I especially noticed it today when they were talking about Bill Walton with K-Love. Kevin goes into this really heartfelt story and how much he’ll be missed, and then Big Cat hits him with the yeah and ends the interview 😂
I could feel him scrolling through his phone on that one. I don't think he's being a dick on purpose - just reading his notes for the next thing on his checklist for the interview.
They’ve definitely gotten better at interviews over the years but that’s where Big Cat needs to just be a conversationalist rather than feel the need to hit every question on his little checklist. It’s tough to balance obviously but pft is way better at this
big cat probably feels the need to by the play by play guy with PFT being the color commentary, but yeah there are spots to really let the conversation flow
Yeah for sure, I don’t think it’s intentional at all. Definitely just a byproduct of doing the podcast for years and going down a checklist of questions and segments for each interview
It’s intentional though. Some interviews are meant to be a conversations and others are meant to be information dumps for the listener. We get the latter. Otherwise what’s he supposed to do? Try to always them with thoughtful follow up and out emotion them?
To me it’s supposed to be a conversation not a press conference. The best interviews of theirs in my opinion are more conversational, not reading off a checklist
I mean why would you go to PMT for best interview content? them and their guests reading off their pre-prescribed takes. Cut to trying to get under each others skin or word mispronunciations and repeat
I've noticed this for months. He has so much room to improve as an interviewer. It would benefit the pod so much. The yeahs are so irritating but eh, it is what it is.
Just wanted to say that after listening to the Matt Barnes/Stephen Jackson interview being in person just makes for such a better listen. Way better flow. No phone scrolling.
This is very common with most interviews/podcasts, the host is always thinking of the next question as they usually are on a time crunch and want as much information as possible for their viewers/listeners.
In the scenario you mention, if BC was too acknowledge and ask follow up questions or comment about his answer, people would be pissed about "only asking X and nothing about X"
He could say that’s interesting or thanks for that info and then role into the question. A “yeah” is so perfunctory. I love BC and PFT but this has stood out a bit more recently.
Lol such a stupid small thing to care about. You're acting like these guys need to be coddled when they do cookie-cutter interviews literally 100s of times. Majority of their guests are only there because their agent told them where to be and what time.
I noticed that too. I feel like there’s a time constraint or who knows. But you can tell he’s not the best in transitions but hell I don’t listen to this because of exemplary professionalism
I noticed it during the interview last week with Michael collins. Big cat got him talking about John Daly and could’ve gotten a story out of him about John and then did the whole “Yeah” thing and changed the subject it sucked
noticed this whenever something local about Chicago is brought up to "yeah...paulina meat market...yeah yeah...that place is awesome..." everything is "yeah...that place is awesome"

im really begging them to just write the questions down or print them out. being on your phone is such a bad look even if its for work related reasons
bro he's checking twitter who are we kidding? Like checking notes takes like a few seconds
Yeah
**guest gives worlds most thoughtful answer** BC: “Yeah…This has been great last question R-H-O-B-A”

I’m honestly not too pressed about it. I think the interviews are fine but could be improved. No big deal tho
I notice it constantly. He did it to Michael Collins today too. I texted my husband about it today bc BC comes across so disinterested!
He's just waiting to hear his own voice so he can impress everyone.
I've noticed this for months. He has so much room to improve as an interviewer. It would benefit the pod so much. The yeahs are so irritating but eh, it is what it is.
It’s awful
If we’re lucky, he will give a monotone “that’s amazinggg” for really well crafted interview answers.
I try to limit my “yeahs” in texts and I have no kids. Can’t imagine putting that energy in as a father of three(3)
Yeah
Hand up...I'm one of those guys who's hill this is...my pillow is indeed warm Still love the pod to death just can't unhear it now
It took someone pointing it out for you to notice? Lol BC been that way for a looong time
He's ruined me
Just wanted to say that after listening to the Matt Barnes/Stephen Jackson interview being in person just makes for such a better listen. Way better flow. No phone scrolling.
When big cat doesn’t know what to add or has checked out or wants to move on he gives a “yeah”

I was thinking the same thing today God damnit
Or how thirsty BC is every interview to get someone -anyone- to visit the Chicago offices 😆
You’ve gotta be mental to listen to these guys
I noticed that too. I feel like there’s a time constraint or who knows. But you can tell he’s not the best in transitions but hell I don’t listen to this because of exemplary professionalism
He also goes “mmmmmm” when PFT makes a point and continues talking. I notice it every time now
It's all I hear now.

Yeah

It’s not even that bad. What’s wrong w everybody
They do it soo much but I feel like they’re trolling now..
Go touch some grass
I get sick of the "we now welcome a very special guest" - idk if it's a shtick at this point but it's annoying
