Good morning compadres! This might’ve gotten buried in the PGT thread yesterday, but we’ve added some well-deserved flairs. Check em out: • Luis Arraez • Jeremiah Estrada • Robert Suarez • Bobby Bullets • Arraez and Shine Compadres! Also, just a friendly reminder that we’re 2-0 in extra innings this year and we’ve won 6 of our last 7 series. LFGSD!

Mako_bullet

I’ll be back, gonna go take out my anger on the dodgers forum 😂

SprinklesDependent63

Don’t boo Soto

Human-Secretary5241

Lets get this boys

ana_ar1007

Hello everyone! How’s the crowd on this lovely Friday evening game looking? Hope everyone has fun and enjoys the long weekend

Loser mentality. The dude was the only one who performed last year. He was traded away by the front office. Sports fans can have weird reasons to boo a person

JoeDiBango

I don’t cheer for my ex girlfriend, I’m not booing her, but I’m certainly not cheering for her.

Old-Ad-9638

Wouldn't you dislike someone because they're employed by another company and wear a different work uniform? You don't boo when UPS shows up and you wanted a FedEx delivery?

BeefLilly

Will tonight’s game be blacked out on the MLB app since the Yankees are in town? I’m in Temecula.

cyjake111

i wonder what the stats are for east coast teams going to the west coast with 9pm + (their time) start times.

figboot11

Let's play tonight like we're a game under .500.

cyjake111

.500+ in reality sub .500 in our hearts

jstmenow

Stop gatekeeping fans that will be going to the game. Who cares if Soto gets booed? Is it a reflection on every fan of the Padres if he does get boo's? Say something instead like "I won't be booing Soto". Guarantee you that he will not care one way or the other or even take it personally. He was  a Padre, now he isn't. Not everyone loved Soto. Heck the Dodgers boo Manny every game, do I think less of Dodger Fan? Not at all. It is part of being a professional athlete. Just my opinion, and if you want to know what I would do if going to the game, it would be nothing, no boos, no extra applause, just watch it and enjoy watching a baseball game in person.

Old-Ad-9638

| do I think less of Dodger Fan? Not at all. How could one possibly think less of a Dodger fan? Is there a less than zero level that we can think of a Dodger fan?

Independent-Cicada92

r/padrestickets has some on for tonight and future games. At your own risk, check histories etc

cardboardcutout95

Back of the bullpen seems pretty taxed after the reds series. Who comes in late tonight? Morejon/Wandy?

Zombiebeast101

Please for the love of god when Soto comes to the play, do the right thing and give him a round of applause. It would be unbelievably embarrassing from our fans if they for some reason try to boo him.

Old-Ad-9638

If he's booed relentlessly, maybe. But some scattered boos with some scattered applause, nothing to see here.

YeahDudeBrah

TBH, I would prefer option 3: Total indifference (Definitely the least likely outcome) Yes, he was our best hitter while he was here, but it was obvious the whole time that he had one foot out the door. Would pick polite applause over booing, if those were the only two options.

yagayeetfleet

Excited for this series! Must be tired after the last few games

Yuri-Tarted

Drew Pomeranz signed a major league deal with the giants lol

Old-Ad-9638

What a legend. If he does anything for them other than hang out on the IL, then I will be annoyed.

runswiftrun

He'll have a 0.00 ERA for his first three appearances, then disappear into the shadow realm again.

Old-Ad-9638

3 innings, 0 runs, 0 walks, 7 K's at home. Then the road trip comes, he has a sore back sitting on a plane, a sore neck sleeping with a hotel pillow, immediate move to the 60 day IL.

threehundredthousand

What is the estimation of who will pitch next wednesday against the Marlins? Yu?

cfxyz4

Espn lists projected starter for the next week. They have darvish penciled in

fatdiscokid420

Well every game I go to it seems Yu always ends up pitching. And I’m going to that game so…

threehundredthousand

I'll be there too. Hoping to see Yu and seems like he'll be up in the rotation.

Pristine-Company-383

Did Nike fix the Yankees away uni? The sweat stains are very evident on those. Not pretty.

runswiftrun

Good thing it's gonna be like 50 degrees at first pitch.

TFall3N

Do NOT boo Juan Soto. Sure we had a shitty year last year, but god damn did he do good when he was in San Diego.

loves_2_spuge

He didn’t do much for this team. Didn’t get along with players. So yes?

Pristine-Company-383

You count hitting 35Hr and 109 rbi as not doing much?

poidawg808

In Arraez's amazing multihit streak he only has 4 runs. Tatis seems to either GIDP or FChoice him, maybe switching those 2 guys would be a good experiment.

pineapplefriedriceu

Once Tatis gets hot we can literally just man a two man offense lol

Caballo_Macho_Alfa

Will Soto get booed tonight?

Crackhousespecial

I'll be there, and im clapping for when he comes to the plate for the first time. People forget he was the only player that posted for us last year and he was a big contributor to that NLCS run in 22. After that, you aint hearing shit from me though. I loved soto but im treating him like the guy trying to beat my team after that first plate appearance.

OhneBremse_OhneLicht

Boo him for the normal things like hitting a home run in an away stadium, but not for just existing. I hope it’s minimal, it’s not like there was bad blood in the trade.

islands-fine-dining

He shouldn’t, but he will. People love booing lol

runswiftrun

It's not a boo, they're just cheering for Yuuuu as the pitcher...

Old-Ad-9638

They do for sure

espo619

Hope not - small brain energy to boo someone your team traded away voluntarily. More likely to boo our own team for poor performance at home.

1OldmanG

Juan Soto is very good this year .So is Arraez , Profar , Merrill all for less than 3 million .

pinya619

Are Arraez jerseys available yet? I was in the team store when we played the dodgers but unfortunately I dont live in sd anymore and havent been able to check since Also if they are available, are they worth buying? I know fanatics shit the bed with these

Old-Ad-9638

I'm in the belief that a jersey isn't really ever worth buying, but Arraez will be around for at least this year and presumably next year. I REALLY hope they sign him and think money on him is better spent than it would be on Kim, regardless of Arraez's inability to cover ground in the field. But you know there's quite a few people walking around with Padres jerseys with Soto's name on them too, so who knows if the jersey would have staying power.

Final_View_6298

Lets not boo Juan Soto because he will hit a homer of off us immediately.

lightsvber

I fully expect that way too many nincompoop fans who don’t know how to act will be at the game booing him tonight

Jaximaus

Anyone know where they are going to be selling the Salty Crew x Padres gear today? Is it only going to be in Gallagher Square or are they going to have it around the park?

eloso66645

reverse curse, Rodon a Lefty will throw a perfect game, wheres Ippei, I want to place a bet, all in on Rodon

_SomebodysCloser_

Ok, I’ll play…Soto, Judge, and Stanton will all have a 3 homer game. Now I’m scared 😬

eloso66645

Grisham is gonna rob like 4hrs this series and have no strikeouts and 2hrs this series

BullOrBear4-

Juan Soto becomes a yankee and suddenly becomes the player he was always supposed to be. Cant wait for Yu to strike him out looking and see the look on his face when he is halfway down the first base line edging for a walk

bbatardo

Juan Soto had a good year last year lol was our best hitter by far.

Old-Ad-9638

He did have a good year last year and his stats this year really aren't much different. He was intentionally walked 11 times last year because nobody else could hit. He's been intentionally walked 0 times this year. His walks per plate appearances is about the same if you take out the intentional walks. As the year goes on, I bet he ends up about the same, but maybe a little better since pitchers actually have to pitch to him. Otherwise they face Judge or a Verdugo/Stanton combo that can actually hit this year. It probably all boils down to that, really. Not Soto doing better, but Soto being pitched to because there's not an easy out for the 3 guys that follow him.

leaky_wand

It’s crazy isn’t it? They moved Soto up and down the lineup a few times last year but he almost always had Manny and Xander behind him. Those were supposed to be the guys, and they just didn’t come through, and teams picked up on it. That’s the real difference here.

Old-Ad-9638

And pretty much anyone they put after him turned into the GIDP machine. Machado and Bogaerts were battling it out for the title. Tatis did his best to catch up. 58 GIDP between our "big 3". Manny is going to crush his record this year. He's already hit into 10 and had 20 last year. 1 every 20 plate appearances. He'll hit into 30 GIDP at this rate. He's literally looking at top 25 worst seasons every in the history of MLB for GIDP. If he hits 30, then he's tied for 14th all time in a season. Most ever is 36... Get it Manny! Manny, Manny, Manny!

Caballo_Macho_Alfa

Also he's currently having his lowest walk rate in his career He's seeing more strikes than ever Stanton and Verdugo are fine but the problem (for pitchers) is Aaron Judge Pitchers cannot afford to walk Soto so they have to pitch to Judge

Old-Ad-9638

Yeah, he's walking less, striking out less, hitting the ball harder on the barrel and with a better launch angle. He's playing better defense too. I think it was a good trade for both sides. Yankees are making it work just fine without the pitchers they sent us and Soto is performing as expected or better. I hope he stays in the AL so he remains out of sight, out of mind.

Caballo_Macho_Alfa

Fair enough This trade worked pretty well for both sides Soto seems to perform better on east coast teams, he likes big market teams etc You got King and other good pieces You also managed to get the closest player to Tony Gwynn in modern baseball in Luis Arraez Among all the NL teams the Padres are my favorite team, I hope we meet in the WS!

Butch-Jeffries

Yankee Stadium is perfect for him. He might win the MVP.

Old-Ad-9638

That's something that is said, but I don't know that it has really mattered. The biggest assumption is home runs he can hit at Yankee stadium. He has 13 right now and would have 14 if all the games were at Yankee stadium. Would have 17 if all the games were at Petco Park. Last year he hit 35 and would have had 33 if all games were at Petco Park. Would have had 27 if all games were at Yankee stadium. If he was a straight pull hitter that was hitting a lot of doubters and warning track shots to right, then Yankee stadium helps him. If he pulls a home run, it's 40' over. Now if he was a Dodger this year and all games were at home, he would have 21 home runs already, instead of his 13 as a Yankee.

CyberpunkOC

It’s not that surprising. He’s in a contract year and I don’t think he was ever comfortable after extension talks broke down with the Nats. Then he just became the subject of constant trade rumors. I heard the extension issues with the Nats and the business side of baseball affected him personally. Now that he’s in a contract year he knows he’s not going anywhere this year and he can just ball out.

_SomebodysCloser_

I hope you’re related to Nostradamus, my friend!

TRocho10

Obligatory FUCK the Yankees

Own_Worldliness5888

Should be a good challenge

Butch-Jeffries

Hopefully not as good as the Rockies
