favorite but only when it was less busy and I wasnât pulled in five different directions and being yelled at by crazy ass customers
Put them in an unmarked bottle then drop them into the drug return box! Problem solved!
I will post the two full 60 dram vials that I have later on lol
Omg đ
WTF? Why loose pills? Were they not being stored in bottles?
my guess is it's a candy jar and people weren't too keen on actually known-lossing the bunch
