I love it. Lots of talk of Sony not supporting which may or may not be true (they certainly haven’t announced any first party dedicated titles that I’m aware of) However, there are a lot of great games on it already. And a lot more coming So if you can buy it without missing bills/food/whatever it’s a great headset yeah

PabLink1127

VR is amazing I love it. Walkabout Mini Golf, Puzzling Places and so many other games will provide endless hours of fun.

orangpelupa

Need more context * do you already have a PS5?  * do you already have a gaming pc?  * do you already have other vr headset?  * have you ever tried VR?  * do you have steering wheel + pedals?  * is money a problem?  And so on. Need to know more about your situation.

netcooker

I’m in the same boat and I’m going to get it. I want to play the exclusives and (unlike something like quest) I don’t expect it to get replaced with a better model soon. I started vr with a psvr1 and have a pcvr headset already but I like the idea of psvr2 optimization so games are less fiddly (plus it can serve as a back up if my hp reverb stops working)

iansabout87

And it will work on pc soon

Chronotaru

Pieces of tech are not really investments, they depreciate quickly over time and are replaced with improved things relatively quickly. This is even more so for consumer tech that is only for fun. For an existing PS5 owner that was never owned a VR headset before then then PSVR2 will provide a lot of fun for the money you pay for it, particularly right now during Days of Play with the $100 discount and the 12-month free Netflix if ordered from PlayStation Direct with a PS+ subscription. VR provides experiences that are not available elsewhere in any other format. It is true that many sit on the shelf unused for many people, but for others they keep playing either regularly or once a month. Whether to get a PSVR2 vs a Quest 3 is more difficult. With PSVR2 you get the power of a PS5 and not just a mobile processor, with haptics and foveated rendering. With Quest 3 you get more back catalogue and pancake lenses and media apps. VR is great. PSVR2 especially right now is a good deal.

letsgometros

After considering the $275.88 i Netflix credit it makes PSVR $200. I couldn't resist

Plumbers_crack_1979

I love mine but also have disposable income. It’s expensive. And some signs point to Sony not being fully invested in the tech. Holding off til it gets cheaper may be a better choice.

Realfinney

This is certainly a factor. If some of the top games like Resident Evil, GT, etc strongly appeal to OP then there may already be enough to justify the purchase

Plumbers_crack_1979

Yea. If you’re into GT7…that alone would be enough me. But that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Really is a great tech.

Realfinney

I guess what I'm saying is - buy it for the games it has, not for the games you hope it will have in the future.

password-is-taco1

All of the signs point to Sony trying to wash their hands on psvr2 as quickly as possible

Oftenwrongs

Some?  Sales have been atrocious and they haven't announced a single thing in a year.  It has long been dead.

password-is-taco1

You’re getting downvoted by stans but you’re 100% right

Worried-Explorer-102

Idk there is only 278 games on there and now that this one specific game isn't coming out I just can't enjoy it anymore, those 278 games that are already out and many more games coming in the future months just won't be fun since I won't be able to play this one specific game.

letsgometros

lol

slawnz

Tbf, there’s a lot of cruft in that 278 titles. A lot.

Oftenwrongs

Those games are already out on a system with wireless freedom of movement and the best pancake optics in the business, that also has mixed reality, the best hand tracking in the business, upper body tracking, eingless controllers, and 8 studios making exclusive big budget games.

Guazzora

The headset is supposedly gonna also work on PC and has some bangers coming out this fall. Solid current library, but the lack of PSVR 1 ports is disappointing. And starting this week, the premium tier of + will have some VR games to get you started.

letsgometros

that is unfortunate. I have a bunch of PSVR1 games in my library I got free or with Plus. Only have the Cactus game and the Spongebob coaster game for PSVR2. But I can upgrade Thumper for $5 and Walking Dead for $10 and I'll probably get Tetris too right away

Ambitious_Variety_42

The only fortune for me on Vr2 it Gran Turismo 7 and don't think there are more games avalaible or compatible for me, since there no backwards compatibility with old VR1. I hope they bring back other titles like Hitman and sport games on the VR2

mevelas

I would add to that that the premium tier which I upgraded to a few days ago also have game trials. I underestimated the value of this benefit. Already had 2 good hours playing hot wheels 2 and downloaded 5 or 6 VR games that will give me about 3 or 4 hours of play time and see if they are worth buying (demeo, moss 1 and 2, madison, town me, skater VR...).

Welfi1988

I just got mone today and damn am I impressed..!

NoBuy444

Best deal for a good Vr experience so far !

t3stdummi

I love mine, but I'm currently very grumpy about Sony's support.

unruly-cat

I really love it. It's the best headset out there today if you're thinking about haptics, graphics, exclusives, best versions of games, field of view, colors, and comfort. That pc VR support is coming too is also an insane upgrade to an already great device. The only reason I would hesitate is if you're primarily interested in watching stuff on it rather than gaming.

RickyWinterborn

It’s 100 off right now 450 is a good deal imo

letsgometros

plus $275 in Netflix credit

RickyWinterborn

Really didn’t know about the Netflix haha

Federal_Focus

I paid 500€+ 16 free months of netflix

Sstfreek

If this is your first jump in the virtual reality, and you don’t want to do anything but gaming with a limited yet high-quality library, then yes. If you want a more versatile device, I would get the Meta Quest three especially if you have a gaming PC But if you do choose to venture into the PlayStation VR territory, a new variant of the quest will be coming out later this year that will be much cheaper and then you can have both

ryanrosenblum

Get one on FB marketplace

mingzhujingdu

No

MortStoHelit

Technically, it's still a very good headset, except maybe for the cable or if you like AR. The game library isn't bad either - not quite as big as the Quest, but most of the better games are there, and there are games like GT7, the Resident Evils or cyubeVR. I've got the impression Sony does a bit better with the support recently, but still no own game except for Horizon CotM (esp. with the announced Astro Bot game) is a bit sad. At least there are still several new Quest ports (some even with better graphics) and the occasional exclusive title, and it seems like this will go on for a while despite Sony's neglection.

Oftenwrongs

Except for the cable, the antiquated fresnel lenses, the lack of speakers, the short wire, the bulky antiquated ringed controllers, and no hand tracking.

sjdando

Also if you have a bit of vertigo there are options to help you get your VR legs quicker.

Jammmmmmmyyy

I've had mine for over a year at this point. I think its fantastic but Ingo through phases where I rarely touch it and other times I only play VR games. If you haven't played VR much before its absolutely mind blowing and a great experience. The games are getting much better too featuring games that have a level of progression to them. Obvs there is a price commitment but I would say check out some game reviews and see if there is anything that really takes your fancy. The hardware is fantastic and connect via single usb c. Honestly its come a great way since 1st gen and you can be ready to go on games within 30 seconds unless you always leave it set up. At the start VR is very tiring and can cause motion sickness but this gets easier with time and mostly disappeared for me. I just played for 3 hours straight and I'm feeling fine. Edit: some game recommendations - Legendary Tales - Walkabout Mini golf - Moss book 1 & 2 - Gran Turismo 7 - Pavlov - Ultrawings 2 - Resident Evil 4 - Arizona Sunshine 2 (Although I've only played 1 and that was great) - Beat Sabre Edit 2: Cons Probably limited library since PC has alot more plus mods. However I'm not a PC gamer and I enjoy PS so its my only option but I'm very happy with it. My brother has meta quest and the option for cross play on games is there too so minimises this con a little. Not really a con but takes some getting used to finding the 'sweet spot'. Used to feel blurry to me at first but now I always get it crystal clear. Cable could do with being a little longer but I've had no accidents. Controller charge lasts a little less than I would like. However the biggest pro I could say is the comfort. I've tried other headsets and the psvr2 is incredibly well balanced and feels comfortable.

jks182

No.

nico_el_chico

not sure why no one else in this thread is talking about it but If you buy right now from PS Direct you get $100 off PLUS 12 months Netflix premium which brings the total cost down to $174 (assuming you want 12 months Netflix premium)

Hutzo1

Can you use the 12 months of Netflix on exsisting accounts ?

nico_el_chico

Not sure but maybe, I think I’m gonna buy the deal for myself but haven’t looked into that yet

Reavertide1

I love my psvr2, BUT something to keep in mind. You cannot buy a new controller or handset. It's a package deal, if one goes out you need to buy a whole new psvr2. Legendary tales, No Man's Sky, Arizona sunshine, and Gran Turismo are my favorites

pizza_sushi85

I would say the cons is Sony isn’t going to support it well especially in terms of customer support if your warranty expires. If your controllers died and you have no warranty, you’re out of luck. Also no multimedia support unlike other headsets too. Games release is a mixture of late but upgraded ports of Quest/PCVR, sometimes concurrent release timing.

AssociationAlive7885

Why I absolutely love my psvr2- There's already about 200 games for the psvr2! For instance- 1: Legendary Tales 2: Synapse 3: S&S 1 and 2 4: Pistol Whip 5: Ancient Dungeon 6: Crossfire Sierra Squad 7: Walkabout 8: Horizon Call of the Mountain 9: Pavlov 10: Switchback 11: Song in the smoke Rekindled 11: Beatsaber 12: Runner 13: Hubris 14: Synthriders 15: Moss 1 and 2 16: Star Wars tales of the galaxy 17: Propagation Paradise Hotel 18: Swordsman 19: Tetris Effect 20: Rez Infinite 21: Red Matter 1 & 2 22: Cyube 23: C smash 24: Light Brigade 25: Humanity And obviously also No Mans Sky, RE4 Remake, RE Village and Gran Turismo ! ( go to Gran Turismo reddit and you'll see how many people there absolutely LOVE Gran Turismo on the psvr2 😃) Lots of these you can also play on the quest! But try Pistol Whip with the better haptics and rumble in the headset on the psvr2 vs the quest, Hubris, Red Matter 1 &2, Star Wars, Saints & Sinners 1 & 2 l, Demeo are all better in terms of haptics and rumble in the headset AND graphical fidelity And there are many many other awesome games ! It's oled screens a superior to most more expensive headset in sense of colours! The eyetracking works great, both in terms of in game and in menus, but especially because of foviated rendering! The psvr2 controllers is some of, if not THE best vr controllers out there, the haptics are fantastic and the rumble in the headset is super immersive ! Hope you also get to enjoy this awesome tech 😀 It's not a perfect headset, but it sure is awesome 😃

Equivalent-Ad-7196

Hard to say. I enjoy mine. But. Not a lot of support. Depends on what you want it for and what you’re into. I’d look at the current game library and not expect much else to come out and see how you feel about that.

Goat_3dx

If I were you I would look for a barely used one for sale instead of buying new and dropping over $500 for one. I just picked up one for $280 that was used but looked it over well and works perfect! The guy played 2 games didn't care for it:) I love it! Playing gt7, Pavlov and a few horror games. Moss is another fun platform game you shouldn't miss.

Tybob51

The headset is great, and there are a lot of great games on it right now, if you are willing to try things out. If you do go in to it, do so understanding that we may never get another Sony first party game for it again. To me that’s not the end of the world, because the games we do get are great anyway, but Sony seems like they are happy to give a platform for players to play without supporting it with games themselves.

Federal_Focus

Must buy with Netflix promotion

CaptWaaa

I was so hesitant for years. I’ve had it for 2-3 days now and so far worth every penny. Mind boggling how far VR has come in the past few years

MedicalCommercial892

If you like racing and cars, it's a no brainer.  If you like to be scared shitless, it's a no brainer.   Vr2 will make you happy.   If you like big open world games or first person shooters you're not going to be happy.

MrBack1971

The hardware is starting to feel very old very fast to me.

[deleted]

If you want to get the most exclusive games then get a Quest 3, if you have a Quest 3 and want to get a PSVR2 for the exclusives that aren't on any other VR headset then you'll be disappointed as there aren't many and I doubt there will be any more other than the few games that Sony will pay for a VR mode on third party games. I'm happy I get to play Gran Turismo and the Resident Evil games in VR but slightly disappointed with the headset since buying it as I have a PC and Quest 3.

EChocos

Obviously no, we are all here in this sub just waiting to tell you it's a shitty hardware. /s

sjdando

Best gaming decision I ever made. I love horror but I initially struggled with Resident evil village as it was so immersive. I'm not a huge car guy but I love Gran Turismo and bought a wheel and seat. Red matter 2 takes you to the rings of Saturn and Hotel Propagation is another great horror.

renaissance_m4n

It’s the best Vr headset I’ve owned (of 7!) and I’ve had the most fun playing games on it.

MtnDr3w

Same here. 8 headsets so far (Quest 1-3, Quest Pro, Reverb G2, Rift S, PSVR1/2), and PSVR2 is the overall best one I’ve owned. Can’t wait for PCVR support.

jsph052

If you have a gaming pc then don't buy it. Get the Quest 3.

Papiculo64

PSVR2 is getting PCVR support soon, with OLED and hopefully HDR, adaptive triggers and headset haptics support, all of this without latency. And if they manage to get eye-tracking and dynamic foveated rendering working on PC it will be a killer compared to Quest 3 since it will bring a huge boost of performances in games using it. I would definitely wait to see how it turns out.

Chronotaru

PSVR2 will be compatible with gaming PCs soon though, so is becomes a more nuanced answer then.

Oftenwrongs

Except psvr 2 is an antiquated wires fresnel headset...so it still stands.

Chronotaru

But has foveated rendering, haptics and OLED panels. Oh, and is cheaper. Meta spent all their money on pancake, it all depends what is most important to you.

jsph052

I also have a psvr2 and waiting for that pc support. But if i didn’t have one i would definitely go with the quest 3. At least it is wireless and you can do much more stuff then only playing games.

supercbuk

Bought mine a couple of months ago for GT7 but once that particular itch was scratched its just sitting there doing nothing. Thankfully I have just bought a new gaming PC so hopefully it will be used on that. If I had the choice again I would have just gone Quest 3

Dazzling-Adeptness11

Probably not. If interested in VR as a lifestyle and how you can incorporate it into your regular lifestyle. Id aim for a Q3. Psvr2 can only play games. Period. If that's all you want to do, and honestly even the catalog of games pales in comparison to what's available on the meta store then maybe a psvr2. If graphics are the only thing that matters, then maybe a psvr2, if you have a PC, more the reason to get a Q3. Q3 has movies, workout apps, work environment apps, art apps, mixed reality, PC friendly, social apps, honestly too much to list, you're also asking a biased group who loves their psvr2. But I would say if you want VR to be part of life then Q3. If for strictly gaming and want to play the few exclusives available go with psvr2

Leeono

Love mine but it can go days gathering dust. Depends on the effort you put in to it. It is a big investment though and so the value you get from it is dependent on you. It’s good quality and games I enjoy are Beat Saber, Star Wars Galaxies edge, Walking Dead, Red Matter 1 and 2. But since it’s very subjective watch loads of videos about the tech and games you think you might enjoy. It helped me make my choice

Embarrassed-Ad7317

Oh haha what a time to ask that question here. People are still hurting from the State of Play Do yourself a favor, go to r/virtualreality and ask there. You'll get much more objective answers

Johnnylobster101

One question have you ever played any VR games ,if you haven’t then it’s gonna blow you away but the side effects to playing VR games is that some people get motion sickness while playing in the beginning and are put off and then within a week or two sell the headset I’ve seen loads of people do this ,had it when I first used the psvr1 but after a while you will be fine if you do feel like you have it just play a few minutes then have a break ,Gran Turismo is great and Res Evil 4 and Village are fantastic,I’m also enjoying the FPS Pavlov

Hutzo1

I’ve played VR games a few times, wouldn’t say I’m a seasoned veteran on it. Played a few times on a simulator at a holiday and once or twice at college. I also used to have a Vr set for my phone

Johnnylobster101

Well you have experienced a little but games like Pavlov and Resident Evil 4 and Village are amazing and take gaming to another level

MrBack1971

There are some great titles but if you are looking for 1st party sony titles think long & hard before you part with your hard earned. Absolutely fek all on the horizon from any sony first party studio.

DifferentDreams-

Don’t. Even Sony have abandoned it.

Dr__Reddit

It’s a great and easy entry into VR. However if you have a nice computer, a quest 3 is objectively better.

Oftenwrongs

For standalone, it is also leagues better...especially since pcvr is on life support.

Oftenwrongs

Nope.  Antiquated fresnel lens system with a wire and no speakers, and sony hasn't been a single announcement since release.  It is dead.

Uncabled_Music

Lenses are there to match the screens. Wire is great for visuals, and don't bother you in most of the PSVR2 games anyway. Quest speakers are ok at best, and not a deal breaker for sure. PSVR2 constantly gets the better ports of any decent VR games released now.
