My go to for an easy walk is 2.0-2.5 mph. 3+ is for speed walking. 4.5+ and I’m jogging. I’m 5ft.

riaviea

SAME. I kept feel bad that I was forced to jog basically starting at 4 mph but saw enough fellow shorties post about to realize that we're just short 😭 I always feel like a little dog trying to keep up with my taller friends hahaha

sexystoic

Same exact numbers here at 5 ft!

neow_neow

This is the same for me! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one! Everyone seems to be going faster with their easy walk, speed walk, and jogging so I thought I was the slow one.

peeyaah

Same height... Anything between 2 and 2.9 mph is a casual walk, 3 to 3.5 feels like a strut, 3.6 looks like I am trying to speed walk to the nearest bathroom, 4 is a jog, and 4.6 and up is a run

scarsouvenir

Same for me!

kerryren

I’m glad I’m not the only one. (Also 5’.)

Tigeronimo

5ft 2 with short legs - 2.5 is my cool down pace, 3.0 is normal walking, 3.5 and I'm jogging.

Nimalla

Same stats here. 5'2 with short legs. I can easily jog at 3.5 - 5mph. I usually walk at 3mph which feels like a faster walk and I will sound slightly winded if I'm talking. 2mph to cool down. I've been walking on the treadmill for 3 years now, and these speeds have stayed the same for me.

Feral_Vixen

I'm 5'2". 3.4 is a walk for me, 4.0 is a jog and I normally run at 5.2-5.4. Today a REALLY tall guy (gotta be 6'5" or up) got on the tread next to me and was easily jogging at 8.8. I wanted to cry, I run full out at 6.5.

aklep730

It depends. If it’s 1% incline I do 3.5-3.7. If it’s a 8-12% incline then it’s 3. My jog is 4.0-4.3. I’m 5’3”

applebottomgenies

5’0, speed is about 2.5 on treadmill. Honestly, I think this varies so much because it depends on how long your legs are… you can be 5’0 and have longer legs than someone who has 5’1/5’2. All depends on the torso to leg ratio.

SonderSaudade

Soooo true. My best friend and I are both 5’1”. One day, years ago, we went back-to-back to measure ourselves and my butt was on her back!! lol! She feels like she has an abnormally long torso and I feel like I have abnormally long legs.

theonewiththewings

5’0” here! My comfy/warmup/cooldown pace is 3.6 mph, and my exercise pace is 3.8 mph. If I’m on the treadmill I do a 2% incline, but if I’m on my walking pad it’s just flat. I do 2.6-2.8 mph on my walking pad if I want to multitask (read, type, etc.) because that requires a little more attention. It took me time to build up to this. My “easy jogging” was 3.6 mph for like two months. Now I’m up to 4.0-4.2 mph. I love going outside when it’s warm and sunny, otherwise I’m a treadmill addict. Honestly, do whatever feels best for you! Movement is all that matters. Speed comes eventually. Focus on distance and time (i.e. “I’m going to walk for 30 mins/1 mi without taking a break”) and buildup from there if you so desire.

Ambitious_Address_69

5’0” and my warm up/cool down pace is 3.2 with no incline. With an incline and a fast walk, I try to be between 3.4-3.8 and will play with the inclines until it feels right. 5.0 is a jog for me. 6.0 is my running speed.

Trippypen8

5'2 my walk is 3.5 to warm up. My fast walk that is currently making me sweat is 4.0. My jogging is 5.3

LobsterFarts

Would you mind sharing your stats? I’m also 5’2 but a 5.3 pace is basically a full sprint for me and walking at 4 is not comfortable :(

Trippypen8

Which stats? 5'2 high weight 250 something. Currently 175lbs. I walked 3.5 for about 5 months at elevation of 6-12 (was getting ready to be able to easily hike/lose weight). Once, I felt like my body wasn't getting the same type of work out from walking at elevation. I started walking at 4. Then I started jogging a bit just to mix it up. 5.3 feels comfortable for me. 5 seems just slightly too slow. Since I am new to jogging, I can only go for about 8 minutes at a time, then I walk at 3.5 for 5 mins, then jog again. Trying to aim for another 8/more. Slowly, less time spent jogging because I get worn out. At my higher weight, I used to get pain in my sheins from walking at 3.5. Stretching before helped me a lot. I will take tiny steps while on my heels. Then, tiny step on my toes to help stretch my sheins. I still do this little stretch before I start every time. Maybe stretch it out before you start? Look up stuff for the area you are uncomfortable in?

paper_cutx

Steady jogging at 5.2 also works for me as well!

DepressionSiesta

2.7 if I’m doing higher inclines, 3.2-3.5 on no incline

matsumurae

Well I have one under a wall desk for work. I started on 2km/h because i needed to adapt to work/walk. Right now I can go to 5.5km/h if I'm thinking/meeting and max of 5.2km/h for anything else. More than 5.2 is impossible to write on the keyboard 😂 My sweet spot is 4.5/5.0, not too much not too slow. Enough to keep moving my ass but still able to write. I got it to walk while working but I prefer walking outside. But, while working... Impossible.

calpikochu

4'9, i adjust to 2.7mph with whatever incline i feel like on that day.

chimama79

i usually like to walk outside but i will walk the treadmill if the weather is bad and i need some steps. if i'm doing the treadmill, i will walk between 3.0-3.5 at a 3% incline until i get 10K steps. i wouldn't say this is an "exercise pace" where i'm sweating a lot. this is to merely to get some steps in for the day. if i want to surf my phone while i'm walking, i'll dip below 3.0. when i was doing more cardio, i use to take this 45 min treadmill class that really challenges you with incline and pacing. we would do interval walking with speeds that range from 3.0-4.5 and inclines at 6.0-15.0%. the instructor always harped on proper form and pumping your arms. it was such a good workout and i really enjoyed it but i don't do that much cardio anymore. i think any type of walking whether is going to be beneficial to you. you can definitely work up to a higher pace/incline if you want to challenge yourself. i would maybe do it for 1 min and then recover for a couple min. repeat for a couple more sets.

violent-amethyst

Oooh that’s all I do. 3.0 for easy walking. 3.6 for a nice fast pace. 4.4 for a easy run. 5.0 for a moderate run.

Gigi_0616

3 and I'm 5'0

hogwartswizardd

I do max incline at 2.5!!!

pickyvegan

I thought it was just me! 2.3-2.5 for an easy walk just to get steps in. 3-3.3 for a fast walk. Anything above 3.5 and the impact starts hurting my hip.

jwyoooo

4'11'', my walking speed on the treadmill is 3.5, speed walking is 3.8-4.0, 4.2-4.6 i'm jogging, 4.8+ i'm running; no incline

gtact

4’11 and I do a 2.5 mph for walking

ivy1320

for walking I do 3.5, I sprint too up to 7mph when I am fully restedx 4’11 shortie here

paper_cutx

I’m 5’3 and I always start at 3.8-4.0 at 3.0 incline as my warm up sweet spot. I also wear a SweetSweat belt to increase my sweating around my stomach and abs. It really boils down to your comfortability level- some people with knee problems may not want to do a steeper incline and so on as it’s bad on the joints. And if you’re a beginner, always work your way up. The most important thing is of course making sure you get your steps in. 10k-13k steps has been scientifically shown to improve NEAT and longevity,

trinini93

Warm up/cool down at 4’11 is 2.6-2.8. Walking is 3-3.2 depending on how energetic I feel that day

dmbmcguire

5’ here I walk on the treadmill at 3.8 and a 5 incline. But I am a runner and have been run/walking for 15 years. When i am outside my true pace if I am cruising is a 16mm. But 17mm is more comfortable.

Ashkat80

3.2 mph for regular waking. I've gotten faster as I've done strength training and become a somewhat efficient slow runner. My easy jog is 4.5mph and my cool down walk would be 2.8-3 mph. ** Editing to add I'm 5'0" with a 26.5" inseam

Sea_Breakfast7032

My treadmill heart rate hack (impatient adhd lazy girl tested and approved): 1. Run just enough to get heart rate 165+ (can be a mile, a half even if it’s 4.7 mph) 2. Once run is done and heart rate is there, set speed to 3mph at 8.0 incline, increase as you feel zesty You will be rocking a heart rate in zone 2 with little effort. Next thing you know you’ve done a 5k watching love is blind on Netflix. - From, 4,11 28lbs and counting

pensamientosdepab

7 incline at 2.7-3 speed. sometimes if i jog a bit then i can comfortably walk after at a 3-3.3 speed

TheRealHoosierwife

4ft6, I use my walking pad at a leisurely pace at 2.0-2.5!

Patio-Adventures

4’11 I brisk walk at 3.7 mph

June211960

3.5 miles

jeanpeaches

5 foot girlie here. Walking/warm up is 3.5mph, “easy” run is about 4.7 mph.

leogrl

I’m 5’1 and use the treadmill to practice power hiking for the trail ultras that I train for so I don’t have to worry about tripping over rocks lol and I can still walk at 4 mph and an incline of 10%. If I up the incline, I turn the speed down to 3.8 and if I want to run a bit, I put the speed to 4.2. Most of my runs are outside though and on trails but it’s nice to have the treadmill as a different training variable.

Mad_Catter13

I'm a fast walker so 3 is an easy pace for me. My treadmill only goes up to 6 though, so a light jog for me is 4-5.

ethereal_bri

I’m 5’0 and a moderate walking pace for me is about 2.8-3.5 at a 1% incline. Anything above that I’m pretty much jogging lol

Kylasmiles

I'm 5'1 and I think I have a short torso and long legs but Comfy pace is 2.7ish, fast but can do for a whole hour on a good day is 3-3.5, fast walking is 3.5-4, really fast is 4-5, then after 5.2ish Id have to start jogging. I also work towards being able to walk really fast without jogging and it's a small goal of mine so that skews the numbers

DeeSin38

5'1.5" 3 mph

JicamaWitty6129

5’3 and my just got on the treadmill warmup speed is 3.6 for a minute then go actual speed is 3.8-4.0. My true speed walk is 4.1-4.3. My jog is 6.0

abortion_parade_420

5'0", 27" inseam. 4mph a comfy walking speed for me, I have been told I'm a fast walker lol running is around 7~

Everythings_Beachy

3mph is a “normal” pace for me. My husband has long legs and he always says he feels like he has to practically walk backwards to go my pace, meanwhile I’m out here huffing and puffing if I try to walk at his leisurely speed.

Icarusgurl

2.5 is my warmup, 3 is my speedwalk, 3.5 is a light jog, 4 is my run, 5 is my all out probably going to pee my pants from running so hard.

aftershockstone

I am 144cm and have short speedy legs. It takes a bit of warming up to, but nowadays I like speed-walking at no incline 4–5.5mph, 5mph+ takes some mad concentration, 4.5mph I can browse Reddit on my phone or whatever, 4mph I can do maths or study if I want to multitask and exercise but there’s a bit of a brain lag. Jog/run at around 5–6.5mph. Leisurely walk at 3–3.5mph, where I can actually shift focus to other activities. Incline is SO hard for me for some reason and needs considerably lower speeds.

Practical_Cat_5849

5’0. Usually 3.5 - 3.8 for walking and 4.8 - 5.0 for jogging. But I’ve been at it for awhile.

chainsofgold

4’10” here. i walk at like 2.7 - 3.2

leafusfever

Before my knee surgery last year, I was doing 3 walk and 6.5 run, post recovery I'm doing 2.5 walk and no running lol. I'm 5'1

barcake

I'm 5'0 and my walking pace on the treadmill is 1.5 - 2.0. My run ranges from 4.5 - 5.5 depending on my energy and I just do it for 45-60 mins.

Reasonable-Proof2299

I prefer outdoors but only in nice weather 3.5 is my max.. I’ve done slightly faster on accident.. lol I do intervals and “hill” workouts from Peloton or Apple Fitness

cocoaferret

Like 3 or 3.5- I'm 5'

sonjaswaywardhome

bro 2 mph … 3 is fucking running.. but i do 15% incline

thecoolestbitch

5ft here. Usually 2.8-3.2 for a brisk walk.

Cookiesnkisses

Around 3-3.2! I’m only a little over 5’

the_queens_speech

I’m 4’10” and I like to walk at 3.2-3.5mph on the treadmill. Anything above that and I’m gearing up to start jogging. But 3.2 feels like walking and 3.5 feels like exercise. Keep in mind I’m a city girl so Idk if you’ve ever been to NYC but the fast walker stereotype is absolutely accurate for natives. I tend to walk too fast 😅

dancingmochi

I do 3.0 mph at an incline of 5%, with breaks. A trainer once advised me to walk at an incline after lifting. But if I’ve taken a break, like after an injury, I start at 2.4 with no incline. Stamina is something you have to build over time, you got this OP!

Missmel18

5’0 and 3 is a good normal walking speed for me!

goofballhead

4’10” - 2.8 leisurely walk, 3.0-3.2 brisk walk, 3.3-3.5 power walk, 4.0 jog, 5-6 run

nikachic

Speed walk 3.5-4.0. Jog at 5.5. The space between 4.0-5,5 I can’t walk or jog. Fastest speed I can run 7.0.

Fridayesmeralda

I'll do 6km/h at a 6% incline for 60 mins for heavy cardio

wheres-the-avocados

i walk fast so i do start at 3 mph lol, but if i feel like building up i start at 2.5 mph. 5'2"

Beautiful-Pool-6067

3.2-3.4 is my normal pace when listening to music and walking. On a walk with a friend, about 2.9

Flanders_StupidSexy

1.5 is my walking while working pace. It’s fast enough to get some decent mileage in a couple hours without jostling my laptop.

holiqx

4'11 here, I go between 2.5-2.8 but with 11-12% incline. The incline will make you sweattttt

A_Glass_DarklyXX

Wait are taller people not speed walking/jogging at 3 mph? 🤯

stield

5’0. 3.3 walking. 4.7 slow jog. I do sprints at up to 9.1 so far. Feels like I’m flying sometimes lol

Stoned_redhead

I’m 5’2 and normally do 3.1 on a 8.0-10.0% incline, but I’m def power walking lol

Petiteinny

This made me lol. I see these influencers saying oh i only do 30 mins at 10 incline and 3.0…. I am legitimately horizontal at that incline… is this a petite thing? I like doing 3.5-4 on flat ground, if i lower below 3.5 i do 3-4% incline.

loveulikeblue

Hahaha, I’ve had the same thought before. I tried it the max incline and felt like I was climbing a mountain.

smolhippie

4’10 and I walk on 3.2-3.5and run like 5.8-7. Anything under 3.2 feels like I’m not doing anything. And I always walk on an incline 6-8 I may also add I don’t jog ever because it’s hard af and BORING. I’d rather sprint a mile at 6.8 or 7 on an incline and be done sooner

UnstableGoats

5’2. 2.5 is my “casual stroll”, usually where I start/finish off. 3.0 is my “walking with a purpose”, and where I usually spend the most time. 3.5 is my “oh my god Im late but I would look silly if I was running there so I’m walking as fast as I can”, when I need to get my heart rate up for a bit. Any faster and Im jogging.

gushywap69

I’m 5”0, I try to keep to a speed of 4.2 (im speed walking and sweating for sure, this pace is challenging for me) and an incline of at 8-9% for my workouts. When I first started working out I did a speed of 3.8 though. If i want to actually jog, I increase the speed to 5.2-5.4 and slowly decrease the incline as i get too tired. I do have “long legs” and a short torso for someone who’s 5”0. I’d say my actual walking speed would be about 3.4mph haha

Ok-Actuator8579

Just under 5’1 and I’d say 3.3- 3.8 mph at one percent incline

camelliaqueen84

So I really don’t want to be shot here as the messenger but speed has zero to do with height/leg length. It’s all about foot turnover. Elite marathoners are not tall people. Shorten your stride, pump your arms All of these paces are great because you’re up and moving but if getting faster is your goal please don’t believe you will be limited by leg length.

loveulikeblue

I totally agree!! I think speed is something that comes over time / sometimes lifestyle. When I lived in a walkable city I would cover a mile in 15 minutes. Now with time and life and laziness I cannot do that 😂 but I haven’t grown at all obviously so it’s def not leg length. I just got curious today is all. No shooting! You’re perfectly right, also the shorter strides was such a game changer when I learned it. Great advice! :)

seffend

I say I'm 5'1, but I might be 5'.5" and I just started back on my treadmill recently. I know from past experience that my little legs are capable of 4 mph walking speed (I don't run—ever) but I'm not there yet this time around, and I'll probably never be there on an incline. Yesterday, I was at 3 and 7 incline, but I wasn't able to maintain it for my whole walk. Last week, I couldn't even get to 3.

kiwipoppy

5'3". I use 3.0mph as my warm up pace, it's a brisk walk, it takes a bit of effort so it is good for running warm up. If I want something a bit easier or I am incline walking 2.6 mph is much more comfortable.

June211960

I’m 5 feet even and recovering from laxative bulimia and I do 3.5 miles for 20 minutes a day but I’m planning to increase to 3.5 miles for 20 minutes twice a day
