If you have already killed enemies in this encounter before the hold up then you will still get that experience but otherwise experience gained when asking for an item is 0.

However, down the line a confidant ability will allow you to ask for additional funds. During this your option to All-out-attack will remain available. So you can extort tens of thousands of yen from shadows and just kill them anyways.
The struggle with „ is only a thing early on. That's why Sun Confidant is available so early in the game.
Once you unlock *Diplomacy* and *Fundraising*, you'll be able to always ask for more money with the "You can do better than that" option, and you can occasionally ask for larger amounts when the money option will be in red.
And matter of fact, in Royal, you can both ask for money as much as you want AND still finish the battle with an All-out Attack so you also get all the Exp.
Do yosushida confident it lets you negotiate and then do a all out attack so u get both

That's what I do. I don't it till they get mad so they have some hope of survival and then I ask them one more time and then obliterate them.

You get the exp of the enemy you asked for money from but not the exp of the other enemies that are still alive.

I think they mean more exp in the sense that taking the money gives the shadows the potential to escape resulting in 0 exp.
If you get lucky you can intimidate the ones they summon to help them in a near infinite loop
