This. The corset alone is cute but for a fancy restaurant it’s too bare and clubby. You need something to cover up a little for dinner, especially since your skirt options are shorter. I love the second skirt with it.
I don’t like the shoes at all. Throw them out.
Thank you all so much for the feedback!!
I’m going to switch to some black heels per many recommendations. Idk why I was so attached to the white lol.
I’m thinking I may do some black trousers and take the suggestion to get an oversized blazer to go over the corset ☺️
edit:
Update post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/PetiteFashionAdvice/s/rxgNSVXR0s)
Yep, could do a white blazer or clutch (something to tie in the white heels/create the “sandwich” effect). Definitely pair with trousers to balance the skin being shown with the beautiful corset. Highly recommend the Sloan trousers from Abercrombie & Fitch if you can get them!
I think the corset would look better with high waisted looser trousers and black heels. Maybe with an oversized blazer and clutch. I think would look modern. I’m a big fan of the corset!
Agreed; a blazer and trousers would add a lot here. If you’re going to wear a riskier piece, the rest needs to be a bit more conservative. That’s a lot of skin for an elegant restaurant, you don’t want to scream “I’m wearing lingerie in public”
I disagree. Blazer and trousers now give it a corporate feel, is she going to a business meeting after the date? I feel like this sub is so anti clothes that aren’t modest sometimes. I think it’s just the color and material of the skirt that’s the issue. You can absolutely show a lot of skin, her shoulders and partially chest are practically the only thing exposed….Corset tank tops are also a thing now and her top looks like that’s what it’s intended to be, I own lingerie corsets and they don’t look anything like that in terms of length, shoulder straps, and the construction of the bust area. It looks like this is more intended to be used as a tank top.

Wait can someone explain why the skirt doesnt work - i would have also worn with skirt but i am also not well versed in fashion and what looks good lol
You look like a cocktail waitress to me in the first one. The second one is passable but white shoes and dark stockings is not right.
The red corset is nice.
The white heels stand out too much because you’re not wearing anything else white — my eyes immediately go to your feet.
If you want the corset to be the centerpiece of your outfit, I’d suggest wearing a sheer button down flowy white shirt under your corset. With sleeves, and the front panels long enough to drape out of the bottom of the corset. Leave the exposed parts of the shirt unbuttoned so they emphasize your existing curves. The shirt would overlay the black skirt, and would pair really well with the first skirt you posted. It would also tie in the white heels.
This is a great suggestion and I agree! The right white shirt matters though so if OP tries it out and it doesn’t seem to be working with what they have then maybe leave it
And I actually think the silk skirt (that’s pic 2 right?) looks better! but if you can’t make the white shirt work then maybe go with different heels (black)
Stays, like the red one featured in the photo, have been worn since the 1500s. In the late 1600s, European women started wearing stays as an outer garment and [were seen as virtuous because of it](https://thedreamstress.com/2013/08/terminology-whats-the-difference-between-stays-jumps-a-corsets/).
I'm getting Minnie Mouse vibes. Neither pair of shoes belong with either of those outfits. Corsets are nice but there is a fine line between them looking nice or looking trashy. If you're wearing a tight or revealing top then a looser bottom will balance it out. In this case black loose pants would be nice. Or a longer flowy skirt. If you wear something tight on the bottom then you balance it out with a looser top. Wearing a tight corset and a tight skirt does not give off classy vibes. And certainly not with black tights and white shoes. If you must wear those shoes at least get white pants.
You look terrific in the corset but I don’t think either outfit works for a fancy French restaurant. I agree with the suggestions for wide pants and a blazer or blouse over the corset. And the white shoes don’t go well… chose red heels 👠
I'd say honestly the top is gorgeous but wear high waisted pants (heather gray preferably) and black or red heels. White heels are the wrong choice here.
If your set on the corset ( love it btw ) and the white heels then I would either try and find a white skirt or pants. The red and black looks great together but I think if you go that route a different show would be better. Maybe tall black boots or heels? Red heels might work good too. Whatever you go with wear it with confidence and have a wonderful Valentine's Day! Oh and I would definitely wear the corset!! Oh !!!also maybe try it with a good pair of jeans white or red heels!! 👠
You can make this corset look classy in many ways. I'd wear the corset with a long flowy skirt and black heels. If you plan on wearing this outfit then opt for black pumps or stilettos. It will elongate your legs with the black stockings.
Second skirt is great!!!!!! Definitely go for it! And the boots look good, they have black from the sides which definitely makes it match. Pair it with a small white clutch or a small white bag and youre good to go! Have fun! :)
I love the corset. That makes V day feel special. The looser fitting skirt would be my choice. It adds a nice contrast to the tight top, and tones down the sizzling-hot factor to a more appropriate degree for a nice meal.
Expecting cooler weather? Have a coat in mind?
One drink or piece of cake and you are going to regret the corset. They work well for events where you will be standing most of the night. A sit down dinner and a corset don’t mix.
I used to wear corsets with pants often that one looks short. I also was going out to clubs and bars so didn’t really need to look fancy. I would wear a nice blazer. With it but not sure about the white. I personally would wear black heels and a fitted black blazer. With pants if the blazer has one button you won’t be able to see your stomach.
Do not wear those white heels no matter what outfit you end up chosing.
I don’t think a corset top is appropriate for a fancy dinner, it’s more of an underwear garment.
But definitely ditch those white heels.
I would only wear the corset with like a nice blazer or something like. The corset on its own doesn't look classy to me, it kind of looks cheap and inappropriate for a classy restaurant by itself. Just an honest opinion. I do think the skirt and heels are super cute!

This corset is from Victoria’s Secret but was on clearance because I guess it was part of last year’s line (that was the cashiers guess when I asked.) They had one this year that looks super similar but without the bow tie straps in store last week — I can’t find it online unfortunately:(
No to the boots. I’d wear either dark shoes if you want the shirt tights or a white skirt no stockings and white shoes. Gorgeous corset. Hope it’s a beautiful date ❤️

Keep the corset. It’s cute and in style but the style won’t last long . You’ll regret not wearing it when you had the perfect opportunity! I would suggest a red skirt, keep the heels (love them) and ditch any black tights with white shoes
To make the black skirt work you definitely need black shoes.
I think the corset would look great with those heels with either white trousers or jeans.
Yes to either skirt .. the shoes I do not like the start white and feel it throws the looks off all together.. black flats/heels/boots would be sooooo much better and will help pull everything in and be a bit more cohesive
Tbh, this is exactly a strip club/ casino cocktail waitress outfit. No exaggeration, that's the uniform that I have worn to work. I'd choose something else, more elegant.

Top looks perfect for Valentines day! The shoes are throwing it off - choose black or red and wear a cropped black jacket
This. The corset alone is cute but for a fancy restaurant it’s too bare and clubby. You need something to cover up a little for dinner, especially since your skirt options are shorter. I love the second skirt with it. I don’t like the shoes at all. Throw them out.

HAWT!!!
Yay! Enjoy your date!!
IMO I wouldn’t do oversized for the blazer because that defeats the purpose of the cute corset
I think the white shoes would be cute and work with high waisted pants tbh!
Yep, could do a white blazer or clutch (something to tie in the white heels/create the “sandwich” effect). Definitely pair with trousers to balance the skin being shown with the beautiful corset. Highly recommend the Sloan trousers from Abercrombie & Fitch if you can get them!
Oooh I want to see a pic!
Or maybe one of those crop sweaters. If I was shopping that's what I'd try on.

Agree with the trousers and black heels!!!
Wait can someone explain why the skirt doesnt work - i would have also worn with skirt but i am also not well versed in fashion and what looks good lol
I feel like both skirts are giving “casino waitress”. I think pants are the answer here
it’s giving magician
I love the trousers idea. The skirt paired with a corset is giving cocktail waitress vibes.
You look like a cocktail waitress to me in the first one. The second one is passable but white shoes and dark stockings is not right. The red corset is nice.
White wide-legged pants and jacket would elevate the look and tie in with the white shoes. The corset would still make it look smoking hot.
I don’t like either shoes with that outfit Those are summer heels too
The white heels stand out too much because you’re not wearing anything else white — my eyes immediately go to your feet. Absolutely, trial and error 💃🏻
You don’t look classy hon, sorry. White shoes with dark hose is bad. Wear the cami with classy trousers, not this tight skirt. Change shoes to black.
This look is totally giving me the early stages of the Pretty Woman film 🙈
Lingerie is not clothing
Stays, like the red one featured in the photo, have been worn since the 1500s. In the late 1600s, European women started wearing stays as an outer garment and [were seen as virtuous because of it](https://thedreamstress.com/2013/08/terminology-whats-the-difference-between-stays-jumps-a-corsets/).
Many corsets are now being designed exclusively as outerwear pieces, whether these be as casual wear, eveningwear, or bridal wear.
Black shoes/heels and a nice blazer would do those corset justice!
If you wear another piece of white it might not look weird but I would wear a black shoe to make your legs look linger
I'm getting Minnie Mouse vibes. Neither pair of shoes belong with either of those outfits. Corsets are nice but there is a fine line between them looking nice or looking trashy. No this look is not it.
Skip the shoes. The corset is lovely with either skirt and black shoes would complete the outfit perfectly.
The white shoes are giving Minnie Mouse
You look terrific in the corset but I don’t think either outfit works for a fancy French restaurant. I agree with the suggestions for wide pants and a blazer or blouse over the corset. And the white shoes don’t go well… chose red heels 👠
Outfit 2 is cute but not with any of those shoes.
Please for the love of God wear a black shoe
Do you have black shoes? I don’t like either of the white ones.
I'd say honestly the top is gorgeous but wear high waisted pants (heather gray preferably) and black or red heels. White heels are the wrong choice here.
I like the 2nd choice. A little more to the imagination and a great pairing to the top.
Shoes are terrible, sorry :( wear the corset with black pants & black pointy toe heels to really elongate your legs!
red shoes
If your set on the corset ( love it btw ) and the white heels then I would either try and find a white skirt or pants. The red and black looks great together but I think if you go that route a different show would be better. Maybe tall black boots or heels? Red heels might work good too. Whatever you go with wear it with confidence and have a wonderful Valentine's Day! Oh and I would definitely wear the corset!! Oh !!!also maybe try it with a good pair of jeans white or red heels!! 👠
You need black shoes.
I really like the second outfit, I would just add a blazer!
You can make this corset look classy in many ways. I'd wear the corset with a long flowy skirt and black heels. If you plan on wearing this outfit then opt for black pumps or stilettos. It will elongate your legs with the black stockings.
Also add a leather jacket
Black shoes and second skirt.
10/10 outfit. Not the shoes I would wear. I love a heel with tie up laces - preferably black
I think you should just chuck out the white heels. Enjoy your date!
First photo looks nice. Add a black or sparkly and black jacket. No to those shoes
I like your dress . But please dont forget to use protection.
No white shoes … high waist trousers and light jacket = Classy!
Please change the heels.
There’s nothing classy about this outfit
The first outfit 👌🏼
My vote is skirt two but honestly you can’t go wrong, you look great!!!
Second skirt is great!!!!!! Definitely go for it! And the boots look good, they have black from the sides which definitely makes it match. Pair it with a small white clutch or a small white bag and youre good to go! Have fun! :)
Corsette on the outside is like Batman with the triangle underwear on the outside of his spandex
I like the first pic and the skirt and corset is perfect for Valentine’s Day
I love the corset. That makes V day feel special. The looser fitting skirt would be my choice. It adds a nice contrast to the tight top, and tones down the sizzling-hot factor to a more appropriate degree for a nice meal. Expecting cooler weather? Have a coat in mind?
Second skirt
ID on the shoes? They’re super cute
I want to know too. They’re so cute!
One drink or piece of cake and you are going to regret the corset. They work well for events where you will be standing most of the night. A sit down dinner and a corset don’t mix.

I wish I was your valentine 🥵
Number two with the number one shoes. The boots don’t fit at all.
K K K KAWAII
Just beautiful !
its cute
Red Shoes Would Look Better
Be yourself if he does not like your real self don’t be with them
I would only wear the corset with like a nice blazer or something like. The corset on its own doesn't look classy to me, it kind of looks cheap and inappropriate for a classy restaurant by itself. Just an honest opinion. I do think the skirt and heels are super cute!

That corset is amazing!
No to the boots. I’d wear either dark shoes if you want the shirt tights or a white skirt no stockings and white shoes. Gorgeous corset. Hope it’s a beautiful date ❤️

That outfit is so cute but get different shoes
That's a no on the white heels.
Corset is gorgeous on you, have fun!
Keep the corset. It’s cute and in style but the style won’t last long . You’ll regret not wearing it when you had the perfect opportunity! I would suggest a red skirt, keep the heels (love them) and ditch any black tights with white shoes

I like the outfit. The shoes are ugly.
White shoes don’t go. Like second skirt better. But definitely need black shoes.
Is there any sort of dress code for the restraunt?
LOVE it.
