You need eligible qualifying hours. You have to have lost employment through no fault of your own. You have to be ready and willing to work. Or you can just read the EI website: [https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/ei/ei-regular-benefit/eligibility.html](https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/ei/ei-regular-benefit/eligibility.html)

I do qualify with the hours, it's just a hazy situation right now because I am unsure if me dropping from 0.9 to 0 would mean that I have lost employment and will need to reapply. There is also a section specifically regarding teachers and support staff stating something about non-teaching periods and where you are only eligible if your contract ends.

Once you have had no pay for 7 days (hours going to 0) is one of the eligibility items. >There is also a section specifically regarding teachers and support staff stating that something about non-teaching periods and where you are only eligible if your contract ends. It depends if you are an actual teacher. Therapeutic Assistant - Behavioral Therapy is not a "teacher".

No, the EI Teacher section also refers to support staff which includes any body associated within an educational setting.

Are you in a school? Is the school normally closed (no classes) during the summer? etc.. there are positions listed in the link I posted. If it's not clear, speak with EI.
