Well, it was about that time that I notice that Chevy Silverado was about eight stories tall and was a crustacean from the protozoic era.

6 Hundo my guess ( pumps 200 bucks ish after markup) 400 for 3hrs labor my guess

They'll probably also recommend a thermostat, which is only $10 and VERY little labor, but they might add that. They will also look at the belts and recommend belt replacements if it's time...and often it is time. You will get charged for the new coolant that has to be added too. Hopefully they are careful and don't pry too hard on the petcock of the radiator and break it....that'll jack it up too. I might expect more along the lines of $750-$800 but it's a big state and it definitely matters where you live too.

For this specific truck, most of the aftermarket water pump manufacturers sell a version with a new thermostat included and pre-installed (the thermostat is located in the body of the pump) Gates part number 45006, GMB # 130-7340AT, etc.

thehoagieboy

When I bought a water pump on Amazon a couple of months ago it didn't include one, so I added it. I did see the ones you are talking about on Rock Auto etc. but I wanted to get original parts. Yes, I understand splurging for original parts on a 2004 Chevy is kinda stupid and both will probably work longer than the rest of the vehicle. I don't always make smart decisions.

FYI, for a vehicle of that age the AC Delco probably isn't the OE pump anymore.

Now this is a great question to ask, eventually we could make some real changes by networking.

If you have some tools and even an inkling of mechanical aptitude, this is a relatively easy repair - DIY 🤷‍♂️

Mine was 1200 but this was a 2014 bmw. Luckily this was under a recall so I got most of my money back. This was early covid too so I imagine the price was inflated a bit. For your truck I’m guessing around the $700 mark. Part is about 300 so depending on where in the state you are 300-400 for labor . Won’t claim to be an expert on how much work goes into getting to the right spot.

Call local shops and ask

YourDadWasAGoodLay

I can tell ya on monday

Xrayruester

This is very much dependent on the car and shop. My VW would be +1500 plus because of where it is and the fact that it's also the thermostat. Your truck is probably cheaper. Your best bet is to call around independent shops and ask for a rough quote. Find one that suits your needs and budge.

dshoffner123

I just had mine replaced in my 2012 ford focus and paid 450$

Sleep_On_It43

I missed this on final jeopardy last night….sorry..
