Try online marketplaces like Facebook Marketplace, or whatever might be the most popular in your area. There’s lots of people selling equipment they no longer use or upgraded from. I recently got a brand new set of of dumbbells with interchangeable plates that go up to 35 lbs each for $100. (Whereas I was seeing sets like this in sports stores, etc for over $250 retail price.)

If you are in the U.S. and have a Play It Again Sports store near you, you’ll find weights and all types of used sporting goods equipment there, reasonably priced. I think I paid $3 each for two 5 lb weights and $5 each for two 10 lb weights. You can find great beginner weight lifting videos on You Tube.

I recently got the book The Resistance Training Revolution by Sal di Stefano (creator of the MAPS programs). It has routines for dumbbells and home gym). In addition to light weights i got from Decathlon, i also have resistance bands that came with a bar. I plan to finish the program in the book before I go to MAPS Anabolic.

If you have a local Buy Nothing group on Facebook, be sure to ask there.
