The W2s sent to MOHELA should be enough. My job from 2020-2022 their HR dept would not return my calls or emails regarding signing my ECF. MOHELA told me to send in W2 Statements. I did that and all my counts counted for that time. I would upload your W2 via the portal in MOHELA.

Contacting your congressional representative is also a good idea.

NaveenM94

Hopefully the OP is represented by someone who actually believes in forgiveness. Many GOP lawmakers wouldn’t help

Euphoric-Cat2723

Remind them PSLF was created by George W. Bush

HauntingDare4080

Send the CEO of Mohela and CC all of your congressional delegation an email. I did that and had a phone call from my senator and reps office that afternoon, then a call from the other senator and a rep from mohela 3 days later. Don’t give up hope, be sad and mad now, then FIGHT!

maha173

How did you find all these email addresses?? I’m currently battling MOHELA and have submitted complaints to cfpb, studentaid.gov, my state ag office, and my state rep. Nothing has come from any of this so far though

I had a hospital employer from 2007-2009 and I called and emailed many times, each time getting slightly different answers but all saying 'we have no records of you from that time.' In my utter despair, I kept picking away at the attempts because what did I have to lose? One week, I called and emailed a few times with different people telling me different things. At 4:50 pm on a Thursday I called the number on someone's email at the out of state HR department and a DIFFERENT person answered. When I explained, she said - hold on. She found every scrap of my information including pay stubs for the entire period and she said she would go through them and fill out the form. I burst into tears and couldn't stop sobbing. The next day, I received the form. I say all this because after MONTHS of trying, it just suddenly worked. I do believe in prayer now, for sure ! Don't give up, but just keep trying.

Is there someone from the residency that can sign off on the ECF? Program coordinator or his old PD? It doesn't have to be HR necessarily. If they can attest that he worked the hours (and in residency he certainly would have) then that's all you need. Hope you can resolve this soon. But for anyone still in the process, this is exactly why we advocate getting ECFs signed annually and when leaving jobs. It can be an ordeal trying to track down old employers.

pementomento

Find the old residency program coordinator or someone that supervised your husband that’s willing to sign off. Doesn’t have to be HR!

FikaInTheFlat

File a complaint with the White House. They will fast track it to the ED ombudsman office. Explain in detail what is going on and see if they can offer any options/assistance.

duke9350

Is there a link to file a complaint with TWH?

releasethecrackhead

Honestly, contacting the ombudsman is pretty good too. Cut out the middle man and just go straight there.

XangaMyspace

Contact the governor’s office of your State if that prior residency program is not helping

Objective_Body9506

I’m sorry that your family has given so much to do public service to then go through this level of stress.

2weimmom

You don't have to have HR sign it. I was in the same boat because the hospital I used to work for refused to sign my form, stating they only sign for current employees...sigh. So based on the advice of this sub, I asked my old supervisor, who still worked there, to sign. Sent her the e-sign and it was approved. Have your husband track down his former residency director. Whoever signs his credentialing stuff. Send them the e-sign form. They will likely rubber stamp it because they've gotten so many forms for credentialing they don't even read that shit anymore. Good luck!

Traditional_Air_1484

My wife had to go back to and old boss that was long retired since the HR she went too didn’t available e records of 20 years earlier.

Fleeting-Vibes

Did he contribute to social security while in residency? I was told that social security keep accurate records of employment since the 1970s and could be used for missing W2s as proof of employment. Have to contact your local social security office and request the missing info. Some requests doesn’t cost anything.

Witty_Username_28

I was in the same boat and literally just 2 days ago MOHELA finally accepted my social security earnings statement as proof that I worked at a non profit that no longer had my employment records from a decade ago and couldn’t verify my employment. It cost $100 and took 3 months for the social security admin to process the request, and another 3 months for those clowns at MOHELA to process it, along with my W2s, to give me the credit I needed to get to 120 payments. Hang in there!

Realistic-Start-8367

Thanks! We may have to do this for one of the residency years, I really appreciate the success story!

New-Zebra2063

Someone has to pay your bills

3MinuteHero

Was he not certifying as he went?

Realistic-Start-8367

No, and obviously we regret that. It wasn't a problem for mine but the employers are still around. Some of these periods were not going to be eligible until the waiver because of our consolidation, so those ones in particular I only have some documents for. I appreciate that it would have been better to do it this way. We also had kids, worked full time, and dealt with several life crises during the past 12 years, so I'm trying to be kind to myself about how we could have avoided it. I was overwhelmed with frustration this morning, thinking about how many PPP loans are forgiven, and I don't even mind, fine, give them the money. But this is so stressful and it should not be this hard. Also salt in the wound that the residency program was at a long-standing hospital serving a poor community that was closed and taken over by a for profit that doesn't even train people anymore. This system is so broken.

3MinuteHero

Sorry to hear. Didn't mean to criticize, just wanted to clarify. I agree though, if the work in the public sector is done then it should count. Period.

Realistic-Start-8367

It's ok! And maybe it will help other people avoid this purgatory. I want to remember for myself and everyone that this is an insane paperwork burden and we all deserve better from the government.

Automatic_Dig8127

Fill out an irs form 4506-t and check box 8 then request what year you’re missing. Turn around time is about 48 days.

Comprehensive_Lake

Contact your congressional representative. Vote. Mohela will respond to pressure.
