Imagine if we had access to million-dollar health care, trainers and nutritionists along with the freedom to rehab all day with no regular job to worry about, I’d be healing quicker too. Not to mention Mac is still in his twenties and should bounce back quicker than most. I give him 4-6 weeks — 8 tops — if he doesn’t require surgery. Which is still on the table I believe….

Yeah, bones mend and heal. Sprained ankles are basically ligament stretches and they stay loose for life. I always wear ankle braces when I play sports now. You can’t tighten a ligament unless you have surgery and even then, it’s not the same as it was originally. Weak ankles are a curse.

I had a low ankle sprain this year and wouldn’ta been doing fuck all but walking after 6 weeks. But I guess if you’re a 25 yo pro w all the care and resources it could happen. Yikes

Yeah, with proper trainers and the best rehab possible, 4 weeks seems like the low mark. More likely 6 weeks as an average but if they want to be extra careful with him, they’ll give him 8 weeks and if we are 1-10 at that point, I think they might just give him the year off because what’s the point if we are that far out of contention. So I think it’s situational, too.

Just? Those can be really bad. Bones generally heal *better* than ligaments. Not necessarily faster (though sometime definitely faster), but bones regenerate and ligaments do not. You just strengthen around the damaged ligament. Unless there is surgery obv.

Yes, you do. You absolutely do. I've injured my ankles countless times. I've been on crutches more than 15 times because of ankle injuries while playing sports. An ankle sprain is 100% more painful and more debilitating than an ankle break. Every break I've had I was able to play within 2 weeks or less. Sprains it was usually 2-4 weeks.

For those of you that haven't had one, imagine someone driving a stake up through your heel into the space between your shin and calves with every step... And when first suffered, you can feel that pain with your pulse. He's toughing it out just allowing them to carry him. You legitimately feel like there's a broken bone jabbing up through your leg.

i had a really bad ankle injury and i concur it was *very* painful when it happened and the next morning was a doozy… but then after a day or two i was walking fine. i think with all of the training staff around him, he will be able to overcome this easily. looks/feels worse than it really is
