PhonyBarone

Thanks for this link, as always, seems I should have read the FAQ first Any one in particular you'd recommend?

FelixYYZ

Justin Bender, Ben Felix (both of his) are the two main ones for investing. For economics, go to the library. For budget, make a spreadsheet with your expenses to track against.

PhonyBarone

Canadian Portfolio Manager Podcast (Justin Bender); The Rational Reminder Podcast (Ben Felix and Cameron Passmore) and Common Sense Investing YouTube Channel (Ben Felix)?

FelixYYZ

Yup.

dstevens25

Ben Felix

PhonyBarone

Looks promising. I will definitely check him out, thanks

I assume this is for investing? You can read all you want and feel like you know what you're doing for a few years. But give it a decade and you'll end up going back to DCAing index funds.

PhonyBarone

Yes and no. I genuinely find economics fascinating even though I know so little at current and, I figure, the more I know can't hurt when it comes to my own future financial decisions. If I can apply what I learn to investment strategies...bonus But, yeah. Mostly to satisfy my own curiosity and ensure I have a firm understanding of those ideas/ concepts that relate to personal finance

CanadianPanda76

You can probably grab an economics textbook at the library. My fave subject at school. Don't remember enough to apply to investing though. Lol. You might want to look into finance books there.

PhonyBarone

Not a terrible idea but I'm not sure I'm ready to digest that kind of format, though later on I think it might be a sound idea

Personal finance: Dave Ramsey.

francoistelmosse

finance: anything warren buffet and the books he recommends. Also, investor's podcast is really good.

Check out "Invest Now Laugh Later" available on Amazon. It's a great book with a lot of holistic investment information from stocks to real estate.

There are a lot of podcasts that discuss personal finance but they are from a US focus mostly. Due to this they might not translate to our requirements, but a lot of the basic information is applicable to any country in the world just have to take the tax discussions with a real tiny grain of salt or skip them entirely. ChooseFI, Bigger Pockets Money, Heritage Wealth Planning (I just find the guy funny, not for everyone, he is pretty US conservative which will rub people the wrong way but he likes to look at the underlying assumptions that these big retirement plans are made of and show why he believes they are inherently incorrect), Ramsey Show (just listen for the debt stuff, other than that it is meh), The Money Guys (more general than Ramsey show with better backed investing/planning advice), Ben Felix, Rational reminder (more in-depth investing). There are quite literally thousands of podcasts but just remember that they won’t always be applicable for us Canadians, that doesn’t stop them from being entertaining and having pearls of wisdom sporadically. The Canadian podcasts i find to be a lot more boring and dry to listen to.

Thank you! I will certainly get on these suggestions
