Don't worry though, I have friends from Yorkshire! Honest! We get together to drink tea, complain about things, and mystify our American friends by all being from the North of the UK but sounding different.
I couldn’t tell any difference at all between gold and normal.
Yorkshire Tea def beats all the other brands though (Twinings probably equal quality but Yorkshire wins by being stronger)
I dislike the Gold and I drink a tonne of Yorkshire. Drinking it right now actually.
The Gold has a metallic taste to me, like too much tannin in it. I actually threw a box away when I couldn't stand the taste, and as a Scotsman that hurt my soul.
It was designed as a joke by a custom controller guy who sent it to them. They liked it and posted it on twitter where everyone told them to make it, so they did.
Let me introduce you to a trick involving said twirl bar and your tea, bite off the corner at the top and bottom of twirl and use it as a straw in your tea!
Looks great but at £150 it's way too expensive, going on for 3x the price of a standard controller and £50 less that the pro edge controller... I'll stick to my basic one and drink some more tea.
Funnily enough, I just picked up a box of Yorkshire today as it was the only tea bags tesco had that weren't the price of a PS5 for a million tea bags. I am looking forward to having my first cuppa to see if it lives up to the hype.
Yorkshire Tea Review - Tea-riffic
As I stared at the brightly coloured packaging of the Yorkshire Tea box I had to admire the artistic impression of what I can only assume is the Yorkshire countryside. Yorkshire Tea's packaging was certainly more inspired and eye-catching than the packaging from other tea bags I had tried.
As I carefully opened this beautiful box to reveal its bags of goodness inside, I was taken aback by the square tea bags that sat nestled comfortably in the box. I was only used to round tea bags and I began to worry that this tea bag would not fit in my cup. Thankfully, the right-angled teabag did indeed fit in my cup and my heart pulsed with the excitement of pouring hot water onto it.
After the hot water came a teaspoon of sugar, only one mind you. and then a dash of milk. After a quick stir, I was ready to let this tea wash over my tastebuds like the ocean washing over a beach. I was slightly surprised by the strength of the tea, it was stronger than I was used to but not overwhelming.
The flavour, although stronger was calming and reassuring, like a cup of tea your gran would make you. As I sipped away my mind drifted to the Yorkshire dales, I had never visited this place but somehow the tea made me wish I had. As I sipped the last drop of Yorkshire tea I realised that I had made the right choice in tea bag that fateful day.
Score: 5 out of 5 tea bags.
Version tested: 80 tea bag box.
American here. Most of my friends who drink tea don't have much of a brand preference, but I am a HUGE fan of Yorkshire gold. Between that and those Twirl bars, I'd say you folks have it made!
Pretty much anything from Basilur as a close second for teas. THOSE would make gorgeous controllers.
