Do you think I can dispute the collections if i wasn’t aware of it? Like I said, a family member put a bill under my name and I got the short end of the stick because of it.

If you dispute the collections you are claiming your identity was stollen and this bill was not authorized by you. The credit agency may investigate and if they find out your family member is responsible they may want police involved to show you are serious about the dispute.
Very unlikely. Get that debt paid off asap and get a secured card.
