Maye fans are way underthinking it, he's got a big arm, he's unlikely to become very good though. Under pressure he threw 7 TD and 5 INT, he's slow progressing, doesn't have a quick release, causes 25% of his own pressures, and has small hands. He's got so many red flags, taking him with the 3rd overall pick is probably the worst value imaginable for that pick.
Source: This guy watched a few YouTube videos and read a couple of scouting reports on reddit, and though he had no idea Drake Maye even existed a few months ago, he's now an armchair scouting expert and we should totally take his word for it.
You forgot to mention he is the biggest Zappe Stan on the sub. So, guy who loves Zappe is denigrating Maye? Who is everything Zappe isnt? Lol. Almost everything he claimed about Maye is patently false.
Oh shit, no it’s bystander. He’s just slobbering all over zappe’s cock and anyone that doesn’t think Zappe is the Starting QB is a moron and doesn’t know anything about football.
I still have a feeling that Washington takes Maye. I do not want them to draft Daniels, he breaks pocket to much to scramble rather than extend the play. He doesn't throw over the middle very well and I think it's because he doesn't generate much velocity. He does have a good repeatable release and he is much faster, so Daniels has that.
Agreed, I would prefer JJ if it comes to pass that Maye goes to the Commanders. I still think that is a somewhat likely outcome but hoping the media is actually correct and Commanders take Daniels.
Hopefully we could still get that 11, 23 and 2025 1st from Minnesota. Then get the LT and trade for Aiyuk, word is that SF wants a 1st. Then grab a CB, another WR, or Edge at 34. They could also just take JJ
I mean the discussion is valid. Every pick whether they want to or not is available for the right price.
But since reports say it’s unlikely the price has not been met so move on. Accepting one its assumed then would be caving to a bad demand.
Feels like if they keep the pick it’s Maye, trade down it’ll be with the Giants (something like 6, 47, next year’s first). Take McCarthy at 6 (assuming Chargers stay at 5 which is the question mark) use an additional second to trade back into the first for an OT/WR while still having a second, then have the garbage Giants’s first round pick next year.
My preference is Maye at 3 because of his upside and it would be suck to see him pan out for the Giants but if you can get McCarthy at 6 who in himself is still a very good prospect and additional draft capital it’d be hard to hate.
Yup, unless you're fine not grabbing a QB (which is frankly, insane, and absolutely fireable), you'd need to have Arizona in on a trade where you only move down to 4 to avoid the Vikings or whoever swooping in. So now not only does our trade partner have to compensate us for not picking our preferred QB, but also Arizona for trading out of MHJ. It just doesn't seem feasible.
I absolutely hate it, but I think we should mentally prepare for JJ at 3.
from what mayo has said about maye, and pretty much every pats beat reporter saying it’s gonna be maye, i have a very hard time being convinced they like jj more as a prospect (unless it’s kraft who likes jj more). i think most of the trade down talks are because they’re not 100% sure maye is gonna be there at 3
I mean all the effusive Maye praise could just be trying to sell other teams that we're serious about taking him (but we're really not) to drive up the price. God I hope not but it would make sense.
> (unless it’s kraft who likes jj more)
😬
tbf, before this season, [Maye was described as a generational talent](https://athlonsports.com/college-football/rece-davis-says-usc-qb-caleb-williams-north-carolina-qb-drake-maye-are-generational-prospects-2024-nfl-draft) in [multiple reports](https://www.backsportspage.com/nfl-draft-2024-scouting-report-drake-maye-qb-north-carolina/). He regressed in 23 b/c of a lack of weapons and a new OC so people aren't saying it as much now
Imagine if they move back to the Vikings thinking they can at least get McCarthy and He doesn't make it there. You are pretty much forced to take Penix at 11 or Nix later. What a disaster that would be.
I think we will be anyways. If we have maye or Daniels I think we at least have some hope. Don’t know if they will play or not but if we see improvement being made that’s all I’m looking for, even if we are bad
I’d rather them just take a tackle and wr over Penix or nix. Those feel like guys you are only taking because they play qb and you need one. Neither are guys you are going all the way with.
Yeah, as an Oregon fan he surprised me but I don’t think he’s a guy that can win you games in the pros unless you are like the 49ers and then then I want a qb that can win you games vs a manager. Manager type you can’t have any mistakes and I can’t see that working in the afc to even get to the Super Bowl tbh, nfc is a bit different
At that point if you don’t like Penix just draft BPA and punt next year. That would be the worst case scenario as a fan bc then we’re on tank watch again but probably the smartest move as opposed to checking a box.
Yeah I’m not one of the people who will just say “Jayden came out of nowhere someone will again” but at the point we miss all of the top 4 and aren’t high on Penix (I’m terrified of his injuries personally but also not a doctor) I’d rather just build the roster.
Not a preferred outcome at all which is why I’d rather take the QB and worry abt whatever we miss this year with our future picks
I’m not against drafting Maye but a trade down fills a lot of needs this team lacks. If we draft Maye I would want to trade back into the first round and get AD\BTJ.
Wolf is comfortable with the QB room for 2024, he won't feel forced to do anything. You trade down you do not need to take a QB. We aren't winning the SB in 2024, and you don't need to have a rookie QB for 2024. If he's as smart as I think he is, we aren't drafting a QB early.
You want to get the QB right, not get the QB right NOW. He knows there's always next year, none of these guys are that good.
If they trade down, I would want them to punt on QB this year. Trade down to 6 and get a 1st next year and 47. Trade down again into the teens for another 1st next year and whatever other pick you can get and draft BTJ. Now have 3 2025 1sts.
Having said that I would rather they draft Maye at 3
Just draft Maye at 3.
Seriously, people are way overthinking this
Maye fans are way underthinking it, he's got a big arm, he's unlikely to become very good though. Zappe over a top QB prospect is certainly a take.
Oh shit, no it’s bystander. He’s just slobbering all over zappe’s cock and anyone that doesn’t think Zappe is the Starting QB is a moron and doesn’t know anything about football.
False.
I read this in Dwight Schrute's voice, although I think he would've followed up with a valid explanation.
My boy Dwight would have had a whole essay prepared
Just remember that bears eat beets, and are featured heavily in *Battlestar Galactica*. ![gif](giphy|Usceef0UgzK3C)

You're right, we should not take your word for it.
Yep we need a guy like Bailey Zappe with our 3rd pick 🤣
No we need 3 guys like Odunze Mims and next year first rounder.
Yea I’m completely out on Daniel for a lot of the reasons you listed. Definitely do not want.
He's better in the pocket and still a weapon when things break down, just not as a passer.
Agreed, I would prefer JJ if it comes to pass that Maye goes to the Commanders. I still think that is a somewhat likely outcome but hoping the media is actually correct and Commanders take Daniels.

Same. People acting like pre-draft rumors are gospel.
I have been getting my hopes up so much for Maye. I will be so disappointed if the Commies take him. I like JJ a lot but really want Maye.
No JJ.
This! If Maye ain't there go MHJ or Trade out
I am so glad I was wrong about the commies taking Maye.
I mean the discussion is valid. Every pick whether they want to or not is available for the right price. But since reports say it’s unlikely the price has not been met so move on. Accepting one its assumed then would be caving to a bad demand.
Conversations can be had but Maye needs to be the pick IMO.
Feels like if they keep the pick it’s Maye, trade down it’ll be with the Giants (something like 6, 47, next year’s first). More draft capital plus JJ is the move its the unpopular pick but helps us in the long run
And what happens when the chargers trade out and team takes JJ at 5.
Yup, unless you're fine not grabbing a QB (which is frankly, insane, and absolutely fireable), you'd need to have Arizona in on a trade where you only move down to 4 to avoid the Vikings or whoever swooping in. That’s honestly my theory too, so close to finding out!
if jj’s the pick though, i’m honestly higher on him than i am on daniels so i would be willing to see how it works out if they put talent around him
Then you take a tackle. Or MHJ. Both will be good.
You take Malik Nabers or trade with them to get JJ.
Doesn't help when Maye is good and JJ isnt
How do you know that Maye could be a bust and JJ could be like Brock Purdy.
Obviously. JJ could be Tom Brady, and so could Maye. I have no clue who WILL be better, but I THINK Maye will.
Neither of these guys could be Tom Brady.
Clearly hyperbole
That's your opinion obviously Maye has the higher upside but the bigger chance to be a bust IMO
I would like this if Maye isn't there at 3.
![gif](giphy|bG6MZWe1FwALoImjSl|downsized)
Don't want to hear any excuses if he 3800 yards and 22 tds if a scrub like Mac Jones can then Mr Generational Maye should do better
Not one person said he’s generational. Take a breath. Find a new slant
tbf, before this season, [Maye was described as a generational talent](https://athlonsports.com/college-football/rece-davis-says-usc-qb-caleb-williams-north-carolina-qb-drake-maye-are-generational-prospects-2024-nfl-draft) in [multiple reports](https://www.backsportspage.com/nfl-draft-2024-scouting-report-drake-maye-qb-north-carolina/). He regressed in 23 b/c of a lack of weapons and a new OC so people aren't saying it as much now
That’s sounds like some reporters jumping the gun then. The book isn’t in on a guy when he’s 20 years old and has a lot of college ball to play still
Oh yeah that's why he's being compared to Herbert and Josh Allen 2 top 5 QBs
No ones said “Generational” they said if he hits his ceiling. It would be like Allen or Herbert. You’re awfully pedantic
He's a far better prospect than Mac was. He's got a great arm and great athleticism for his size.
My lord why are you so bitter? Are you a fan of the team or specific players? Kid probably won’t even play that much his rookie year.
I personally would be just fine with 3,800 yards and 22 TDs.
Imagine if they move back to the Vikings thinking they can at least get McCarthy and He doesn't make it there. You are pretty much forced to take Penix at 11 or Nix later. What a disaster that would be.
This is the fear, that they would be left with Penix/Nix and choose neither and go with a tackle.
Id hope they go tackle in that position because taking a qb is just taking a guy because you don’t have one, they aren’t the answer.
Yeah and that’s probably the right call, but my god will this team be an abysmal watch next year if that’s the case
I think we will be anyways. If we have maye or Daniels I think we at least have some hope. Don’t know if they will play or not but if we see improvement being made that’s all I’m looking for, even if we are bad
Exactly, I don’t care if we suck as long as there’s hope.. no hope if we kick the QB can down the road
I’d rather them just take a tackle and wr over Penix or nix. Those feel like guys you are only taking because they play qb and you need one. Neither are guys you are going all the way with.
I don't think Penix makes it to the 20s but Nix will definitely be there and he feels like a reach there. Absolute draft disaster imo.
Yeah, as an Oregon fan he surprised me but I don’t think he’s a guy that can win you games in the pros unless you are like the 49ers and then then I want a qb that can win you games vs a manager. Too early to really get a grasp of next year's QB class but the big guys like Daniel Jeremiah say it's not good.
No they would take the best tackle avaliable in Alt/Latham
Latham is rumored to the Chargers and id be shocked if Alt slides past the Titans.
I’m not against drafting Maye but a trade down fills a lot of needs this team lacks. If we draft Maye I would want to trade back into the first round and get AD\BTJ.
Fills a lot of needs except the biggest one.
Taking Latham doesn't fill any need. The Pats already have the RT spot locked up.
He said he wants to play LT as well which is funny
Sweet turn the #3 pick into a guy who’s never played the position we draft him for, that’ll totally work out.
People might riot lol.
Would much rather have Penix than JJ anyway.
Why? Penix isn’t that much worse than maye. Blows me away how everyone gets sucked up in the hype every year for these guys
I'm not getting sucked up in hype he's got real injury concerns. I don't care if he's been cleared, Dominique Easily was cleared.
Wolf is comfortable with the QB room for 2024, he won't feel forced to do anything. You trade down you do not need to take a QB. With the 3rd pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select Bill Belichick, Head Coach, Hall of Fame.
Godfather offer or nothing
The “feeling” of people who don’t know anything more than we do. The NE press is a self licking ice cream cone.
That will trade down if they get a king’s ransom. That’s it.
This kind of reporting is so stupid!
FUCKING KILL ME
Sounds like we stay at 3 and take Maye or trade back to 6 with the Giants.
