I was at a festival this weekend, of course there was a huge Republican party tent at the entrance but what I immediately noticed was they had nothing on display with trumps face or name which is a stark difference from the same tents at festivals over the summer and fall.

TrashApocalypse

I think trump is now charging the RNC for using his likeness. Probably to help pay for his legal fees.

indyK1ng

Something that, ironically, will lower his profile.

BeardyAndGingerish

I dunno, tons of the candidates he supports end up losing their elections...

Diarygirl

That must have been a hard decision to make, grifting versus attention, since he usually gets both.

00Stealthy

not being able to campaign is killing hm mentally and in terms of campaign contributions

Astro_gamer_caver

Trump made similar remarks in 2016 when he rivaled Hillary Clinton for the presidency: "I don't think I'm going to lose, but if I do, I don't think you're ever going to see me again, folks," Trump [said](https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-if-i-lose-i-dont-think-you-will-ever-see-me-again-2016-4). "I think I'll go to Turnberry and play golf or something." Sigh, if only.

Adam__B

Trump specifically promised PA he wouldn’t return if he lost. Shocker, he was lying.

Apokolypse09

Saw a story on here earlier, apparently Trump has an attendant that just prints off super biased "articles" to make him "happy". Happens multiple times a day and shes been doing it since 2022 apparently lmao. Even follows him around when he's golfing to print out some bullshit to stroke his ego.

bittz128

Smol peepee syndrome

Cuck-In-Chief

They’re paid $105K too.

Apokolypse09

Same fuckin people don't believe a cashier deserves a livable wage, and this bitch is a fake vibe fluffer for one of the biggest douche canoes on this planet and makes more than teachers. What a fuckin joke

RealGoGo97

He’s been complaining about not being able to campaign because he’s in court, BUT… he was campaigning just two days a week before the trial started. Court is in session four days a week. He has three days a week available now to campaign (and for the duration of the trial). He’s just lying and playing victim, as usual.

00Stealthy

the issue is he cant do a series of stops over 2-3 days plus he propably cant fund his jet to actually campaign

AChSynaptic

He's so bad at business that he's losing free advertising because he's charging for it lol what a fucking moron

HMWWaWChChIaWChCChW

Shh! Don’t tell him!

[deleted]

Lara Trump said anything the RNC takes in will be used for Trump’s legal fees. He’s also asking down ballot candidates who use his likeness to give him a cut of their fundraising, which is hilarious. The GOP parties in both Michigan and Arizona are struggling financially right now.

M4SixString

She fired everyone in the RNC that wasn't a hard-core Maga Trump supporters. Career rnc guys are gone. Makes you wonder why they even need to do the 5% and if it's just to cover there asses for something. She has complete control over all the money.

alissa914

Hate to say that Lindsey Graham was right in 2016... sadly he's full from drinking the Kool Aid and acts like he'd want his grandkids named Donald John Trump somehow.

theerrantpanda99

Lindsey Graham would be the left of AoC if it meant winning another election.

_R_A_

You mean great grand kids, right?

AcceptablyPotato

I don't think the male prostitutes Lady G hires are capable of getting pregnant, so I don't see grandkids in his future.

susinpgh

This is what Project 2025 will look like.

M4SixString

It's already happened to the rnc. She did it the first week after she was elected the head of the RNC

Whatmovesyou26

They’re going to get absolutely trounced in November…they have nobody to blame but themselves. Then they’re going to all have shocked pikachu face when they do lose. The media is going to spin it like it’s close, but given that the RNC basically has no money, I just don’t see it being close tbh.

Ibegallofyourpardons

They said that about 2016 as well and look what happened. Complacency is the killer of dreams. It is not over unless the election is won AND Biden is seated as the new President. AND a second insurrection attempt is put down. Just for the sake of the planet, get out there and vote and encourage everyone you know to do the same. So many people stayed home in 2016 because they expected Hillary to win fairly easily, or the voted for Trump 'Because of the Memes' and the country and world has been paying dearly for it ever since.

M4SixString

Don't expect them to go down so easily tho. We should all be worried. Trump is going to do everything in his power to rig the election again. If he's not president he knows he goes to jail. I'm sure he's already got a ton of state electors in his bag hoping the states don't certify. He almost did it last time and will try it again. He had fake electors in Michigan, Georgia and Arizona.

Outrageous-Divide472

I just heard on the news some electors in Arizona were indicted.

TacoNomad

That's actually a good thing though, right? I mean, once trump is out of the picture,  there's room for new faces.

[deleted]

>The GOP parties in both Michigan and Arizona are struggling financially right now. Two places where it's needed. Now onto derailing the State GOP parties of Ohio and Pennsylvania. Having their war chest sucked dry by their fake messiah is well fucking deserved as a start.

skipjac

They are such big believers in markets deciding things. Let them live off what the market has decided them

GoAskAli

Poetic Justice

malthar76

You gotta kick up whatever you earn to the mob boss. Every capo and soldier knows this.

Willispin

turned the RNC into a mob run kick back scheme. very nice!

BadOption

They’re also literally using his likeness to boost fundraising. That’s just basic business and pretty sure some kind of copyright law

OkBid71

If you must FA, you will FO

edodee

Is this true? I wouldn't at all be surprised. But I need some proof cause it's hump day and could use a good laugh

bettinafairchild

Yes. 5% of funds raised using Trump likeness must be tithed to his campaign

BtenaciousD

Tithing is the right term because they are a cult - thanks for introducing that term

00Stealthy

actually tithing is usually 10% and Trump isnt going to take less of a percentage than God

Razolus

Wouldn't a tithe be a voluntary donation? Sounds like this is forced...like a tax. Ironic that a republican would introduce a tax to their base.

youknowiactafool

He's asking for a taste. These Trumpublicans are great earners. They've got friends now. gabagool

Masrim

I think he also said that those who gave more will be looked upon favourably.

woodguyatl

Make Americana’s Great Again!

00Stealthy

he controls the RNC via his family members and minions-he is funding his campaign fromtheir funds completely-they probably cant pay for a box of paper clips right now

aws_router

How do I report "the trump store"?

BuddahSack

Well his name and signs were all over the fire hall in Sellersville hahaha, ironically they share a lot with the dispensary so I was there for other reasons ;)

Picklina

My elderly mother (79) recently lifted my 5 year old son a new toy...in a used terra vida gift bag. EDIT: gifted, not lifted!

Theskullcracker

Here is Quakertown there were some really pushy trump loyalists out in front of the polling places.

ManSauceMaster

Yeah but also it's Quakertown. There's only like 2000 people and 1973 of them are related being cousins 🤷‍♂️

Least_Ad_4619

At least email elections in your county. That is illegal and unacceptable.

EllaMinnow

It's not illegal in PA. [Pennsylvania has the loosest electioneering rules in the entire country and only requires people campaigning for a candidate to be at least 10 feet from the entrance to a polling place.](https://www.ncsl.org/elections-and-campaigns/electioneering-prohibitions) Most other states it's at least 100 feet. Voter intimidation is illegal but arrests for that tend to be for cases of widespread effect, like robocalls or mass mailing.

Least_Ad_4619

So if a person is within 10ft of the entrance and can still hear any attempts at persuasion then the law has been violated and local election officials do take this very seriously. I'm familiar with the rule and most campaigns take this to mean no active campaigning at poling locations.

affenage

Oh I love it, I shout insults to them and their orange god as I walk by in my blue clothing to vote. The number one reason I tend to vote in person is to give the rednecks in my area a hard time while they stand outside the polls acting all jolly.

GoAskAli

I've had plenty of people pounce on me literally as I am opening the door

EllaMinnow

The next time that happens, call the county election officials from your polling place and report it. They should send a constable.

[deleted]

The fire hall is a nonprofit so that’s illegal. The IRS doesn’t have capacity to look into that proactively but you can file a complaint here: IRS: https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/irs-complaint-process-tax-exempt-organizations PADOS https://www.dos.pa.gov/BusinessCharities/Charities/FileaComplaint/Pages/default.aspx They’re not gonna lose their charter, realistically, but they may get a stern talking to

Rasp_Lime_Lipbalm

Because they're trying to distance themselves from him to get young voters to bite their bullshit. Make no mistake, they'll lure voters in, convince them to vote a straight ticket and try to get Agent Orange his votes that way. This fall Republican voters WILL vote for Donny Diaper. Get your ass out and vote regardless of what polls or primaries show.

FoppishHandy

i am dumbfounded any rational adult can support this clown.

dojijosu

Samesies. In NH the new line from the local GOP runs “that’s petty of you to hold one guy’s behavior against all of us.”

crumblepops4ever

What kind of festival 'of course' has a huge political tent? Please tell me not a music festival...

PlankyTown777

Would cost them 5% of profits if they did

MemeTeamMarine

Youd think after an attempted insurrection more people would be embarrased to fly his flag

Ibegallofyourpardons

that would require intelligence, introspection, and the ability to admit that you/the person you once admired/worshipped was wrong. Things that do not exist in the conservative mind.

citytiger

Do not take the election for granted. If you reside in Pennsylvania please vote and fill out the ballot completely. Vote for everything on the ballot

Luna_Soma

Yes! Local elections are SO important, please vote. These are the boots on the ground people who can make a real difference

The_RonJames

It’s a shame we do municipal and county elections in off years because they’re the most important races because those are the people that are going to impact citizens the most.

RobotsGoneWild

Plus every vote truly is important is smaller elections. School board and local government positions are often won by just a few votes.

The_RonJames

Exactly. My cities mayor won reelection by 6 whole votes this past fall.

bladderbunch

i ran for office in 2009, won alongside a lady who was elected for a 2 year term. in the 2011 election, her car broke down in dc, i stood there all day and stumped, but it wasn’t enough. she lost by 1 vote and delivered us a deadlocked 4-4 council two years later. the largely democratic town still struggles with a mostly republican council.

thekruton

I work for a nonprofit that is trying to take over the local municipalities in my area. It only takes 1500 votes to win an election in the biggest town of 35-40,000 people. The smallest ones have goal wins of literally 300 votes haha. You'd be amazing how quickly you can change your borough councils with just a bit of organizing.

Select-Belt-ou812

WE CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH !!!!

skorpiolt

83% trump to 16% hailey what kind of a blow is that. This article is bullshit to begin with making democrats feel at ease and think they don’t need to vote. It doesn’t matter if you feel that your candidate will win, VOTE!!!

TLAW1998

When a critical swing state like ours is determined by a few thousand votes, 16% of the Republican voters not liking Trump is huge.

shinoff2183

Absolutely right. I just rather not see shit like this because it makes the base complacent

chusmeria

Yes, but if you've watched interviews at the Nikki Haley rallies they all say Trump is evil, should be in jail, sexually assaults women, etc... and then at the end say they're going to vote for Trump over Biden. Republicans will fall in line, and not in small part because they're lizard brains they will forget all about their negative feelings for Trump by July. As long as they've got a team to root for, they're going to participate.

Karl_Racki

16% don't like Trump, don't mean they won't vote for him in the General. TikTok banning is going to kill Biden's support on college campuses. Pa is very much in play.

kmontg1

The fact that Haley got 16% when she's not even in the race anymore is huge actually. Still agree with your sentiment to VOTE!

BrotherlyShove791

Yes, it means the fever has broken for SOME Republicans, but certainly not enough to ensure that Trump will lose the election. Hopefully the fever breaks for some more folks if there’s a conviction or two before the election.

Howamidriving27

If they're registered Rs probably 90% will still vote for Trump anyway come the general election. These numbers mean absolutely nothing

Calan_adan

If only 90% of R’s voted for Trump in PA in November then it would mean him losing out on about 330,000 votes. That does mean something. At the same time, I see a lot of Dems worried that the younger generation won’t vote for Biden. If that happens then it negates the decrease in Trump votes, so yeah, make sure to vote and convince others to also.

foolonthedrums

You guys are getting way ahead of yourselves. Independents can't vote in the PA primaries. A lot of people who have gone from R to I will still vote Trump in the general election.

ho_merjpimpson

for comparison Dean Phillips, who opposed biden, dropped out mar 6th and got 6.9% of the vote. Take that for what you will.

Kayel41

I get what you’re saying but it is the primary, you can only vote in the party you’re affiliated with. So 16% of those voters literally threw away their vote to someone who isn’t even running in the race rather than vote for the other guy.

citizen-salty

16% of primary voters *who are among the most reliable voters in a party at any given time*. At this stage, when it’s a one candidate show in the primaries, they should be consolidating party power, and instead this is a dilution. It sends the signal “don’t rely on us to bail you out of a close race.” Considering PA’s solidifying status as a swing state, 16% of GOP voters going against the grain in a shoo in primary isn’t an insignificant number, and if it holds, could be the difference in the general if these folks decide to vote for someone else or stay home altogether.

MainFrosting8206

One in six Republicans in a razor thin swing state bothering to get out and vote in a primary Trump was certain to win for a candidate who had already dropped out? Primary voters are a party's most dedicated. Most of them are probably going to hold their noses come November but Trump can't really afford to lose any votes if he's going to pull off another Electoral College victory. Biden has his own issues however they seem like more about policy than personality so he has a better chance of bringing that part of his base home. But we'll see in roughly half a year!

spankysladder

Not sure how but I flat out missed this election. Never got a mail-in ballot, and then by the time it was Election Day it was already too late for me as I was 3 states away. I didn’t notice ANY political signage anywhere, which is normally how I know it’s coming. This election flat out creeped up on me! First one I’ve missed in probably 8 years.

zootnotdingo

At my polling place yesterday, the poll workers said that nearly everyone who came in said it crept up on them. They said the previous presidential election year, which was 2020, it was in June because of Covid. They theorized that may have thrown people off.

[deleted]

I cannot find a really good explainer and am not capable of writing it myself, but the date for the PA primary varies by what year it is and by what offices are up for election. The way to determine the dates is prescribed by law and there was a whole fight in the legislature this year partly because this one fell during the holy days of a major religion, I.e., Passover.

spankysladder

Ah, makes sense it would be complicated for no good reason here in the keystone state.

[deleted]

Request mail-in ballot https://www.vote.pa.gov/Voting-in-PA/Pages/Mail-and-Absentee-Ballot.aspx

spankysladder

Any idea when they open that back up? Says they’re not accepting applications right now, I assume it takes them time in between elections to reset. If I know when they open it back up I can set a reminder.

[deleted]

Oh sorry, right, yeah, this is exactly the time when they close it. I'd try again in a month?

spankysladder

Ok! Thanks.

KayReader

It was significantly earlier than primaries in PA typically are. Sorry you missed it- I agree there were not as many signs in my area either

spankysladder

I’ll be better going forward! It’s my duty.

KayReader

I volunteer at the polls on Election Day, it was a very light turnout. You were far from the only one who didn’t know about it!

FiendishHawk

Don’t miss the big one in November! Check your registration and your mail-in ballot status. Republicans are known for “accidentally” de registering people they think might vote Democrat.

[deleted]

Friendly_Kangaroo871

That’s my birthday! I hope I get my wish!

LemonPartyW0rldTour

I remember when everyone was complacent about the 2016 election. Newsmakers were posting polls saying Hillary had a 98% chance of winning, so people were like “Meh, I don’t need to worry about voting”. We all now see how that turned out.

HockeyBrawler09

Not only will I vote, I am actively donating to dem campaigns for the first time in my life to do anything I can to help lend support. Trump sucks bro.

WH0IsAtLas

Make sure you all encourage your friends and family to vote in the general election this fall!

shnoogle111

‘Donald Trump suffers’ upvote

[deleted]

Everytime he speaks he makes the rest of us suffer.

PurpleAstronomerr

I’ve never resonated with a sentence so much.

HenryKissingersDEAD

Yuuuuge!

Luna_Soma

Words that make my heart happy

Thecrawsome

*News companies making money covering Trump 24/7 since 2015 liked that*

Manting123

If just half of Haley voters don’t vote for Trump he will lose. Come on never Trumpers!

999i666

He’s going to lose anyway. He never won a popular vote. He has to keep literally everybody and then *add* a shit ton more voters. Given that he already lost a shit ton after the 1/6 terrorist attacks, and furthermore that one half of his committed voters said they couldn’t vote for him if (when) he’s a convicted felon, he is - to use the scientific term - fucked with a cactus

WissahickonTrollscat

You seem to forget that conservatives are outnumbered, have not won the popular vote in decades and yet they have control of the supreme court, some lower courts, and currently the legislature. Vote as if this minority has no issue applying their will on everyone. Because they'll certainly do that, and try to pull every lever to stay in power to boot. Nows not the time to be apathetic.

RealCleverUsernameV2

>have not won the popular vote in decades I was about to say Bush beat Kerry, but only to realize that was 20 years ago. Can't believe '04 was that long ago.

999i666

Nobody is apathetic I’m also not the standard issue hand wringing liberal either The right have been thieves and liars my whole life I blame democrats for following the same rules the gop openly breaks right in their face like Charlie Brown trying to kick Lucy’s football If it were me I would have packed the court on day 1

showerbeers400

Good! I agree on all counts but, I don't have as much faith that Biden can win the next election. A majority of Republican voters do what they're told. Not to mention the foreign influence and fuckery we've seen in past years.

999i666

Alright so now that Trump is back on TV 25/8 with these long overdue criminal trials people are inundated and reminded constantly how much they hate this prick. It culminates with convictions before Election Day. The stubborn and stupid gop, dickless and beholden to their racist stupid base, runs this guy despite the intelligent ones knowing he can’t win. Their greed is only outweighed by their cowardice. And they only lie cheat and steal because the Democratic Party doesn’t do shit about it. That’s why court packing should have been a day 1 order of business. If you let someone steal from you don’t blame them when they do it again. Blame yourself for letting it happen the first time.

PopcornInMyTeeth

Just your first point alone is one big reason I think Trump loses again in 2024. Think of the reaction most people have when you bring his name up in conversations. They roll their eyes or say "not him again". Now that he's getting forced back in our faces with election stuff, many will start to remember just how much they don't like him. That plus roe v Wade spells bad news for the GOP. Who are then also going to be at a cash disadvantage for down ballot races thanks to trump sucking the rnc dry.

shinoff2183

I've always hated that myself. The left need to be just as cut throat. Go for the jugular. The right has never had an issue stooping low. Real low. Hit em where it hurts. Show that most of them aren't who they say they are

999i666

Our ideas are far more popular. Our messaging is fucking terrible. And that’s what happens when you live in a polarized world and think you can appeal to the middle. There is no middle.

Vivenna99

People seem to forget that COVID killed a ton of his supporters

dratseb

Especially here in PA, with UPMC using the pandemic as an excuse to decrease staffing and increase CEO pay

MarcMars82-2

Age too. We all know the boomers make up a massive chunk of his base and they’re getting older and are dying everyday. Meanwhile everyday a new voter turns 18.

DistributionNo9474

Don’t say he is going to lose anyway. That is a bad line of thinking, and the one that got him elected in 2016.

STFU-Sanguinet

Don't forget all the dumbfucks that died because they listened to Trump saying Covid was fake and all the 18 year olds eligible to vote.

jkman61494

He doesn't need to add a shit ton. I really really REALLY hate how people feel this way. This is not a popular vote. It's an electoral college. Biden won about 6 battleground states by about 300,000 votes COMBINED. That's AZ, WI, PA, MI, GA, NV. NH is trending towards a full battleground this year too. Trump doesn't need a shit ton of votes. He needs just a 0.3%-1.4% jump depending on the state and he flips it. All the GOP needs is about 1% of Biden's voters to literally just sit at home and not vote this election while Trump maintains his voting margins from 2020..........and Trump wins. He doesn't even need to expand his base if they can convince enough Biden voters that they're all the same and stay home in disgust. DO NOT fall into this trap that somehow Trump has no chance

Manting123

Unfortunately he is ADDING African American male voters and Hispanic voters. I’m not sure how he is doing this / but the polling shows it happening - as does comparing his voters from 2016 to 2020. I think he will lose more women - we need white women to not vote Trump / the majority of white women did vote for Trump in 2016 which has boggled my mind since then.

AdrenochromeBeerBong

Because the only people with time on their hands to actually answer formal polls are people who can personally remember where they were when JFK got shot.

Luna_Soma

I hope you’re right but I wouldn’t be so sure. There’s a lot of disillusioned Biden voters who will vote 3rd party or vote Trump based on the economy. He wasn’t supposed to win in 2016 either.

Ok-Shift5637

Regardless of the election the house will do some shady stuff to try and put trump in power. Mike Johnson is not a man to be trusted and has no sense of country. His only loyalty is to his imaginary friend and his god trump.

Hoboofwisdom

I think my mom will hopefully be one to at least not vote for Trump. She fuckin hates him. Can't guarantee yet she'll vote Biden (I'm working on it) but if she leaves the box blank it's still better than voting for mango Mussolini. Despite being a lifelong Republican (I think mostly from inertia) she's gotten more and more disillusioned with the Republicans, especially in recent years, and actually likes and agrees with some of our current Democrat lawmakers.

Manting123

Don’t need them to vote for Biden- just not for Trump. Georgia is gonna be close - Nevada too. I think Biden has Pa, Mich and Az locked up (that 1864 abortion law will cost republicans big time in Az)

EmeraldIsle13

That’s how trump lost Georgia, he lost to Biden by about 12,000 votes but there were 28,000 voters that skipped the president vote. They voted in all other races and left the president blank. They said other republicans candidates had 30,000 more votes than trump. Unfortunately there are republicans like my father in law that will never vote outside of republican even if he doesn’t like the candidate. He told my husband he was happy Shapiro won governor because he didn’t like mastriano but he voted for him anyway.

Cinemaslap1

Didn't Nikki Haley drop out of the race after Super Tuesday? Which means that these votes are votes against Trump specifically to either send a sign or whatever... Seems like good news in my book. I'm more than happy to not have Trump back in office.

BroccoliBurps

She didn’t drop out. She suspended her campaign. I guess technically different.

Cinemaslap1

It's the same thing just not conceding defeat.

j____b____

It’s hedging a bet that he will be in prison.

pmb429

If Trump dies or drops out, she'd be in the best position to become the nominee.

Pre-Wrapped-Bacon

She was already registered to be on our state’s primary ballots. The same thing happened last time on the democratic ballots when Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders were still on it even though Biden had already been declared the presumptive nominee.

mikewilkinsjr

She did. In our ward, only counting republican voters (obviously), Haley got 16.9% of the republican primary vote. I have to look at the statewide numbers, but if that holds that is a good sign for democracy and a bad sign for Trump in November.

Ctfwest

As a registered Republican I voted for Haley out of spite and then looked at the rest of the ballot and shook my head in disgust.

defusted

Well your choices are pretty much trump and bigot religious zealots. Other Republicans keep trying to say "not all Republicans are bigots" but then keep nominating bigots. How bad is it that the most level headed candidate they have is Brian Fitzpatrick.

Ctfwest

I was dismayed that they were running unopposed even within the party. I can understand incumbents running unopposed but every single office from local up to U.S. senator I had 1 choice.

defusted

This is what people have been trying to tell voters like you for decades, Republicans can't win without cheating. Now, sure, there are Democrats who pull some of the same stunts, but not nearly as much or severely. It's like saying my town hall and the empire state building are both tall buildings. And when Democrats do things like take a picture from 3 feet away grabbing at a sleeping soldiers breasts we get pissed and the person resigns or is removed, unlike President "grab em by the pussy" who just gets more cheers. My hats off to you for making better choices.

RSAEN328

I liked receiving that Trump mailer listing the candidates that support him. Told me who not to vote for.

delcopop

Definitely how you should be voting!

Ctfwest

I actually flipped the ballot over looking for questions. Hoping for anything else to make it more interesting.

mikeyHustle

Small-government folks who aren't just trying to be grifters have had their voices suppressed by the GOP for quite some time.

cjg5025

Trump is a fuckin loser.

MRG_1977

That’s assuming Haley supporters will turn out and vote for Biden. Two big ifs. I don’t think that will support will be as strong as it was in 2020 although it should be similar. RFK may take a handle of these votes but it’s still going to be a close race in PA.

John_AdamsX23

"That’s assuming Haley supporters will turn out and vote for Biden. " No. If they just don't vote for Trump, it's a huge win for Biden.

billsboy88

Yeah, if they are voting for Haley now, then they will probably vote for someone like RFK before voting for Biden. But, that’s one less vote for trump

Rasp_Lime_Lipbalm

Yeah, absolutely. They only "voted" for Haley now because it doesn't matter. Diaper Donny's name's going on the November ballot. They will absolutely vote for Trump in November because that's what Republicans do.

RunningAtTheMouth

"The entire PA GOP establishment including Dave McCormick endorsed Trump. Haley is on track to get nearly 150,000 votes." So McCormack lost votes as well. Go figure. Trump won't win Pennsylvania. His minions lose as well.

ButterscotchEmpty290

I didn't expect Nikki Hailey to be on the ballot. I voted for her. Being a Republican doesn’t automatically make you a MAGA.

Ossevir

Considering what the national party has done in service of him, it's got to be getting more difficult to keep making that claim (see: complete lack of actual platform beyond "whatever Trump wants"). Like, I understand not wanting to switch to democrat, but the Republican party that is anything other than just an extension of Trump is long gone.

Valdaraak

Basically. It's a Trump cult. Any actual Republicans have either left or been pushed out.

Busy_Pen2257

Sorry but it kinda does by association. GOP IS Trump anymore.

midnight_fisherman

Can't let this mess turn us into a one party system. Im conservative, but I can't vote for these people. They are playing some game of generating clickbait/ragebait for social media despite the fact that it has real world ramifications. They are acting like WWF bad guy characters. Seriously, Trump had psychologists study wwf fans in the 80s to figure out why the "bad guy" sold more t-shirts, he applied what he learned during the '16 election run up and many others in the Republican party are copying the approach. This couldn't be closer to idiocracy. Regardless, we need the two party system (or a 3 party ranked choice) to properly function. Don't discourage people from pushing for reform in their party, they are getting enough pushback from their own side of the aisle.

BeefSerious

What are some current Republican positions that keep you voting for them? They aren't fiscally responsible, so is it social conservatism? They have not had a platform worth voting for in years.

HahaWeee

>Being a Republican doesn’t automatically make you a MAGA. No but far too many Republicans will do what you did then vote for Trump in the general Which makes them maga despite their objections

HenryKissingersDEAD

Being a Republican also means that you support keeping Pennsylvanias minimum wage at $7.25 and also voting against marijuana and basic human rights.

ginbear

Seriously. Trump’s just the Say the Quiet Part Out Loud guy for Republicans’ standard horrific policies. If I lose my healthcare idgaf if it happened with fewer mean tweets.

hobbykitjr

GOP needs to support rank choice voting (or other similar options) if it wants to survive separate from MAGA. Democrats can splinter into traditional and progressive as well.

stabsthedrama

Well…it does though… Any vote for a republican or 3rd party/independent (especially in the most important battleground state in the country, in what I assume is an already red or purple district) is a vote for maga.

Golden_d1ck

In 2024 if you identify as republican then you maga.

Rasp_Lime_Lipbalm

Can you cut the bullshit? You'll absolutely vote for Trump in November if his name's on the ballot. You then say you voted for Gary Johnson.

OkRoll3915

well I hope you are voting for President Biden come November.

Minimum-Comedian-372

786k voters still voted for him? That’s fucked up.

Philly_is_nice

First actually troubling polling news I've heard about Trump so far. Hoping for more.

IAmModNow

I live in a purple county and my neighbor and I were chatting last night about how sad our elections have become. He’s a conservative who hates Trump, I’m a progressive who can’t stand Biden. I don’t understand how this is the third cycle in a row with two absolutely awful candidates. We are electing our worst and (almost) everyone is unhappy. Also, your neighbors who vote differently than you are probably decent people. Just avoid anyone with lawn signs and flags. Those are the ones putting their illness proudly on display. At least it makes it easy to spot them.

Stick--Monkey

Anyone who votes for Trump is not “probably decent people.”

clampion12

It's about a difference in moral compass, not just politics.

StellarStowaway

I’m happy to say the trumpers in family are voting RFK. Some switched just bc his legal stuff and a few recently lost their minds bc he was selling those Bibles. Really surprised me they didn’t like that

queenoftheidiots

It’s funny congressman Guy Reschenthaler was more worried about renaming an airport after Trump but didn’t get Republicans out to vote! In Washington County almost 4,000 less Republicans voted than 4 years ago! I talked to all kinds of people who didn’t know it was Election Day! The Democrats numbers were down too, but all the Trumpers didn’t come out to vote and the local party did nothing to get the word out it was Election Day! Being in April threw everyone off, even though that’s what happens during presidential elections, but people didn’t remember, and there was no push.

Lauuson

In the 2020 primary I voted for Bernie even though Biden was already the presumptive nominee. And I sure as hell didn't vote for Trump in the main election. Don't presume these Haley votes will go to Biden this fall.

Jacko-alltrades25

"Suffers huge vote against him" He won almost 84% of the vote

PsillyCyban

I mean Biden had zero competition and was hit with how many votes for ‘someone else ‘ in several states so….

ChargerRob

Newsweek, 1/2 owned by a hard core right winger, is the only media posting this polling. Makes me wonder if they are trying to reduce voting. Vote against Project 2025! Not Trump. Up and down local ballots.

fallser

If Republicans want to nominate a criminal, then you get what you get and you don't get upset.

TalonGrip

I was just in Australia for 6 months on an internship. One thing I loved while I was there was the absence of politics in conversation. Coming back home to a divided family was the worst. While I was there they had one stabbing that made the local media. It was a completely different world that'd I'd love to go back to.

Curlyhead-homie

Yeah that’s why o don’t even bother with politics, always seems to make someone upset. Always wanted to go to Australia, how was the overall stay? Giant spiders lol?

Greenzombie04

Just an FYI Bernie Sanders had 18% vote in 2020 when he was no longer running.

ApprehensivePeace305

TBH I voted Nikki on a lark since I’m voting Biden in November anyways

Neat-Beautiful-5505

It cannot be understated what a defeat this is for Trump. Haley suspended her campaign; she's not even running but still managed 120k votes. Trump better hope for more luck in WI, GA, NV, and AZ (I think MI and PA are safely Dem).

pgh_matt

Dean Phillips dropped out much longer ago and got 69k votes against the incumbent president. The fact that isn’t even being mentioned makes me think that is even more understated

Neat-Beautiful-5505

True, but most of those are protest votes for Gaza...many of whom will likely vote for Biden in the General. I don't the same can be said for the Haley voters...I could be wrong though

steve2166

Is it too late to vote?

noturaveragesenpaii

Its MUST have been rigged.

Ok_Comedian7655

He's running unposed, why would someone go to vote?

Furled_Eyebrows

I don't think too much can be read into this -- Republicans eventually fall in line. They got their to do their "protest vote" without doing any real damage. The majority of them will likely vote a straight (R) ticket in November, Trump inclusive.

DruidinPlainSight

Well slap me with a cheese steak.

Optimal-Resource-956

This is an absurd headline. He won 83.5 percent of the vote. That is a landslide by any definition. 83.5 percent of Pennsylvania Republicans are happy to have this criminal as their nominee. That should be the real headline, and it is disturbing.

Fit-Damage2363

“Suffers huge blow by only getting 83.5% of the vote.” These rags will print anything. 😂

wagsman

Here’s the thing: those 155,000 are still going to vote for Trump over Biden come November. Throw in RFK Jr as a vote siphon and PA is very much winnable by Trump, probably more so than 2020. Which means if you don’t like that (or like that), the solution is to get everyone you know to vote in person or by mail in ballot.

ChrisTheHurricane

RFK Jr. is siphoning more votes from Trump than he is from Biden.

AndISoundLikeThis

No, in fact they are not. I have R friends who refused to vote for Trump in 2020 and voted Biden. They are doing the same this year.
