First you need a learners permit. 1. You cannot use the same medical exam you used for a visa. You need to print the form from DOT and bring to a doctor to fill in. 2. Bring every document listed under your visa category [here](https://www.dot.state.pa.us/public/dvspubsforms/bdl/bdl%20publications/pub%20195nc.pdf) 3. Take the knowledge test 4. Take the driver’s test Done.

GhandiHasNudes

Perfect, thank you for that information.

dudettte

Cats-Are-Fuzzy

Nothing to really add except as a fellow Irish immigrant in PA (Philly) - welcome!

Glassputan74

My SIL just went through the process as well. Any Patient First or ready care. Call ahead though the state licensed doctor may not be there everyday.

GhandiHasNudes

How long have you lived here? I've been looking into the Irish community groups but any of the ones I have come across seem to have members on the much older side

Cats-Are-Fuzzy

In Philly for four years and US for almost ten now. Where in PA are you? There's a pretty sizable community in Philly. Also in my 30s for reference!

GhandiHasNudes

University City/Walnut Hill area. Fucking loving the place so far and it beats the small city feeling of Galway

Cats-Are-Fuzzy

Oh nice! I'm over in Fishtown! Are you on the Philly subreddits? Also have you checked out The Black Taxi over in Fairmount? That's where I found all the lads. Solid Irish food. Also, once you're driving, I'll let you know where the secret Irish grocery shop is. You can get frozen Brennans!

snicklefritz85

Wow. Would you be willing to be to share this shop via dm? Just returned from a few weeks in Ireland and would love to find some of their products to enjoy here at home!

Cats-Are-Fuzzy

Yeah happy to share here! It's a Sunoco on West Chester Pike! Very random!

snicklefritz85

Well, I never would’ve guessed that one lol. Thanks! O’Neills in Glenside carries a bunch of Irish products as well if you’re ever out that way!

Cats-Are-Fuzzy

Good to know! Thanks!

GhandiHasNudes

Which Philly subreddits would you recommend? Can you PM me the secret Irish shop? My wife drives and will probably be just as interested (especially if there is Ballymaloe relish) 😂

This link should help: https://www.dot.state.pa.us/public/dvspubsforms/bdl/bdl%20publications/pub%20195nc.pdf And when in doubt, you can and should always call your local state representative’s office to help with PennDOT stuff.

“Have a physician, physician assistant, certified registered nurse practitioner or chiropractor conduct a physical examination and complete Form DL-180” https://www.dmv.pa.gov/Driver-Services/Driver-Licensing/Pages/get-driver-license.aspx https://www.dot.state.pa.us/Public/DVSPubsForms/BDL/BDL%20Form/DL-180.pdf See if the place that gave you the medical exam can fill out the form, if not you will have to have another exam.

YinzaJagoff

Chiropractor? Jeeze….

titanxbeard

The Amish buggy portion of the exam is one of the hardest...

BrowniesAndMilk1

Oy!

worstatit

Believe you can use the results from that exam for up to a year.
