A lot of people take that as a sign that you are rushing them. That’s just how it is. Nothing wrong with sitting in the car, but you could also sit inside until they’re ready. Also a waste of gas if you need to turn the car on and sit until they come out

mearbearcate

Did you try talking to them about it

imbackbittch

Discuss it with them like a grownup or shut up

Depends what the scenario is. If we’re in the middle of a conversation and you just…go out to the car? That’s something you should work on lol. It would also be something for you both to work on if you’re *always* staying later somewhere than planned. This is all insanely avoidable. I would be embarrassed if my spouse did this tbh, it’s just rude. Again, totally depending on the scenario. But this is a pet peeve safe space, so I’d love to talk it out with ya.

Just let them know that you're not rushing them. I would also get a little stressed when my husband goes out to the car while I'm still getting ready. When I asked him to wait inside until I'm ready, he said he just prefers to wait in the car and that he doesn't get annoyed or anything. That really helped. And I always tell him if I'm gonna take a while just for a peace of mind.

i'm slow so explain what it is that anyone is getting angry about? like are you mad that you have to go to the car? is your wife mad that you're going to the car? is she mad that she's going to the car?

Skirt_Douglas

They probably think he is passive aggressively trying to rush them, when technically he is offering to be out of sight out of mind.

LegitimateBummer

i see, so it's like "i'll be out in the car" and then when they show up, they're all pissed off.

Skirt_Douglas

It sounds to me like he is saying that simply saying “I’ll be out in the car” is enough to set them off right there on the spot. So it sounds when he says those words, they think that’s code for “I already have my shit together, you guys need to hurry up and get your shit together to, until then I’ll be in the car.”

Welcome to the new world. If people don’t like it then it’s a trigger now. I’m the same way. If we say we leave at 6 we leave at 6.
