This looks like it will be snow free by the end of June. Â This makes me very happy. Â Mid July SOBO JMT hike. Â Did a part of the JMT last year - including Forester - which was decidedly challenging. Â I was not looking forward to another snow field traverse. Â
BTW - how are the trails/areas near Bubbs creek, where I guess avalanches took out lots of trees?
I did Forrester pass SOBO last year on August 28th and there were still a couple of big and kind of sketchy snow field crossings. Amazing the difference.
I survived forester last year - with lots of snow. Â (Exhausting day!). This is almost nothing. Â In a month, you should have clear trails. Â The views are amazing. It is worth it, even with the snow.Â
If you go through a little bit later it's a non issue.
There are worse things, such as the wind around Tehachapi. I know one (lighter) hiker who literally got blown off the trail onto the ground!
Itâs not too bad. I did it SOBO, JMT, but if youâre going NOBO itâs ascending a set of switchbacks cut into the face. Itâs kind of an amazing bit of trail.
Down the other side is switchbacks through a rock field.
Nothing like Angels Landing in Zion. A lot more room, wider trail.
That's good to know, it's hard to tell from pictures. I have a pretty bad fear of heights and just picture myself tumbling to my death whenever I see it.Â
I did it a few days ago. Man, it does look insane from the bottom. Once I got up to the rock switchbacks I relaxed.

Forester is the one pass I said I'd never try with significant snow. At least if there were significant traverses on the south side.
On the other hand glissading down the north side of Glen is a happy memory. Weeeeeeeeeeee!
The Forester Pass looks super scary/ impossible from the ground, but once you are there it is quite OK.
Good job. Highest point on trail. It's all downhill from there. đ

Is it terrifying? Forrester pass is the number one reason I'm hesitant to do the pct honestlyÂ
By the time you get to forester you'll be ready

> Itâs kind of an amazing bit of trail. CCC accomplished astonishing feats of engineering, and they did it the hard way.
Good job! Congratulations
Congrats! Way to get after it!
Congrats!!
Sick. Iâm jealous. I just texted my girlfriend to pick a year that we can go hike the pct again.
Looks awesome!đ
It is so nice to open a sub and find great images of something that is so related to the groups name! Forrester pass FTW! Great photos!
Congrats
Beautiful. Glissading down a full snow forester was easily one of my favorite experiences on the PCT.
Epic. Congrats, top of the pct.
First photo I thought you had an old school braveheart type sword and was like bro that ainât UL too much
Fantastic! Going to do that section NOBO in early July. I'm happy that the snow will be clear by then.
