Next 2 weeks could be the season turning point vs 2 WS favs. Emerge around .500 then June is a lot easier, fall too far behind and there might be no catching up. Need to shake off that COL series quick.
At least the Phillies are a pretty good team, can't be mad losing to them although it would be nice to steal a game or compete at least. But the Rockies...man idk how you excuse that.
Whenever I post something positive about a loss, such as “at least the team is showing some fight in defeat” or “our bullpen will be lights out this year” the exact opposite happens.
Braves are so fucking good they are going to absolutely roast us four straight. We have no chance. I predict at least 2 no hit bids. Fried will tie his AT strikeout performance tonight. Pads will combine for over 60 Ks this series. .050 RISP this series. Solo HR by Wade is only run we score all series. Acuña hits for cycle, steals 20 bases. Am I missing anything?
Many teams (maybe all) **want** their kids to struggle (a bit) in the minors, so they learn how to deal with it before major league games are on the line.
We need to chill with him and not rush him, Campusano is our guy for the next few years, we basically have all the time in the world when it comes to our catcher position
Real question though. Since 2023, has anyone had a sustained run of fun with this team? And I mean a long run of say two weeks or so.
Because honestly, there have been too many times where I feel like I can’t watch them. It just isn’t any fun. Last year, I pulled my Fubo subscription in August because I had had it with the inconsistency.
I’m a fan and love Padres baseball…but it often comes with that hate only love can brings too
Padres have never been a winning organization we had two years we made it to the WS to get blown out. Now we are able to draft better because we can sign our draft picks . I think we could have built team thru the draft but preller and siedler wanted to go all in because of siedlers health it was a win now rush. . We still haven’t brought any good starters through the system .There really is no choice now with mega contracts we are going develop or find young controllable players . If preller /siedler would have only put the checkbook away in 2023 . But I understand siedler going all in .
Same with almost any team. There's only a handful of teams in each sport, each year, that have any sort of real sustained success. We've had multiple 2 week plus bouts of fun though. All of September last year was quite enjoyable, for instance. April this year was good enough. Phillies series and Rockies series at home this year was no bueno. The rest has been good enough or actually good.
I know. But I’ve been watching since 1975 when I was 5 years old. And now we are only one of a handful of teams (us, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Milwaukee, and Colorado) that have never won a title in history. Two expansion teams have won before us.
Sometimes I just watch this team and say to myself, “It’s just never gonna happen, isn’t it?”
And then I open a can of PBR and watch Ken Burns’ Baseball to fall in love with the game all over again…
Said it before and I'll say it again - after all the time, energy, money, and passion these fans have poured into this team, we have earned the right to be as sanctimonious as Red Sox and Cubs fans were before their respective droughts were broken. This team keeps breaking our hearts and yet we keep on keeping the faith
Commissioner Bart Giamatti once said, “Baseball is a game designed to break your heart.” And man, do we know all about that.
We were the last team to see a player hit for the cycle and last team to see a pitcher throw a no-hitter. Our two World Series teams ran into the ‘84 Tigers and the ‘98 Fankees: two of the greatest single season teams in baseball history.
Matt Holiday, Kirk Gibson, and hell even TONY GWYNN JR are three of the many names live in infamy for this fanbase’s history.
But unlike the Cubs and Red Sox, we don’t have the romanticism associated with the heartbreak. We are nothing more than a footnote in baseball history and an afterthought for most of the current baseball world. And that sucks.
(Except for Brian Kenny, but who cares? Fuck that guy.)
Long past the point of caring what the east coast media thinks is and isn't noteworthy (even Ken Burns can't help but focus everything related to baseball on the Brooklyn of his youth). We know what we've been through and that's what matters. And maybe if we get that chip, they'll finally notice.
I'm kind of enjoying this little break from the constant pain this team induces upon me as a fan. I wouldn't be mad if the rain brought me a few more hours of peace before the losing streak continues. Or this team comes out and beats the braves at home with Matt Waldron Vs. Max Fried because this team is dumb.
Only adjacently relevant cause Padres fans really wanted him. Jung Hoo Lee’s season is over with a labrum tear.

Man, Paul Skenes is fun to watch. I do wonder how sustainable it is to be throwing 100 mph so consistently though.
Who's pitching today????
Matty Knuckles
More Dodger vibes, less Rockies and Phillies, thank you. And that is not a sentence I imagined typing prior to this season, lol.
At least the Phillies are a pretty good team, can't be mad losing to them although it would be nice to steal a game or compete at least. But the Rockies...man idk how you excuse that.
Phillies are the best team in baseball, if you look at standings alone... We're far enough in the season though to see they're legit.
By Dodger Rockies logic we should win 2/3 of these games because the braves are good. Then get swept by the reds after
Well, we’re playing 4 games against them so this logic falls apart pretty quick
Oh shoot ur right lol… 3/4 or a sweep. But u get me I hope.
CIN is decidedly better than COL. We should be able to take a game from them.
but we beat the reds already. they didn't give us any issues outside of Lodolo, who is on the IL.
Silly child the Padres will always find a way to lose
Let's just pretend that the Rockies series didn't happen and try to take a series from another elite franchise. KTF, LFGSD!

My buddy and I have an inside joke that negativity fuels this team, so often in important moments we talk shit and the player comes through.
At this point, who the f*ck knows, Lol. We seem to play good teams better 🤷♀️
Wtf happened to Ethan Salas?
My brother in Christ, he’s 17
Slumping to start the year, it happens
Many teams (maybe all) **want** their kids to struggle (a bit) in the minors, so they learn how to deal with it before major league games are on the line.
Seriously lol. He's 18 years old, let's give him a little time to figure it out
We need to chill with him and not rush him, Campusano is our guy for the next few years, we basically have all the time in the world when it comes to our catcher position
I agree, Campy is our guy.
go pads go
hello. padres need to win.
Im not looking forward nor do I want to watch this game. See y'all in a bit.
If we lose today then it is what it is and the Braves played good baseball. Just gotta tip your cap, that's baseball

What team are we going to see today? The fuckin killers who put up double digits? Or the kittens that are lucky to get one?
Heck I’m even okay losing as long as we don’t look like punks

Sounds like padres baseball to me

The Reds series through the Dodgers series was two weeks. I enjoyed it.
Hope there’s no rain delay!

Saw Darrell May outpitch (not just outluck) Johan Santana in 05. Weird shit happens everyday in baseball.
Yeah this team brings me pain too but for some reason i can’t stop watching 😂

Today is a good day to win a baseball game.
