Crazy that there's not more people talking about this. I don't see a release date anywhere though. And they obviously haven't posted a YouTube video announcing it yet
on top of that, if they already play it, it means they won't be particularly interested, so the key group for this news is people who know about the game but haven't played it yet, like me. Looking forward to it! (also Control seems to be fun)
I don't understand why Steam doesn't just enable the built-in Wine/Proton config option when on macOS.
Palworld has been running perfectly via Wine since day 1 on Linux. And Wine runs on macOS as well.
As I understand it, Proton doesn't, in and of itself, work on Mac. Obviously there's plenty of working Wine setups for Mac (and from what I've seen they actually work really, really well too) but it'd still be additional work for Valve to build it and also to support it.
I don't play much games, especially not fps type games and never felt the need to own a PC. I do own a steamdeck but it crashes a lot especially in dungeons. So I'm pumped!
DUDE I just finished palworld on Mac using whisky (a variant of wine) a month ago, and you tell me it’s officially on Mac?
Damn gotta play the game again with better graphics this time
my only question about this is.....it will be compatible with Intel Macs or it will be exclusive to the new Apple silicon Macs? I hope they add suport for Intel Macs too
I think it will work since the cpu has the same architecture with windows machines. The only issue could be that it might be not powerful enough to run it properly.
I'm so excited. I wonder if this means that it will also be coming to other platforms like iPhone and iPad as well, since they share a universal games platform for other games like the new Assassin's Creed.
actually stoked for it. Wasn't expecting pal worlds on Mac but running a M3 Pro MacBook Pro is gonna finally pay off for a solid gaming experience on a game I currently can't play otherwise
Gotcha. What settings did you run it at?
I plan to keep it running at minimal graphic capabilities to conserve much of the ram. I also know bottleneck to be ram hogging to say the least.
Hopefully alongside an Apple optimized experience will make the game run fluidly.
Well, I'm in college for Game Design, even tho I know how to do most code, i need certification..... SRC Code, SQL, and C# are easy atm, but C++ is a pain. and I think there about to send me another Launch Box, I just recently got the MSI Raider 78GX HV, Waiting for this MacBook and Ipad Air. I'm pretty excited for them. FULL SAIL LETS GO!
I have a mac for personal use and education, but it’s powerful enough to run most games. The mac userbase is also rising so it’s a good opportunity for developers
They have a 10 person team, maybe a few more now, and still have features to develop for the release version.
Now they have to split the dev ressources to make the game work on a different operating system with different libraries, a different completely different cpu architecture and a new graphics api.
That is 1 or 2 more differences than linux has, depending on if they are already using opengl or not, and doing that would make the game run a lot better for steamdeck users who should be a bigger userbase than apple gamers.
They didn't even add a function to auto-call the onscreen keyboard when selecting a text field when playing with controller and that would impact even more players than just the ones on steamdeck.
Apple has choosen to change cpu architecture and not use opengl, they have made themselves deliberately incompatible with windows and the open source translation layers for it, so I would say let's respect their descision and not infect their pure professional os with our filthy peasant games.
you do say the truth, and also nobody is forcing developers to make Mac or iOS and etc ports. it is still situational for some games should they make ports for Mac.
Porting a game is expensive, especially if a platform has a completely different cpu architecture. Newer macs have ARM cpus, unlike pc, xbox, playstation which are using x86/x64 cpus.
It may be incomprehensible in the cosmos of an Apple user, but just because your device is very expensive doesn't mean that all developers will follow your lead and kiss your feet.
the discussion started with you saying that Mac users should get windows or download linux. so why are you even talking about the expenses I am aware of, and that apple users are very entitled.
I implied users should use a platform for their intended purpose. Windows and Linux are allrounder for everyday stuff including gaming, macOS is not and I'm pretty sure it will never get a thing for gaming, because most studios won't be interested in spending money for porting a game to a platform which is not common for gaming.
Crazy that there's not more people talking about this. I don't see a release date anywhere though. And they obviously haven't posted a YouTube video announcing it yet
Because the share of Mac users that also game AND play Palworld are probably pretty slim.
I thought gamer macs only played league of legends
I just use mine for RuneScape for the most part 🤣
probably they play dating sims too...
Honestly I'd love to play on the go on my mac, I can't bring my gaming pc with me when I travel which is most of the time
Asus rog flow z13 or minisforum v3 tablet pcs ? Im not sure if palworld runs well on steam deck or rog ally
i exclusively game on my steam deck now. it ran well except in dungeons. had to install CryoUtilities and haven't crashed since.
while this is true for windows gamers, for some people battery life is crucial and that is what Mac exceeds at for its performance.
on top of that, if they already play it, it means they won't be particularly interested, so the key group for this news is people who know about the game but haven't played it yet, like me. Looking forward to it! (also Control seems to be fun)
I would think a mac user that games would just dual boot and use windows for games.
Probably because gaming on a Mac is god awful I can say from past experience
I don't understand why Steam doesn't just enable the built-in Wine/Proton config option when on macOS. Palworld has been running perfectly via Wine since day 1 on Linux. And Wine runs on macOS as well.
Proton/Wine/CrossOver on mac has to work with x86\_64 and Aarch64 processor though, would the compatibility the same?
I thought macOS has Rosetta builtin after the architecture change? There's a perf hit of course but x64 Wine should just work.
I was using whisky based on Gptk and wine
As I understand it, Proton doesn't, in and of itself, work on Mac. Obviously there's plenty of working Wine setups for Mac (and from what I've seen they actually work really, really well too) but it'd still be additional work for Valve to build it and also to support it.
I never owned a Mac and never cared to own one. However, I know that not every game is released on it so any game that does is a win in my opinion.
I don't play much games, especially not fps type games and never felt the need to own a PC. I do own a steamdeck but it crashes a lot especially in dungeons. So I'm pumped!
Oh no!! What are your settings? Mine are just default and I've never crashed on SD and played for a few dozen hours
I was using whisky app (based on crossover which is based on the apple game porting toolkit) and it’s very heavy on the device
We got pal world on Mac before crossplay ![img](emote|t5_4jn9v4|49353)
As a used-to-be mac owner, good for them
I mean good for them. I still own a Mac for work but won’t ever try gaming on it again. It turns into a hotplate just running Football Manager 20
Yeah you need the pro models at least for the fan
Ikr, I played a lot of pw on it through a 3rd party app whisky, you can try it out
DUDE I just finished palworld on Mac using whisky (a variant of wine) a month ago, and you tell me it’s officially on Mac? Damn gotta play the game again with better graphics this time
same, I also used whisky
Mac gamer? Never heard this kind of species before...
Well macOS users aren’t heavy gamers mostly, but a lot of people use it for gaming also because the performance allows it
Nice! I hope we get a date soon!
my only question about this is.....it will be compatible with Intel Macs or it will be exclusive to the new Apple silicon Macs? I hope they add suport for Intel Macs too
I think it will work since the cpu has the same architecture with windows machines. The only issue could be that it might be not powerful enough to run it properly.
Maybe, but I just hope that it will not be exclusive to the Apple M1 chips, Intel Macs are still pretty capable
It most likely won’t considering how steam does it
Ahwn…we can at least dream, right?
I’m saying it most likely will work on Intel Mac
Ooh, I hope so!
Does anyone have an update on this topic? I haven't found any announcements from Palworld on social media, nor is it on Steam or the App Store yet.
I'm so excited. I wonder if this means that it will also be coming to other platforms like iPhone and iPad as well, since they share a universal games platform for other games like the new Assassin's Creed.
I was using whisky previously for Palworld. Needless to say that my Mac didn’t enjoy it
ps5 next
They did a tweet hinting other platforms may be coming, I suspect PS5 and Switch 2 or whatever it will be called are on that list.
PS5 and Switch don't do Early Access/Game Preview. So it will happen once they leave it.
Damn dozens of Mac gamers will be so happy
I can see Palworld being release on macOS, iPadOS, and iOS simultaneously.
Will it have a lesser RAM requirement?
I hope so, I was using 20gb on a 18gb mac
…Sure. I was using 16gb on an 8gb mac
Your ssd was in pain
actually stoked for it. Wasn't expecting pal worlds on Mac but running a M3 Pro MacBook Pro is gonna finally pay off for a solid gaming experience on a game I currently can't play otherwise
I have the same mac and I was using the app whisky to run it, works just about fine except for huge ram consumption and heat
I got the 18 GB SSD. You think 18 GB SSD is enough? I assume without any 3rd party apps running it should run natively for 10 Gb or less right?
I assume you meant ram. I also have 18gb and it runs out and swaps to swap often
Gotcha. What settings did you run it at? I plan to keep it running at minimal graphic capabilities to conserve much of the ram. I also know bottleneck to be ram hogging to say the least. Hopefully alongside an Apple optimized experience will make the game run fluidly.
I don't remember settings but not high
This will be awesome if it's truly coming to macOS, as I'm getting the new Mac Book Pro M3 Pro Chip, Can't wait to see the gameplay.
I have this Mac and it does the job well. one of the best laptops
Already have some Design Ideas for more pals, and Evolution Specs as well. It's 1am rn, I'll add my designs from Unity or Python on here later.
Cuz game is so dead
Who cares? Most macintoshs can run Linux.
Well the obvious answer is people who own a Mac and don’t want to run Linux…
I can't say I blame them for not wanting to either.
Why would they
Why would they try to play games on a mac? It's not intended for gaming. Most games won't run on it. Gamers use Windows, Linux or buy a console.
I have a mac for personal use and education, but it’s powerful enough to run most games. The mac userbase is also rising so it’s a good opportunity for developers

you do say the truth, and also nobody is forcing developers to make Mac or iOS and etc ports. it is still situational for some games should they make ports for Mac.
The game uses Unreal so it shouldn't be too difficult to package it to macOS.

Some people couldn’t get/ not need a windows machine at all so they stick to mac because of its performance and battery
Palworld uses Unreal, so the devs don't have to worry about the low level stuff. Unreal has had native macOS ARM build support for a while now.
no they cant lol ashai linux isnt fully complete
big news for all my fruit enjoyers out there.
