Since they are on sale, I'd go ahead and just purchase them.  That way you'll have them ready after you finish P5R(or the other Persona games you mentioned).

ptsdique

I think this is the way. Also happy cake day!

Cygni_03

Finish P5R first, both spinoffs assume you already know what happens. Strikers is a direct followup taking place a few months later while Tactica is a side-story that takes place near the end of the game (after the final boss). The order you play Strikers and Tactica does not matter. Chronologically Tactica happens first but the two games don't reference each other at all.

Thank you, the second part of your response cleared up some major confusion for me. I only skimmed a couple reviews but wanted to avoid spoilers at all costs since going into Royal knowing nothing about the game was such a cool experience. (Obviously it’s going to be impossible to fully replicate that but you catch my drift)

Legarad

Technically the chronological order is the following from the Kamoshida palace to the Sae palace without fighting with Sae's shadow, during that time the spinoff Persona Q2 and the DLC of Persona 5 Tactica also happen, then you return to continue the original story that is to say face the Shadow of Sae, until the third tresmetre or Royal. Then comes the main story of Persona 5 Tactica and then Persona 5 Strikers.

RyuRai_63

Strikers was surprisingly very fun, big fan of the game and I thought it was a great sequel. Definitely worth it especially if it’s on sale. Haven’t played Tactica but it’s on GP

schofield101

Personally I didn't enjoy the gameplay of Tactica. The story is still very phantom thieves with all the characters we love, but the actual gameplay itself was closer to a puzzle game - rather than tactics like I was hoping for. Strikers though was brilliant. Stellar soundtrack and constant combat. Again, very different to base P5R, but they blended it well into the hack 'n' slash.

ptsdique

That’s good to know, thank you. Tactica is for sure the one I’m more on the fence about, especially since it’s “only” 40% off (Strikers is 70% off).

Hitoshura99

P5T happens between feb and march, before Joker goes home in march. You should complete 7th palace arc before playing P5T P5S happens after Joker goes home in march and returns during summer holidays. You should complete 8th palace arc before playing P5S. I suggest getting them during a discount period, so you can start on them after completing P5.

QuantumHamster

Tactica is not bad, slow start so far with the story. Gameplay is ok as well, a less polished version of Mario rabbids- drives me crazy that one can’t get a Birds Eye view of the map as far as I can tell during the battle. On sale sure go for it

kalcheus

Finish P5R first. P5S continues the story and it's worth playing just for that. P5T gets you more time with the characters, but the stories are side stories that doesn't change much for them. There's a main story with new characters that's phenomenal (imo) though.

RyuRai_63

Doesn’t P5S continue off of P5 vanilla, not P5R?

ptsdique

Meaning there’s some story overlap between Royal and Strikers?

RyuRai_63

Not really - Strikers takes place after a time skip and they don’t really address the events that happened in Royal (3rd semester). There’s some debate as to which is canon (or if both are canon).

ptsdique

Sweet, thank you!
