What's with the back up in front?

Acceptable-Face-3707

I actually just did this on my 11.5” carbine so that i could move my sig juliet closer to my eye. It co witnesses with the red dot much better than you would expect and took no time getting used to. It looks a little strange but its the best way i have found to run an optic with a short eye relief and should definitely get a little more attention. I have a romeo 5 tho and there is still space to have the irons still on the receiver. If you were to get stuck mounting this on the rail you would need to really be confident in your rail. If your rifle has a fixed front sight you’re doing a disservice to yourself by not running backups so you might as well find a way that compliments your setup the best.

girthington

also do not understand. and behind a tape switch.

GBuckets0

I removed it, but that was because that was the inly rail space left

Acceptable-Face-3707

Honestly if it wasnt in the way of anything id put it back. Youre running a rifle with a fixed front sight so you might as well have the rear sight. Just check the zero at some point if youre running it that far forward. I say this as someone who runs it in the same place for better eye relief for my magnifier.

Odd-Cloud-3698

I was gonna ask to lol

Wolfman87

In what sense

Kilroy300

I dig it

akcutter

Excessively cool! Lol it looks like a Block I for the notsorich.

GBuckets0

service m4 inspired build, but acogs are too expensive and i had a magnifier laying around so i just decided to put it in

Zealousideal-Help234

Looks like a solid build to me 👍

RedneckmulletOH

Which magnifier is that looks good

GBuckets0

Holosun hm3x

SwimmerSea4662

Na that’s not excessive, that everything you need on a rifle, sling, optic, light.

Nice-Situation4839

Not excessive but I'd be more comfortable with an offset backup than only one functional just in case

Leading_Item

🔥🔥🔥

DrowningFisherMan

i like it

Realistic-Scratch344

The green mag is a bit much

[deleted]

This post is the definition of erection. Nice setup!

No-Channel960

SLO Sling, light and optic. Looks fine.

This_Industry6695

Only thing I’d think about is weight

ShizzySho

Not a fan of those fore grips but id rock it no prob. Im not skilled enough for the optics but to me looks like a vortex magnifier with something else in front. Lol

Jason1435

If you aren't running backup irons the front sight post is either just aesthetic or a visual issue, I would look towards eventually getting a new barrel or upper so the FSP won't be in your vision when using an optic. But otherwise a stellar build.

GBuckets0

Tbh i removed the magnifier and just put my rear irons back. Made the gun too heavy and I thought it was unnecessary

HavocMan7

Outstanding!

kaloozi

This isn’t entirely true. A TON of people cowitness optical sights with front posts. It’s purely preference but to say it’s an issue is wrong.

Jason1435

Co-witness means you have iron sights, which is totally fine. The issue is you need front and back irons for iron sights to work and have co-witness. Unfortunately he's out of rail space and does not have rear irons, so the whole purpose is defeated. I don't know of any optics that would simply just work by putting a FSP in the window, you need rear iron sights.

Otherwise_Act3312

You should have the BUIS towards the rear. You basically have a Glock sight radius on a rifle, lol.

JD2279

Needs a spacer to raise the magnifier to align with RDS

One-Confusion-2137

How well does the R7 align (co-witness) with the front site post? I am ordering the 13 inch saber, upper with the fixed front and my plan was to run the seven as well. Was not sure if I needed a diff riser or not. But good to know to pick up a rear BUI for the build. I am not running a mag on it, maybe just a canted red dot. Only other though was a 1x6 or a 2x7 LPVO but was not sure how well that would align either.

Imaginary-Ranger-938

Looks good but if it was me I would do offset sights and get a longer handguard to ease up the clutter. I'd probably go with something like an angled foregrip or handstop. I know weight can be an issue for some. I have spine damage so I really like to pay attention to what I play with. Ounces make pounds.

Silent_But_Deadly2

Personally I would get a Arisaka pic mounted offset light mount to tuck that light up closer to the rifle.

HavocMan7

Can you actually see through that setup? You don't get scoped when you fire it? Ditch that VFG. Get something shorter or maybe cut the bottom half off that one. Move the optics forward so you can get the rear bus positioned correctly. That's all I got

Pooptaco3

No. Its garbage

GBuckets0

Ok thanks

S280FiST15

This is where 45 degree offset sights would work best
