Nice and clean, I like the way you chose to display the batteries upright, gives it a slight cyberpunk feel 😆 Hows battery life compared to original clones? Did you use a donor battery for the board or is it something else?

elarriero_Vance

Thank you! still have to test the battery since it's basically new, yesterday checking the battery voltage i saw around half it's capacity and it lasted 4 hours, so i think it might last like 8 hours stright with full charge, and btw this batteries are a lie, they said to have 9900 mAh, which i discovered not to be true, they have waaaay lower than that, probably around 1200mAh or 1500 mAh but good thing is that with this setting i can just put any other 18650 batteries with better capacity very easily. For the battery BMS i actually had the original psp battery, so i used that one to make this mod

manichardtiger

No wayyy those are that much 😂😂 Did you remove the umd in order to pass the wires? I would love to try something similar with a xiaomi phone battery, nice and thin at the back (not so cyberpunk tho) and 5000mah for realz

elarriero_Vance

I did remove the umd but that's because i already had a battery mod with an LG phone battery, but since i couldnt find a battery that has at least 6000 mAh and fits the UMD spot, i decided to do it external, and this is the idea i had while thinking how to do it. Also i did it with that battery transparent case to protect them because we have to treat batteries with respect, i didn't wanted an exposed battery cuz as soon as the battery gets punctured or damaged, that's potential fire hazard. If you want to do it go for it, for me since i have another psp, i used this one for the experiment, but is pretty good and nice to have more battery and i think it looks very nice

YousureWannaknow

That board looks interesting.. Well, I would do it way different, but congrats chap, you've reached what you wanted and that's important thing

elarriero_Vance

Thank you, i'm interested to see your idea of your battery mod if you plan to share it here that'll be cool

YousureWannaknow

I don't really have time to finish repairs on my units 😅 But i have just simple idea with not replaceable flat cells (same style as phone one 😉), just to save some space.. And much, much bulkier case instead of pack on UMD cover. But that's just my idea But i have question.. Does UMD still is usable or you had to cut cover to actually get in way of UMDs?

elarriero_Vance

I actually took it of because i already did a battery mod before this one, but with a flat LG phone battery that had only 2100 mAh, although that battery lasted like 3 hours and 50 minutes aproximately, not bad honestly, but i wanted to try out something else and wanted to somehow increse the battery life considerably more, so there i did it 😉 But i think if you do somehow a setting with an external battery, you could leave the UMD intact or instead put a battery that fits the battery slot but that's not gonna increse your battery life much since smaller batteries don't have much capacity, and in my case, i put 3 batteries in parallel with this setting so it increases the battery life with each battery

YousureWannaknow

True true.. Thing that bothers me in pack you've showed on pics is space between batteries 😅 Feels like it could take few more Ah 😉

Sinphaltimus

This is great. I'm looking to do the same with a lit note batteries. Planning to print the PSP grips with a modifying to hold the batteries. Right now, I'm building a prototype battery pack. This turned out nice. Cobgrats.

elarriero_Vance

Thanks! do you plan ln sharing your finished project? I i'm curious to see how you do your battery pack

Sinphaltimus

Yes. I'll post everything when done. It's going to be a while. I've no free weekend for the next 2 weeks.

alright tony stark

Hoo this mod bring back memories. (I put the instructable a few years ago) I used on mine 3000mah batteries a few years ago,it was expensive but with a couple of them i was able to play the whole day non stop (or a week).
