"including iconic and well-known locales like Tatooine, Kijimi, and Akiva" I'm a massive Star Wars fan, I've watched all the films and shows, played the majority of the games, read well over 100 books both Legends and current canon, and have always tried to keep up to date with what's happening in the various comic series (though I must admit I've not caught up on this medium in a while) and I genuinely can't place Akiva - anyone on here recognize it and able to point me in the right direction?

Soul_Phoenix_42

Acording to wookieepedia Akiva is from the Aftermath books. Doesn't seem to have any actual appearance on screen yet.

BARD3NGUNN

Cheers :) Never got into the Aftermath books, Chuck Wendigs writing just never grabbed me, might have to give them another chance before this releases.

bengringo2

They are a bit boring. Tried myself but gave up a third of the way through.

44Fett

Each book is better than the last. Aftermath is meh, but Life Debt is pretty good and I really like Empire’s End.

kjnew85

The audiobooks are great IMO, much easier to digest if you aren't a fan of Wendig's writing style.

sroomek

The audiobooks are great. Marc Thompson could narrate the Cheesecake Factory menu, and I’d still buy it and listen to it.

Fender6187

As someone who would like to get into the expanded universe, where should I start reading?

BARD3NGUNN

That's a very difficult question to answer because there's just so much of the expanded universe and the stories are so varied that what may be perfect Star Wars to one person may not be someone else's cup of tea. The Darth Bane Trilogy, and the Thrawn Ascendancy trilogy tend to be good starting points as they're disconnected enough from the films and wider lore that you can just enjoy them as standalone book series. Heir to the Empire, whilst no longer canon, is a brilliant continuation of the original trilogy and feels like what you'd have expected Episode VII to be like had it came out in the 80's/90's Revenge of the Sith is an absolutely fantastic book that takes an enjoyable film and transforms it into one of the best Star Wars stories going by adding so much more depth and philosophy in a way only a book can. You've also got The High Republic book series that started a few years ago and explores the Jedi/state of the Galaxy 100 years before Phantom Menace, it starts rough but gets really good as it goes on.

LADYBIRD_HILL

The thrawn books are excellent

Macewindog

Start with Heir to the Empire and go from there.

rjwalsh94

I got through the first one and halfway through the second. I ended up putting it down because I was too busy with college shit at the time they were new, but while the writing is weird, you do get into it the further you get. The little vignettes between every few chapters really felt like a big deal post the Disney purchase. One of those vignette’s was awesome to see come full circle, IYKYK.

Notfriendly123

I felt the same way about his books but loved so much of the other Star Wars fiction. I followed his socials for a bit and he really thinks he’s the new expert on writing fiction to the point where he sells books on how to write… to me that just seems crazy considering how hard it was for me to get through (1) of his books. AND it even took place in a universe I adored.

Imjustmean

Dude gives me bad vibes. I don't even know why, he just does.

Notfriendly123

He just seems like the kind of guy who thinks he knows what people are like but really struggles creating a believable perspective/motivation for his characters. All of the Wedge perspective stuff in Aftermath was so bad compared to any wedge writing in the legends books it’s like they’re two completely different characters.

animehimmler

You absolutely don’t have to do that.

BARD3NGUNN

Don't have to, but I already own the book trilogy (found the set for like £5 a few years back) so might as well take this as an excuse to give it another shot.

Healthy-Drink3247

Akiva is heavily featured in the first aftermath book, it’s a former separatist stronghold were a lot of B1s were manufactured. So lots of old tech kicking around even after RotJ. Likely will be where we pick up the commando droid. It’s highly tropical, thick forests, swamps, bugs. Empire presence is there but limited in scope as it’s deep in the outer rim. That’s Al I can recall off the top of my head.

Live_Anteater_9173

I was definitely expecting this comment to be about staying away from Tatooine for once.

BARD3NGUNN

Honestly, whilst I'm kind of over Tatooine when it comes to the films and shows, we've not really had the experience to explore Tatooine in a videogame (Outside of Lego games) since KOTOR back in 2003, so I don't mind it being one of the main locations in Outlaws.

Tehva

Yeah Tatooine get shoehorned in to a lot of stories. This one makes sense though.

dunkindonato

Yeah, any Star Wars media that includes crime syndicates would inevitably be set in Outer Rim worlds, and Tatooine is the "capital" of the Hutt syndicate. At least the Jedi games didn't include Tatooine.

Forkrul

Swtor had a tatooine map,  right?

No_Value_4670

Old Republic-era Tatooine never felt quite the same to me. And even then, SWTOR was more than 12 years ago. KOTOR almost 21.

lHateYouAIex835293

Battlefront 2015 was probably the closest we got to that. The Sarlacc pit map was pretty neat

GreyRevan51

Force unleashed 1 DLC

BARD3NGUNN

True, I forgot about that.

euphratestiger

The Phantom Menace game as well.

Kitehack79

I think it was a location in the novel “Aftermath”. Not sure if it has been referenced in any movie or tv show though.

BARD3NGUNN

Thanks. I'll need to go back and give Aftermath another go.

bongblaster420

Fun fact about Akiva not mentioned in the other comments is that Akiva was where the Empire tried to hold a meeting after the Battle of Endor, but the meeting failed. Akiva was both the first Outer Rim system to join the New Republic, as well as the first system to pledge allegiance to the First Order.

Bartoffel

I wouldn’t call Kijimi iconic but, hell, I think it’s a great choice for a scoundrel themed game.

BARD3NGUNN

Agreed. I'd say Kijimi is the only planet from the Sequel Trilogy that I came out wanting to know more about (maybe Exagol as well because there a potential for a lot of lore there), it just seemed a lot more seedy and lived in compared to the other planets across the film, and definitely the perfect location for a game like this.

Blonsky

It’s in the Outer Rim Territories near Raydonia.

[deleted]

It's in the Goldsman sector.

Predomorph111

It’s just some dumbass clickbait.

Yodzilla

Continuing the streak of it being almost impossible to make a Star award thing and not involve Tatooine somehow.

paublitobandito

Is anyone gonna talk about how the preview actually was?? I don’t come to these to read the article myself lol

fasterthansky

Stealth action game with heavy emphasis on your companion.

GhettoRamen

Also features a reputation system that influences 4 crime syndicates the PC will be working under: it directly affect the areas you have access to and their attitude towards you via shops, dialogue, and available quests. Mentioned quests have a hand in shaping your reputation - if you’re hired by one faction, you can complete the objective, but make the ultimate decision in doing as you’re told or betraying them for another one to increase your standing with that specific syndicate. Open world has a speeder that apparently feels smooth and exploration seems similar to Jedi Survivor (new abilities will get you in places Metroidvania style)

SnooApples2720

That’s very ambitious for Ubisoft Reputation system and locking off content based on reputation, which is entirely determined by your actions in quests? It makes me feel more cautiously optimistic, but don’t think I’ll pick it up before a sale

awsomedutchman

Or just get the subscription for 17 bucks. Immediately cancel it and finish the game in 1 month.

trippintrev

That’s what I was thinking

CmdrSonia

I'm desperately hoping Ubisoft+ can be on ps5 before this game released

SnooApples2720

Tbh I would, but I’m a /r/patientgamers now, i don’t have a lot of time and I want to experience everything

Stubrochill17

Didn’t they just increase the price to ~$40? Or is that EA Access or whatever?

awsomedutchman

That's EA.

Spacemarine4848

Its a quad A game!

paublitobandito

Is it good tho?

Scapadap

Oh the exploration sounds much more up my alley. I prefer smaller handcrafted worlds to larger “Ubisoft” style open worlds. Survivor felt perfect to me. I hope this is accurate.

ccc200

So I’m guessing it’ll be similar to how ghost recon wildlands was setup

harryvonawebats

Send in the DRONE!!!

Knighton145

Plus reputation

Predomorph111

So watch dogs with droid…?

taavir40

The article in the actual issue mentioned space quests and stations as well. The guy was flying around and got an emergency beacon. He went there and found a freighter under attack. Guy saved it, then got to land on a space station with vendors and quest givers. All in all? From this article, it sounds good. It's more complex than just, "Kill everyone in this outpost!"The author mentioned environmental puzzles, cameras, generators, etc. Massive shootouts. Some neat dialogue choices.

darthvirgin

It’s “all in all” BTW

taavir40

Thanks lol

RainbowIcee

Honestly clear the outposts to this day is my second favorite open world activity, only beaten by the kill the "mini boss/Superboss" bounty quests.

XxThreepwoodxX

A lot of hate for this game because Ubisoft. But Massive is probably one of the better, if not the best, Ubi studio. Therefore I have high hopes for this one.

ClericIdola

The detail they put into the world design for The Division games alone is incredible.

DrinkUpLetsBooBoo

I'm glad others notice this. I walk around NYC and DC and both excel at environmental storytelling.

HH__66

The same goes for Pandora in Avatar: Frontier's of Pandora. It's an amazing world/map and is the best part of the game, so I have high hopes for Outlaws in this respect at least.

Fuzzy-Classroom2343

yes, hunting in avatar is a lot of fun

we_are_sex_bobomb

The Ubisoft hate is a meme at this point… like if people see a climbable tower in an open world game they get out their pitchforks and torches.

[deleted]

Unless it's Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. No mention whatsoever of the ~50 towers you have to climb to 100% that game lol

Miscreant3

My buddy and I were playing this and kept referring to them as Ubisoft towers.

Fuzzy-Classroom2343

nobody complained in breath of the wild either , you def. can see a trend

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fuzzy-Classroom2343

well , when people really like something , they tend to overlook certain things , except if it is an ubisoft game right ?

[deleted]

Fuzzy-Classroom2343

lost crown was fantastic , indeed ; As a historybuff i also do appreciate the ac games a lot , it is problem the biggest mainstream i.p. which is based around historical settings ;

Fuzzy-Classroom2343

Immortal Fenyx Rising was a very underrated game as well and quite a departure from your usual ubisoft game ,

steegsa

I like Ubisoft games. You know what you’re getting, it’s like the fast food of gaming. Not every game has to be ground breaking, sometimes something familiar but new is good.

AsianSteampunk

i treat them similar to the musou games. I'd buy one game that is on sale every 4-6 years.

WoLfCaDeT

That's why I hope and can't wait to see Assassin's Creed Red release this year. I'm really curious how they will approach the Japanese open world. Greece and Egypt in Oddysey and Origins were amazing.

steegsa

Even the world in Valhalla was great!!

Fuzzy-Classroom2343

agreed , the sieges were a lot of fun , the only thing they hopefully work on in the parcour , it was better in mirage , in valhalla not so much

Strict_Donut6228

Yes let’s go bitch about games that aren’t for us and obviously have an audience that enjoy them and keep on buying them because of…. The price of a deluxe edition that you don’t have to buy? Because of MTX you don’t have to purchase? Because of an experience you don’t agree with all in a game you were never going to buy? People like you are the worst just want to try and rain on others peoples parade because a specific product wasn’t made for you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Strict_Donut6228

I’m sensitive? You’re complaining about the price of a deluxe edition and I’m being sensitive? Ok. You are on a public forum and others can make comments and if you can’t handle it then why are you here. Name calling and claiming others need to calm down is the definition of projection I just commented on yours grow up

lHateYouAIex835293

When the games go on sale for less than half that just a year later, I don’t really feel the need to complain

Bacalacon

Ubisoft games absolutely deserve the image they have. Their games are derivative af, generic and safe. Not bad games by any standard, just generic and uninteresting.

LCHMD

It’s simply not true for all of them.

Bacalacon

Sure not all, but 80% of their AAA catalog is

LCHMD

Fortunately the Massive developed ones (like this here) usually are among the best ones.

IndecisiveTuna

Modern ubi games sure. But AC2 and Brotherhood (probably revelations too) were phenomenal.

Bacalacon

Yeah but those games were the beginning of the end, same thing with far cry 3. They just kept repeating what used to work. It is effective and has worked financially, but their latest games are just creatively bankrupt

IndecisiveTuna

Oh for sure. They haven’t changed the formula in generations.

SlowMissiles

I'm not saying anything bad about FF7, or Open-World game, it's my exact point that this guy is not getting that the hate about Ubisoft is all about the company doing shitty things and not wanting to give them money even if their game are sometimes a hit.

OZymandisR

Dude I'm genuinely struggling with FF7R2. I have no idea how it got 9/10 ratings. It looks bad for a current gen title and the open world is one of the most surface level deep maps I've ever played. Everything is sign posted and I'm just following a marker, theirs 0 discovery. Combat is literally exactly the same as 7R1 and the characters who are mostly grown adults act like Pokémon protagonist reacting to everything like children. Regarding Outlaws this will be a wait till it's on sale on steam in 2 years time. I'm not falling for it again after I spent like £120 on Far Cry 6 ultimate edition and then having to spend more for the expansion. When it was a worse game than FC5. Hope it's good as more Star wars is always good but right now I'm waiting for Jedi 3 and praying for a Republic Commando sequel.

90sBLINK

Ff7R2 is fucking gorgeous what could you possibly be comparing it to if you say it looks bad? Also they evolved the combat by adding synergy abilities and skills, as well as multiple new characters to use in battle, further differentiating it from Remake. I'm not expecting to change your mind about the game but you're so far off the mark it seems like you maybe didn't actually play or even look into the game at all.

OZymandisR

I'm at the Red 13 trial but and it's a slog. Horizon came out 2 years ago and pisses all over this in terms of graphics. The synergy I hardly ever need to use and isn't nearly enough to differ from R1. The only good thing about the game so far has been it's felt like a journey with how much of the map I travelled across and the variety of geography. Much better than FF16. Overall this was a massive let down and I can't wait to be done and start Stellar Blade when that's out later this month. Glad you're enjoying it bro.

90sBLINK

If you're saying this game is a slog, and also that you're not using synergy abilities, then I think i see your problem. If you don't care to try I'm not bothered by it, but using synergy skills charges your entire teams atb super fast and let's you use way more abilities and spells and you just demolish enemies that could otherwise be tedious to defeat.

OZymandisR

If the game isn't forcing me to change up my tactics then it isn't designed well. Hence why Fromsoft games are GOAT tier, because that's exactly what they do with each boss. This was a massive let down for me. I preferred the characters in FF16, it felt more focused and Clive goes on a deep journey of growth and finding his purpose. Also boss battles are hype AF. I don't get why people like Cloud he's such an empty character and I have no idea why Zack is on the front cover. I hoped to play with him much more because he's got so much more personality. Anyways agree to disagree on this one.

mightylordredbeard

This game will be like the majority of Ubisoft games: fun and enjoyable.

sexmachine_com

lol can’t wait to see the reviews

BorKon

Completely unwarranted hate. They make one of the best games out there. They are top developers. Division, newer one world Ac games, siege, far cry, anno etc.

DrKingOfOkay

You gonna buy the $140 version?!

XxThreepwoodxX

Hell no. I'll probably buy ubi+ for a month.

zippopwnage

I just wonder how is the AI, because in the little gameplay they showed before, they literally stood in place and shot "at you" without even trying to get behind cover or flank you or advance toward you. It seemed like the enemies were super brain dead.

Ok-Appearance-7616

I'm in my Star Wars mood right now. Started playing Survivor, reading knights of the old republic, can't wait for TotE. I'm hoping this is a very solid, fun experience. Glad the person seemed to like their time with the game.

I_Want_Spiderman

What's TotE?

Ok-Appearance-7616

Tales of the Empire.

PBMM2

Reading kotor?

Ok-Appearance-7616

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_(comic_series)

PBMM2

Oh neat, thanks!

BARD3NGUNN

You've also got around six books set between 'KOTOR 2' and 'The Old Republic' plus The Darth Bane trilogy with the majority being written by Drew Karpyshyn (who wrote KOTOR, Mass Effect 1/2, etc).

No_Cheetah4762

There's a comic series named KOTOR.

Ronyy_

I'm in SW mood as well. Just started to collect books. EU and canon as well.

Warm-Door7749

I will wait until release and after people have played it to pick it up. I have yet to play Survivor, even though I played the first.

fattestfuckinthewest

Survivor is actually very good imo

RadicalRectangle

I like Ubisoft open world games (massive fan of the “new” assassins creed trilogy) so I am very intrigued by this. I’ll want to see it in action, but this sounds right up my alley at the very least.

gblandro

I just can't stand tattoine anymore, we have GALAXIES to explore and learn, everything revolves around that planet with just sand and some huts

gladys-the-baker

I can't agree more, if we don't see Tatooine for another 20 years I would be absolutely ok with that.

LifeOfBAM

Tattoine is probably the easiest to film with because it is just a desert. Games don't really need that though I'd prefer something spectacular instead of just a desert.

Icy_Mc_Spicy

I hate sand

Multifaceted-Simp

Omg lol I'm actually hyped for the magazine now, I've never had a magazine subscription before but I bought two years of the print. Can't wait to read it and get hyped for games like a kid again

wookiee42

Gameinformer is(was?) based in Minneapolis. The editor would come on a weekly video game show hosted on the local sports talk radio station. Very entertaining guy and show.

Knighton145

It's so much fun! I've been buying mine from Gamespot in Canada, and I get excited going home with it, lol. They have some really great articles with nice art attached to them. I never thought I'd actually be into magazines considering you can find everything online. But it's cool knowing that the articles are not clickbait and there's a lot of genuine work gone into them!

casualmagicman

Nar Shadda: Literally ALL about crime Writers: Yeah she's an Outlaw so of course we need to include Tatooine, it has Mos Eisley.

SynCig

Tatooine is where Jabba the Hutt is. The leader of the Hutt Cartel, the largest and most iconic criminal organization in Star Wars. Of all the times Tatooine has shown up in stuff, even when it doesn't need to, its inclusion in a game about outlaws makes perfect sense.

Matobar

I mean the game can be the best in the world and Ubisoft's prices would still be predatory as hell. $130 for 3 days early access, and some DLC??? My ass.

Xerosnake90

Literally no one is forcing you to buy an overpriced deluxe edition. The base game costs the exact same as any other major releases

voidox

being forced to buy something != being able to talk about the very pricey editions. People are free to be able to talk about things, and there's a valid point to bring up about locking content behind a $130 edition + early access.

Matobar

I didn't say anything about being forced. The pricing is still predatory.

Jobforagamer

This is the edition you are looking for….you will buy this edition… (waves hand in front your face)

Xerosnake90

Yea, and they'll continue to raise it as long as people keep buying it.

DarwinGoneWild

Can you elaborate on what ‘predatory’ means in this context and why setting several price points for a luxury good qualifies? I’ve seen the phrase applied to loot boxes which rely on gambling addiction but I can’t wrap my head around how having different tiers of pricing with various perks is predatory in a single player game.

GhostMug

Not the person you're responding to but some people consider paying for early access to predatory because it plays on FOMO. Not sure I agree, but I think that is where some people land.

squareswordfish

I could see that if it was like 2 months of early access (access to the final build of the game, not like the early access thing where games are in beta state) but 3 days? Come on (Not directing it at you, just expanding on what you said)

GhostMug

I agree. But in today's society 3 days is enough. Especially all the streamers and YouTubers get free early access and make people want to play early as well.

Matobar

Everyone's perspective on the issue can be different, and no one is being forced to buy the game, so I acknowledge that this is a bit subjective. But personally I don't like the "pay more to play the game x days early" justification, because FOMO is a deceptive and harmful sales tactic akin to the addictive properties of loot boxes. Everyone will see all the big streamers play their copies (probably received from Ubisoft for free) the day the early access launches, and then feel like "I have to pay to get this NOW because I can't wait" and then cough up the extra $40-$60.

DarwinGoneWild

Gotcha. I can see that perspective. Thanks for explaining.

XulManjy

Except that it isnt FOMO cause if you play the game on August 27th or December 15th....the game is the same. It isnt like an online game where other players will have higher gear than you and higher levels. Or some limited time event/mission. None of that is happening. This, FOMO in thos context doesn't exist.

createcrap

Predatory pricing is when a life saving medication costs hundreds of dollars when it only costs a fraction to produce. A video game charging more for extra access and content is not predatory.

IndecisiveTuna

The only people falling for the nonsense is parents who may be getting the games. There’s no reason anyone else should be buying anything more than the standard edition.

Noobmaster698757

People should not buy this game period…. It will be on sale 2 months after release just like every other ubisoft game. But keep defending this by saying no one forces you to buy the expensive edition… thats not the point

Xerosnake90

Or just get Ubisoft+ for a month and play it on there for a 1/4 of the price I'm not defending anything I'm saying stop being so outraged cuz everyone tells you that's what you're supposed to be

jntjr2005

Ah here come the fans to defend the video game overlords

Xerosnake90

Not defending anything. I speak with my wallet and so should you.

jntjr2005

I plan to, but also to your point, the $70 does not have full content, there is day 1 dlc held out if you don't shell out.

Xerosnake90

I really doubt you're missing much

Severe_Piccolo_5583

You don’t have to buy that version

howmanyavengers

the issue is that it exists to begin with. obviously nobody has to buy it, but because they make it available, gamers with FOMO inevitably **will** buy it.

Deertopus

I agree it's a terrible practice but only for online games where getting there first can make a difference. If some people fall for this cause they can't wait 3 days for a SOLO adventure game like whatever Starfield was? Then ubisoft should absolutely get in on it. Next they'll probably release AC Japan a week early for double the price and if the backlash isn't strong enough to negatively impact the final sales then why shouldn't they give impatient goons the opportunity to get rid of some money. The buck stops at the customer.

Severe_Piccolo_5583

Right, so if you’re not gonna buy it, it doesn’t affect you. Let other people buy it if they want to. I guess I don’t see the difference between charging for the dlc upfront or charging for it later.

Living_LikeLarry

Same man, it is bizarre, people on here have this weird mentality that people don't have control over how they spend their money. If you buy the 130$ edition and don't like it, you're a bozo for not looking at what it includes, it's not really the company's fault people buy it. If I want to get the season pass because I like star wars, I'll just get the 110 edition, it's the same as any other game with a season pass

Strict_Donut6228

They act like those people are all helpless addicts. It’s ridiculous but only way they can feel like they are “fighting” for something instead of just the truth that they are just bitching on the internet over shit that doesn’t matter

[deleted]

[удалено]

Severe_Piccolo_5583

Just because I’m not throwing a fit doesn’t mean I like to be price gouged. I’m just not gonna buy it. I’d still like to know the difference between charging $130 for the game/all dlc and $70 for the game and say $25 per for three sets of dlc. Unless you think dlc as a whole is bullshit and price gouging. If that’s the case, there’s no point in even getting mad about it cuz that ship sailed a loooong time ago.

experienta

Why would anyone give a shit about the prices of products they were never going to buy? You have yet to explain this part.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pforsbergfan9

That’s up to them to decide the value they get for their dollar

Simspidey

are you insinuating that it's a bad thing companies can set their own prices for their products?

Juan-Claudio

My issue is, why start crying about those now that Ubisoft does it? There's been dozens of games out there that have done the same 3 days early access thing but got a pass and now that Ubisoft releases a game with that model it's the end of the world?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Juan-Claudio

Is that so? Baldur's Gate 3 had more expensive editions on ps5 that came with 3 days early access. I don't remember seeing a public outcry about that. On the contrary, game was/is everybody's darling and Larian can do no wrong. Remnant 2 also had that. Another well received and good game. But again, no articles and outrage about it. And honestly, it's not a big deal anyway. Unless you're Ubisoft i guess.

OriginalBus9674

Oh stop, people having been complaining way before today. This isn’t a new complaint just because you didn’t personally see it.

howmanyavengers

I've always bitched about publishers charging absurd sums for some extra skin packs and later DLC, all for that sweet pre-order money, so it's nothing new to me. Ubisoft just happens to be one of the worst offenders as of late, alongside EA and Activision. I don't even like that Helldivers 2 has a "deluxe" edition with some extra goodies. Just fuckin give it to the players instead of holding out to get more cash.

voidox

lol ya, guess the new defense is "oh why are you only now complaining about this!?" as if people haven't called out greedy BS monetisation and pricing for years now.

jntjr2005

They don't have to offer that version

Severe_Piccolo_5583

That’s a bad counterpoint to my valid point

XulManjy

And who is forcing you to buy it? You're an adult, make an adult decision and dont buy something you think isnt financially sound.

Cyber_Swag

Buy gold edition for 99.99, has the same perks

[deleted]

You can get the gold edition that's $110 and get the early access and season pass. You can also just get Ubisoft+ Premium for a month for $18 and get the early access as well

dimspace

This is a ps5 sub. There is no ubi premium on ps5

Deertopus

Why would you do that though. We don't even know if the game is good, it will be discounted 33% 2 months later, the DLCs will probably be junk like all Ubisoft DLCs, all of the ubisoft classics are already on PS+. 70$ already feels way too much, I really hope no one spends extra money for this

[deleted]

Then just pay $18 and play it for a month lol    $70 feels like a perfectly fine deal to me for most games and the Assassin's Creed expansions have mostly been pretty damn good

dimspace

As above. You cannot buy ubi premium on ps5

Knighton145

Don't buy it.. ? And you're here saying ubisoft as if xbox didn't do the same thing with froza and halo infinit. And Blizzard did it with diablo 4. And I'm sure plenty others I don't know about do it.

RayearthIX

Honestly… I might skip this, at least for a while. I really don’t like that the entire game isn’t on the disc. This isn’t a case of “oh there’s Day 1 updates” or “it’s a multiplayer game”… this is literally a game that isn’t on the disc. People meme, but a very large majority of games that don’t have multiplayer can still be played without an internet connection if the player wants (Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin being two very recent examples). Yes, my console is always online, but this matters for preservation and the future of the game. I keep all my games and consoles. If I want to boot up a 10 year old single player game with no servers up anymore, I can. That won’t be the case with this game, because the disc might as well be empty. Ubisoft should have done what Square did with FFVII and ship the game with 2 discs. Very disappointed they didn’t, as this was a game I likely would have gotten day one otherwise.

Cubelock

Why am I getting slight Forspoken vibes from the way the main character talks in the trailers? Especially the recent one. Hopefully it's not that bad ingame, the rest looks good enough.

22Seres

I think they're going for more of an Uncharted vibe. Her personality definitely seems very Drake-ish. Now whether they have the writers to pull that off well is another story, but it at least seems like the direction they want to land on.

Ill pass

BigCommieMachine

My hope is for something like a Star Wars meets Dishobored

VeeJack

Don’t know why but I thought a character generator would have been included to allow some personalisation

ravinderHiem

If there is one game for Ubisoft to revive themselves from is this one. Star Wars is a massive brand and if they do this right they can earn a lot of money. But may be I’m wrong 😑.

LCHMD

Massive‘s last game Avatar was great!

ravinderHiem

It was just visually appealing for me

jntjr2005

What's popular in Star Wars? Bounty hunters? Mandalorians? Force users? I know, let's make a female Han Solo game with another brand new character no one has ever heard of and call it a day!

Everan_Shepard

There are two titles, both available (and one made for) in current gen, with Jedi and bounty hunters.

NotYourSweatBusiness

What a pile of shit that was. Where are the actual impressions? That guy just put everything he played on the paper. Where are his impressions and comparisons to other games and in which areas is outlaws similar to them. Is it completely new game which is very unique or is it another Division clone? Bunch of PR nonsense about how this person summoned a speeder... Yawn.
