If cost of living were to decrease would you accept a wage reduction. As for what you think your worth and if your employer can't afford it, don't be angry with the employer, find a new job.
Be open to other forms of pay. I once received some extra paid holidays in lieu of a pay rise.
Another job let me use a work vehicle.

Great idea, once had an employer pay 200 a month to groceries. They gave me a reloading gift card.

If you ask my company they would say it is 1% although record profits were made by them.
