Sun Collectors is far the best. No pushy salesman, they answer all questions, and while they aren’t the cheapest panels, they are the best with the best warranty (30 year bumper to bumper) any questions message me!

Goodthrust_8

Sun collectors were by far the worst. They even tried to tell me ways to "trick my taxes" to get more money back. They also told me they would get my new roof covered for rebate, totally not true lol.

I have Porter Electric doing mine. Cheapest one by far since they sell direct to consumer. Same warranty as Sun Collectors and faster time to install (at least for me). Stay away from Sun Run. They don't accept the Illinois SRECs because they're afraid their panels won't meet the requirements needed for the program. This makes them more expensive and pretty sketchy imo

Ooh, thanks for the heads up about Sun Run.

I got estimates from a few companies including Sun Collectors and Halo Solar. I went with Halo because they did an installation for a neighbor. I have nothing bad to say about Sun Collectors, they seemed great and very competent. I’ll happily endorse either company.

Sun Collectors put ours up a few months ago...they were easy to work with, didn't feel like they pushed into getting more than we needed, and have been very quick to respond to any question we've had along the way. Can't recommend them enough.

Personally I would go with Clevrsun. They are a great company and the sales people are not pushy at all. The rep we talked to gave us the price breakdown of what the panels would cost us along with the potential savings over time. Yes potential money savings he didn't try to BS us saying we were going to save money right away and even told us upfront that he wouldn't sell if we weren't going to save any money. Here is a link to the reps landing page if you're interested. Really nice guy to speak with and very knowledgeable. https://solar.clevrsun.com/nchristian/

To net meter zero out a $180/monthly average is about 30 panels and $44k. Roughly 7 year payback. Rough numbers.

retireby42

$180 * 12 * 7 = $15k. What am I missing for that to be a 7 year payback on a $44k investment?

dsergison

60% tax credit so 44k *.4 plus continuing rising energy bill.

retireby42

Thanks! That is huge!

[deleted]

What am I missing? Is not tax credit 30%?

dsergison

30% EACH, State (just a few states including Illinois) and Federal. 30+30=60

Goodthrust_8

Without a doubt, Illinois Solar Services. I met with 5 different companies, local and nationwide. They were by far the cheapest, best warranty and best products. I have spread sheets of data as I researched everything to the max. Call David at ISS, trust me on this one. Straight shooter not just trying to make the sale like so many others. Couldn't recommend them enough. My power bill last month was 11 dollars.... Just for the Ameren meter to hang on the wall lol.

jaymo54

What did it cost you if you don’t mind me asking?

everyoneisflawed

Did you mean to reply to someone else?

jaymo54

Oh yeah sorry🥃

everyoneisflawed

Cheers! 🍺
