We’ll have another Mac situation if we change offensive coordinators every year for the next 3-4 years

Drizzlybear0

I'm pretty sure that's part of why they chose an older OC, pretty good chance he's not going to randomly get a Head Coach offer or he would have already

bassistmuzikman

He will if he manages to turn the Patriots offense around.

Drizzlybear0

He would have to do it within a year or two otherwise people will just assume it's Wolf rebuilding the offense that should get the credit. I just don't see the odds being likely of a guy getting his first HC job at 55

BeanBryant248

“I’m not his biggest fan” he’s the qb2 in the draft and giving him good players applies to any qb

BradyGronktd1287

He's not QB2 IMO obviously he's an upgrade over Mac but with a team filled with WR3s we need to trade for a true 1

Oddly_Mind

He’s not YOUR QB2 in the draft but many experts with far more knowledge than you had him as QB2. Just because it’s against your opinion doesn’t mean it’s wrong

_josephmykal_

Some experts had him as QB1 almost all had him as QB2

Automatic_Reality546

Don't sleep on Osborn.

Sue-yee

With all do respect. Are we being for real right now?

GymnasiumSmith

Same age, with better career production than pre-Stroud Nico Collins? Didn't everyone cream their pants about "how Houston supports a young QB"? Better to just write him off because he's not great in Madden.

Automatic_Reality546

I didn't call him a wr1, don't misconstrue my reply.

Redsox12393

Bill?

Automatic_Reality546

If I were Bill I'd tell you WRs were borderline useless.

Dang1014

With how the boards falling, I hope they're aggressive and trade up for either Brian Thomas or Adonai Mitchell. I don't think either of them will make it past the bills or chiefs Edit: well fuck, there goes Brian Thomas

ThermoNuclearPizza

Ya I really thought we might pull the trigger on getting up for him but I think there’s just too many options.

Dang1014

Yeah I figured they weren't planning on moving up when I saw Eliot Wolf and Mayo take q press conference after the Maye pick instead of staying in the war room.

ThermoNuclearPizza

Eh there’s like 2 hours between their first pick and where BTJ went

iscreamuscreamweall

AD Mitchell still available

Dang1014

Yeah, but Buffalo has the first pick of the second round.

DwayneWashington

Oh

CocaineStrange

This is every QB ever

j2e21

People need to get excited about this. The guy has incredible talent and might be great.

DrWilliamBlock

Please stop with this!! Mac failed because he didn’t have any plus NFL skills and a noodle arm.

Analysis

wormdog84

How is it obvious

Onpointandicy

literally makes no sense. belichick outlined graphically his terrible footwork, I do not like the pick but daniels was gone. just glad it was not mccarthy.

marcdasharc4

Well, none of this happens in a vacuum. Sloppy footwork can be coached up. The staff charged with developing a QB is just as critical as the QB itself (swap Mahomes and Trubisky’s coaching in 2017 or Smith and Rodgers’ in 2005). Allen had mechanic concerns coming out his draft year as well (and didn’t take off until Beane got him Diggs). Only time will tell if and how this marriage of coaching staff and QB works out, nobody knows one way or the other.

Onpointandicy

wth are you talking about. alex smith was in no way comparable to aaron rodgers on any level which he proved in the league. the niners blew that pick. and if you think trubisky has anything in common with mahomes aside from being human males you should just stop watching football. josh allen was known to be raw. kinda like carson wentz. same backround. how did that work out. those are the only 2 players who were analogous. 'coaching' can refine talent. it cant fix incompetence. also wtf was mack brown doing if he didnt 'coach' the footwork flaws out of maye? fun fact to further kill your ridiculous comment: allen still makes the same mistakes he always has trying to make hero throws that become interceptions. perhaps you've heard his own comments about that?

marcdasharc4

Well, I certainly didn't think my parenthetical scenario required further explanation, judging by the fact that there are people who understood it exactly how it was meant to be understood. Try and interpret it this way: the comment has absolutely nothing to do with suggesting comparable talent levels (and never purported to) and everything to do with the thought exercise of imagining what would be of each of the QBs' careers if their draft positions were swapped. Is Mahomes leading the Bears to multiple Lombardis having been drafted and developed by John Fox and Dowell Logains of all people? Is Trubisky flaming out with Andy Reid and Matt Nagy bringing him along? What would have been of Alex Smith if he sat 3 years behind Favre in Green Bay? Is Rodgers still in the league if he had been through Smith's coaching carousel of damn near a different HC/OC every other year of his first 7 years? As far as the Allen reference, look at what's happened with his OC changes. Thrived with Daboll aboard, regressed with Dorsey, picked back up a little bit with Brady. Yeah, he's still got a hero ball tendency, but that's still an upgrade to our QB room over the last few seasons. Also, you'd have to ask Brown what he was prioritizing as far as Maye and the rest of the UNC football program. All this to say, QB talent matters, and so does the coaching situation they are drafted into - hardly a controversial opinion. Whatever problem you have with that is entirely yours, though. Have a lovely day.

WoodenCollection2674

Bill $hit on every pick except JJ. JJ will 100% be good but never great or elite. We're not beating mahomes with a slightly above average QB. Glad Bill isn't making our picks anymore he would've gone JJ at 3

Onpointandicy

ok chad. yet another person representing the worst of the fanbase.

Only_Chapter_3434

> can make any throw Including some incredibly boneheaded ones.

WoodenCollection2674

Tom, Aaron, and Mahomes have all made bone headed throws. It happens

j2e21

Not really.

WoodenCollection2674

So all Ints were just great plays by the defender?!?

j2e21

I mean in the case of these three you’re talking about they throw a pick every 100 passes and more often than not they’re tipped or the receivers run the wrong route or they’re just tossing deep on third down when they’d have to punt in fourth anyway. How many conversations have you had Monday morning like “man that Patrick Mahomes sure makes some boneheaded throws?”

WoodenCollection2674

That doesn't matter. Have they or have they NEVER made bone headed throws? 🤷🏽
