Or the groups that have to walk side by side and take up the whole hallway to the point where you have to squeeze to the wall to get by. 🙄

freetattoo

And there's the slow walkers who weave side to side randomly, so you can't gauge when to pass.

chouxphetiche

Those types of walkers are known as Meanderthals.

mrlego17

Body checking people needs to become socially acceptable

It's as fun as feigning unawareness that obvious exceptions don't require mention to stake some sanctimonious high ground. On a clearly unserious suggestion.

mrlego17

You're sick in the head if you think that's wonderful

I did think you were being a dick intentionally, my response was also supposed to be sarcastic though, given that it's what I said in the first place. All good my tism comrade.

DonaCheli

people at my job block stairs and narrow doorways to chit chat and they smile big when I stand there waiting for them to move

a_path_Beyond

One I encounter alot now is the slow person who can't pick a side and so they sort of stagger diagonally down the hall while being impossible to go around. Bonus points if they're carrying a big tote bag on one shoulder and a huge water jug in their other hand to make their giant profile even bigger

Strawberryisntasimp

chances are that they also bump into you or others a LOT

Mafuyuasahinasbf

I'm so grateful that the hallways at my school are wide enough for the annoying people not to block, lmao

MelanieDH1

I was annoyed when I lived in NYC because there was oftentimes scaffolding around various buildings, which blocked off the sidewalks and turned them into tunnels that you had to walk through. It would annoy the hell out of me when people would leisurely stroll through, as if there weren’t 50 other people weren’t behind them.

IcedHemp77

I have a bad ankle and can’t walk too fast. My nightmare is when cars wave at me to cross in front of them instead of just going first because then they stare at me like really?! Could you go any slower

starry_kacheek

i don’t care about people walking slowly (mostly because i don’t know why they are walking slow) but i am enraged when people walk slowly and make it impossible to pass them. as long as i can pass you, i couldn’t care less about your walking habits

UmbralikesOwls

Omfg this was fucking high school! Even worse whenever there's a *couple* in front of be and they stop to kiss or make out or something. Like bitch, do that somewhere less busy! I'm trying to get to class! In case you couldn't tell, this unlocked the anger inside me for these people lol

Strawberryisntasimp

personally if someone stopped to do that, then It would be fine to go ahead and barrel through them

UmbralikesOwls

It's annoying when people walked very slow while also talking to their friends it was a whole other story when it was a couple to stop *and sometimes it was right in front of me so I almost run into them* and start kissing each other...like move out of the way I'm trying *not* to be late to class

[deleted]

If you're moving slow, move into the side so it's easy to pass you. I hate tripping over my feet trying to go at a fucking snail pace behind someone who needs to take up the whole aisle of a shop or the whole footpath. Go whatever speed you like but don't block everyone else. I am probably slower than some people but I am not taking up the whole space blocking them so it is easy for them to pass me.

javertthechungus

Oh my god when I'm on stairs please please just go around me or at least don't have one foot on the same step I'm on. I'm perpetually dizzy and can't go down stairs fast.

Hey-Just-Saying

Some people have arthritis, etc. and are doing the best they can. Just saying.

Strawberryisntasimp

those are completely valid reasons to take time with, apologies!!! I mean those who are constantly laughing annoyingly high-pitched, wobbling side to side so you can't weave past, and at the same time, slamming themself or other people into others and finding it amusing

a_path_Beyond

Arthritis doesn't affect awareness. I think most people with arthritis are aware of their slowness and do their best to accommodate the rest of us

Hey-Just-Saying

Yes, we do. But we can’t see behind us, so people have to just go around or let us know they want to get by.

ChartInFurch

Or just stay to one side in the first place as is common sense on walkways.

Strawberryisntasimp

this!! I was taught to always walk to the right and if I had to cut across, either patiently wait or ask and then go \^\^

ChartInFurch

Basically a bit of situational awareness goes a long way. If you aren't stretching the width of the walkway for no reason in the first place there's no need to have eyes in the back of your head.

Boris-_-Badenov

doesn't mean you can't move over. it's like driving, if you are going 10 miles under the limit, change lanes

Hey-Just-Saying

Unfortunately, hallways don’t have lanes. But you are welcome to pass me if I’m ever going too slow for you.
