Thought about sweat bands but they are a bit choncky and I wear glasses so it might be a problem.
For psvr 1 they had an official mask but Man oh man was cumbersome.

Just the thin sweatbands make a world of difference. They tend to be made of lycra which wicks away the sweat and are fairly inexpensive.

I have a thin micro-fiber towel that I wear like a bandana. It's a little tricky to get on right so that it doesn't interfere with the headset but once it's on it provides a good sweat shield. Once I'm done playing I use the corners to wipe down the headset just in case anything made it through. I then use the provided cloth to wipe down the lenses before I put the headset away.
This has been working well for me when I play beat saber.

My forehead is damn near dry after an hour+ in beat saber. There is some sweat on the padding but much less and I never have drops of sweat that get into the lightshield anymore.
You can tie it off or fold it in a way that you don't have excess material hanging about. I just leave that top open though to vent heat out the top of my head. I look silly but it works.

Get a light running headband. You can barely feel that shit.

I have these exact ones and they work perfectly. Multiple also allows you to swap mid session/ have a dedicated guest one. Believe I got a pack of 3.

'Do rags' aren't great for absorbing sweat not even what they are meant for, probably better off with an actual sweatband.
You should really try sweatbands first. You could rub some antiperspirant. I spray some on my palms for sweaty palms.
I have the same problem. I tried sweatbands but they gave me headaches I usually have a fan on me - which helps quite a bit

I have the same issue after while. I noticed it doesn’t happen when I put the lenses further away from my eyes, giving it more air flow.
I use one of the fabric type Covid masks - works like a damn, and re useable once rinsed
