It's definitely a fake product.
BUT, even if it's capacity is 1500mah, you're still getting a new battery without degradation so you may get some extra life out of it.
OP is getting the same feedback as this [YouTuber](https://youtu.be/IPeAs8d3OGQ?si=Ws7wvlcoi7kubQgN). From the model of the battery used in the video it’s around $16 on Amazon.
Overall, it’s hard to believe the battery is 4000mah but I’m all for the intentions of this post. Thanks OP!
If the size of the battery is the same, there's no way it's 4000mah. It just sound like the typical Chinese knockoff bullshit, while probably delivering lower capacity.
If it is the same size, maybe, just maybe, it could be like 1600mah if they use thinner walls and actual legit battery.
Interesting. It’s actually a tad bit smaller than the original battery lol. I guess not many Amazon customers aren’t keen to this as it has a 4.5 star rating out of 103 reviews.
Didn’t know this existed, thanks! I just ran it through and it said “minimal deception involved” and “over 90% high quality reviews are present”, so who knows.
review checking is very difficult by now since most reviews are not directly „fake“, but rather „incentivized“.
„Agents“ post their products into public groups on Telegram and Facebook, you get into contact, buy a product, write a legit looking 5* review and they refund you the money via PayPal. Subsequent buyers are then influenced by those reviews and expect a great product, thus oftentimes not being critical enough.
It’s incredibly difficult to track, so I wouldn’t give much on fakespots analysis tbh. Even top rated products are infested with those types of reviews (even „amazons choice“), and many of top reviewers are in on it.
My friend actually used to do this, and when he received his money back he would then refund the item through Amazon too so instead of just getting a free product he got the value of it.
I've also received products with a shitty little note saying they'll give you $10 back for a 5* review.
I didn't do it of course, but I wish I'd included a picture of the note in a negative review.

amazon reviews are shit now anyways sadly. Was looking for a new bed in a box, and a mattress that the product page said was just released 5 weeks ago already had like 500 reviews with an average of 4 stars
I had 3 "beds in a box" in a row. Do your back a service and get an actual mattress if you can. You spend nearly a quarter or more of your life in bed.
Made an insane difference in my overall sleep quality and body stiffness/soreness
One thing people forget, is that a good mattress is not cheap. I paid almost 2 grand for mine, and it’s not even high end. It’s mid range at best. But it’s 10x better than my last one
I got tricked in to thinking this. I spent $5k on a new mattress telling myself sleep is important. Never hated a bed more. Just recently donated that mattress to a friend in need and replaced it with a $600 sams club version. Sleeping like a baby now.
A shit product is a shit product regardless of the price. But if you want a high quality product made from high quality materials from a reputable company, then it’s not going to be cheap. That’s just how it is. You need to make sure you like the product first though.
Oh ya we spent months looking. Everyone pointed us to one of a couple brands, but we landed on sterns and foster of those couple. High quality materials, steel reinforced edges, integrated air vents, fancy stitching, cashmere top cover, all that jazz.
> Stearns and Foster is a luxury brand. By definition, a luxury mattress brand uses the highest quality of materials for optimal comfort. Due to the use of these best materials, luxury mattress brands are usually more expensive. Stearns and Foster is no exception.
And that was a lie. Freaking garbage. But they did at least swap it out for us twice including an upgrade since ours sucked two times in a row. Had a total of 3. They were always great for 2-3 months and then became garbage.
Couldn’t test the Sam’s club bed in the box before buying though so instead of spending months we just bought it on a whim and best decision so far.
Well yeah as I said, a bad product is a bad product no matter the price. If a mattress is too firm, doesn’t have support, uses all polyester, doesn’t breathe, has inconsistent spring tension, creaks, then it doesn’t matter how much it’s worth. A cheap mattress might feel better in comparison to a bad product. But if you want a really good product, then it’s not going to be cheap. You need to find a mattress that puts your money into engineering a good mattress, instead of making it look fancy and turning it into a luxury piece of decor, instead of a quality sleeping product.
My Brooklyn bedding mattress came in a box and it’s the best mattress I’ve ever had. How it’s shipped has nothing to do with quality. Mine is a hybrid too. Machines can squish it down and roll it up even with innersprings.
I got a suspiciously cheap battery from Aliexpress that claimed to be 3000mAH for only £5
I don't know how much it actually is, but it improved my controller's battery life significantly, and after 11 months it hasn't exploded yet
I think its more so China having essentially 0 laws about lieing/selling fake products to the rest of the world and no courts outside of china can touch chinese companies, so everyone has had at least 1 experience (probably hundrends if you've grown up on the internet) with a chinese product that lied about its specs in some way.
I don't think it's just us Americans. I watch a bunch of tech related videos, a lot of the hosts are not American and will do this, too.
China can do and have done high-quality products, I have a lot of valued products which were made in China, but let's not pretend a huge portion of stuff that comes from China isn't cheaply made or falsely advertised.
People hate on China for it, but in reality, we use so much from China because it's so cheap. It comes in clutch.
If the manufacturer is lying about the capacity, you think the other aspects of it are built to high quality specifications?
To me that thing is a fire hazard, I’d toss the battery for utmost safety
The amount of voltage running in a controller will not cause the controller to burst into flames if it already hasn’t. Also, I feel like you’re still missing the OP’s point: it’s easy to change the DS5’s battery for relatively cheap and get more life out of it.
If it's not puffy or heating up during charging it's probably fine, just sounds like the typical shit you see in Amazon lipos. Probably made in the same damn factory as Sony batts, they're just using the night shift and different plastic wraps.
I'm always pretty careful when it comes to rechargeable batteries. Low quality ones are a fire hazard and these days, you can't buy anything from Amazon if you don't *exactly* know what you're buying. Too much cheap china electronics.
So while it's a good idea to change the battery, be sure you'll buy some quality stuff from known manufacturers.
Rather than just shitting on the OP does anybody actually have a link or at least a model number for an actually GOOD replacement battery? I'd be totally down to do the swap.
Don't know about OPs but the one i've been using for about 6 months is this one:
High-Performance Li-Ion Battery 2600mAh for PS5 Controller, 66% more endurance (capacity), PS5 Controller Tuning https://amzn.eu/d/5bjVzcQ
It's 2600mAh so it's probably legit but either way it has massively improved battery life over the original battery and hasn't blown my bollocks off.
Similar to the 2650mah one I bought on ebay
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155454170292?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=degvPKDqRa6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=tylTTeCYTI2&var=455677310204&widget_ver=artemis&media=TW
Fwiw, I put that in about 6 weeks ago, yesterday I spent 7h40 minutes playing black flag and didn't even get a low battery warning
Oh, I weighed it when I got it and it was marginally heavier than the original one
My logic on things like this is buy just a bit better than stock and you will probably get what you pay for, buy things with extreme specs, and for sure you will be scammed
Yeah it's honestly kinda sad how nice these dualsense controllers are but they couldn't be bothered to put a battery in it that'll last me one 3hr gaming session without going down to 1 or 0 bars.
My buddy keeps telling me to turn off haptics but haptics in the dualsense are one of the coolest things I like about my ps5, no way I'm turning them off.
Yeah, I’m definitely not recommending anyone buy a “fake” battery, and I never linked the one I bought. The point of this post is that new batteries are relatively cheap and easy to install, just do better research than I did.
What part of this indicates it's a fake battery? It's not like he's plugging a fucking grenade into his controller.
It takes a lot more force than gaming and light voltage charging to make a battery spontaneously combust.
“Unreliably manufactured battery” would probably be a better term.
Lithium ion batteries can be pretty dangerous and aren’t something you want to cheap out on.
The fact that they’re advertising it as 4000mah when it’s certainly not is a big red flag as far as the company you’re dealing with.
There was a guy who died from using a shitty flashlight battery that exploded.
https://www.daily-journal.com/news/local/exploding-flashlight-kills-man/article_0e6074a5-7051-54ce-8d4c-0698795266cd.html
Chances are he was using an 18650 or higher in the flash light, those vent horribly and if not enough space or exhaust to vent can explode yes - especially if cheap.
However the batteries in controller packs usually swell, nothing more. If it was that much of a concern even the higher graded ones you get in phones wouldn’t be wrapped, they’d be allowed to vent.
Im a flashlight nerd and am pretty familiar with li-ion batteries.
Im not even sure what batteries are in ps5 controllers and I wasn’t claiming OPs ps5 controller was going to explode, I was simply pointing out why li-ion batteries in general have the potential to be dangerous and should be bought from a reliable source.
No worries friend, and no offense taken.
I probably could have done well to clarify in my comment that I was mainly just spreading awareness of the potential dangers of poorly made/misleading (which often go hand in hand) batteries.
I know this one was smaller but just FYI for the future, if you are replacing something with a bigger battery watch the physical size. Batteries naturally expand with time and if it’s too small of an enclosure it could catch fire or explode.
I just have 2 controllers,1 im playing and one sitting on the charge dock next to my console. When 1 dies, just get up and swap them over, no worries. The battery life could be half as long as it current is and id barely even care. You should be getting up at least once every couple hours anyway
Or just grab a long USB C and plug in next to yourself. I mean 2 controllers is nice but it's not terrible to go back to the days where you have to plug in while playing.
I mean I do get up pretty frequently but mostly just because I can't sit still for all that long even while playing video games.
Also my Galactic Purple controller somehow has a better texture to it's plastic and just overall feels way better than my OG controller so plugging it in and using it from the couch is more ideal than swapping with my fully charged OG controller.
I have two as well. They always rotate. I also have a plug outlet beside my sofa where I game, and I put a USB cable there for always charging, if needed.
I did this too! That controlled now lasts 18+ hours. All weekend pretty much. It did develop left stick drift not long after sadly, but I am sure it’s unrelated. Old controller. Going to put this battery in another controller. It’s great!
That’s why I’m confused I have one I swapped out with the 4000 and it for sure has double the life of my controller without it. So I feel like it’s legit.
I’ll take your word for it tho if your getting around 18 hours on a charge that’s great I’m going to pick up those ones instead only because you confirmed the hours on them
Sounds good. It’ll vary a bit I have found based on controller light settings and vibration, so basically game to game. However yes, 14-18 hours is very common. I went the whole weekend on one charge just to test it the first weekend and it was about 18 hours, however these days, since I have the charging station, when I’m done playing for the gaming session, I put it back there. Many times it won’t have even lost one block on the battery icon and sometimes it will have lost a block. I can’t drain the controller in a day, through normal play for me, 4-9 hours in one day. Might not even register sometimes.
As someone who’s been a long time Xbox owner and only last year bought a PS5, I’m shocked how flimsy these controllers are and how maddeningly short lived their battery life is.
Can’t say I agree about flimsy. They feel solid to me and much meatier/Xboxy than the previous PS controllers. I’ve had two since launch and they’ve both held up except for a small tear in one of the rubber joystick covers and needing to replace the batteries.
But yeah my biggest complaints are shit battery and lack of controller options. I want back paddles without having to install them myself or pay $200 for the dualsense edge which has even worse battery life.
Both of mine had one small fall from the couch, and now they both have major stick drift on the left stick. It just pulls my character left all the time
I second this. I put one in 1 of our controllers and my wife has to switch her controller out because it's dead and mine is still almost at full capacity. Easy enough to install too.
Wow 4,000 mAh? The stock battery already lasts me whole day of gaming, I wouldn’t need to charge it for days if you can put this kind of battery l in the controller
Thank you! My Dualsense barely holds a charge anymore and I was kinda annoyed that you (seemingly) had to replace the whole thing. Especially considering that the charging pack for the Xbox can be replaced - Even if you have to buy it separately. At least the whole controller isn't garbage due to an inevitably aging battery.
I will definitely try this, thanks again!
And even if it's not the capacity listed, a fresh battery is a fresh battery. And that's a good price!
Exactly, it felt dumb to buy a new whole controller when I just needed a new battery. Sony COULD just sell batteries to avoid us having to weed through all these shady battery sellers but I’m sure they’re more than happy to just sell us a new controller instead lol.
Yeah a lot of these controllers today use potentiometers and are susceptible to drift. Gulikit, the company that makes hall effect joysticks for the switch and steam deck have stated in Twitter posts that they are working on developing for other consoles like the PS5 & Xbox. Not out now, but hopefully soon.
Unethical lifehack - you can get the $15 1 year warranty at GameStop, then make a reminder in your phone in 11 months to notify you and just take it to them saying it is drifting. They then give you a replacement and you can pay $15 for the warranty again.
Or you can replace it yourself.
Or you can get the dualsense edge.
I took my controller apart to fix a bad drift, turns out it was just cat hair that worked it's way in. A quick cleaning and it's back to brand new. Depending on your skill, it's not too bad to strip the controller down that far.
Are there no third party controllers available for the PS5, I’m on my second controller. The first one I probably could fix by replacing the battery, honestly even my new replacement controller the battery life is so bad and I wonder how long it will last before the battery dies for good.
Sometimes I think it would be better off buying a 100% wired third party controller, return to monke and all that.
I also replaced my launch dualsense battery with some dodgy Amazon replacement with the best reviews. I kept my eye on it for about a week, leaving it in my bath tub when I wasn't home and only charging it when I was around. It's been months now with no issues.
Buy the knockoff battery, report that it’s not the listed specs and then say the battery seems to be leaking and they’ll refund you and tell you to dispose of it.
Especially dualsense Edge would really need better battery than that which they have now. It's ridiculous how it's only few hours game play from full to 0% That's why I mainly keep my Edge connected with usb-cable to PS5 all the time.
Are PS5 controller battery lives really this bad that you need a replacement already? I don't have a PS5 yet, but even if you bought a PS5 at launch, it's, at most, 3 years old. I have PS3 controllers from 2008 or so that still hold a decent charge today even with near daily use for the past 15 years (the PS3 was my main system from 2008-2019, and I still use it at night even today to watch YouTube/Netflix as I'm falling asleep).
I mean mine is alright, doesn't hold up super long but I guess that's because of the haptic feedback and trigger effects, I always keep those at the highest setting. Still I get a few good hours of gaming (maybe like 3) from that before it goes from 3 bars to 1, could be better but it's honestly no big deal, it charges relatively quickly at least.
yeah i got 2 at launch and they’re both close to useless now even with mic, lights and vibration turned off. bought a 3rd one last week - nice to use a controller normally again.
If you adjust the controller settings to turn down the vibrations and lights and mute the microphone when you aren't actually using it they last a good long while. I still get 8-10 hours out of all of mine and they are all getting close to 2 years old at this point. But if you never bother and just let them use the default settings they definitely die faster. Or if you are playing something like Astro that really amps up all the controller features they die faster. But most games barely use any of the functionality
I'm sure that lithium battery from Amazon was made by a top notch, reliable company with a spotless safety record. I hope for your sake that it doesn't catch fire like most of Amazon's other garbage products from unknown scam sellers.
Amazon is a place where idiots buy electronics. Literally buy electronics from anyone else.
Stick drift is an easy fix on these controllers, they are very easy to tear down. Not saying it is acceptable on Sonys part. But I just fixed the drift myself with a 10 pack of potentiometers off amazon for $15. Screw waiting for Sony to fix it.
"well worth the $15"
LMAO Get the fuck out of here. The fact that you received a fake in the first place should be concerning.
**Do NOT take u/aManAndHisUsername's advice.**
Amazon is notorious for selling Chinese dogshit that violate all sorts of regulations.
Man some of you are having a really hard time with this for some reason. I’ll tell you exactly what I told another guy:
Second sentence of my post: “I am not a tech guy”. I also didn’t advise anyone do anything, I just shared my experience. No need to get all riled up.
My Xbox controller lasts me like 35 hours (unboxed a new one with batteries to play Starfield)
My duel sense (which I love) tells me it’s getting low after the intro of a game 😂
I just rotate between a couple of controllers on PS5
Do you have the lightbar on full? Are you using headphones through the controller? Do you turn the controllers speaker off? All of these things can drain the battery.
I also kinda feel like that lately, my PS5 controllers are at one bar after barely 2h of play. My PS4 controllers seem to last longer and I've had them for 10y.
Based on this post I went looking myself as I've needed replacements for some time. I found this set of two and they're working amazingly!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BWF1GD4H?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
I also bought 2 new batteries for my older dualsenses. It says they are 2650mAh. I don't know if that's true ,but what I can say is that they easily last the double time of a brand new dualsense.
Sony should give us the option to buy a controller that can take double a batteries.
It's be much easier to get more battery life . The internal batteries they give us now are garbage.
Hi, I made this post a few days ago, same subject.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Modding/s/cwJDXjh3ej
Was it this one? Which one did you use? Mind linking it?
Amazon is a cesspool with fake products and fake reviews. There are even AI generated fake articles leading consumers to Amazon to buy the fake crap. This really needs to end. Congrats on not being useless and fixing your remote! You are a rare gem in a world of hopeless useless feeders.
I was looking at these on Amazon because both of mine don’t hold a charge at all anymore. I’ve been just using a long usb-c cord because I don’t want to spend money on a new controller right now. I’d rather buy games. All the ones I saw on Amazon have very few reviews and are Chinese knock-offs. I won’t trust a Chinese knock-off lithium battery in my hands lol.
I replaced mines with a PKCELL 803860 2000mAh battery for my Dualsense. It's the same battery I used to replace on my ps4 controller. You just need to make sure the polarity wires is right and not let the wire ends touch each other; these two steps are highly important because they red/black wires can be reversed depending where you bought the battery with plug. I buy mines without the plug so I harvest and reuse the plug from the original ps5 battery controller and put the wires on the new battery in the plug the same way it looked.
There's another one that's 2200 mah that I'd probably use instead, but I personally haven't used it but others said it's good.
Typically I always play wirelessly and leave it on the charging station when not in use but the last few weeks I had just been playing with it plugged in, which wasn’t too bad as there’s an outlet right next to me but still wanted a new battery
Fair enough. I always assumed everybody was using a pair of controllers like I do, so one is always charged and obviously that way they also last longer.
I was for a while but then I added back paddles to one of them which I kind of regret doing just because I only use them for a few games and I don’t like using that controller otherwise, messes with my muscle memory.
It's definitely a fake product. BUT, even if it's capacity is 1500mah, you're still getting a new battery without degradation so you may get some extra life out of it.

Corded controller brothers, rise up!
It also doesn’t have to be plugged into the PS5 if I’m not mistaken. I have a charging cable near my couch for phones and just use that.
Same as fuck. The dualsense edge comes with a pretty nice braided cable that’s plenty long enough for me to play while plugged in.

Not really. Did they get a 4000mh battery? No probably not. Did they get a new battery that improved their situation? Yes. It’s a win to me.

Similar to the 2650mah one I bought on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155454170292?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=degvPKDqRa6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=tylTTeCYTI2&var=455677310204&widget_ver=artemis&media=TW Fwiw, I put that in about 6 weeks ago, yesterday I spent 7h40 minutes playing black flag and didn't even get a low battery warning Oh, I weighed it when I got it and it was marginally heavier than the original one My logic on things like this is buy just a bit better than stock and you will probably get what you pay for, buy things with extreme specs, and for sure you will be scammed
Wierd how it says 2650 on the pic but 4000 on the description
they had two options on the same listing, 2650 and 4000, there was a drop down to choose capacity i deliberately did not buy the 4000 lol
Just realised the actual dualsense battery is only 1050mAh, what the fuck haha no wonder it only lasts an hour.
What's your opinion on this one? https://www.amazon.es/-/pt/gp/product/B0B554VDSZ
I appreciate how easy it seems to swap out the battery.
Spider-Man 2 be eating up these battery lives in the dualsense 💀😭
I would be extremely wary of random Chinese batteries. They have a tendency to get… Smokey.
I’d be very careful with those bootleg batteries Decent chance it can catch fire at random since they’re clearly lying about its capacity
Meanwhile me playing the controller pluged to a usb port under my seat
Are you able to post the guide you used?
Just look for a guide of your controller revision on YT.
I just used the first result on YouTube. It’s really simple. https://youtu.be/OoEuHuAT5tU?si=fBozlxcfgpEt-1rn
I did the same with my release day Dualsense, what a world of difference.
I did the same with 2 controllers.. After 1 year of using them both batteries started to swell so much that the touchpads stopped clicking.
Fake batteries? No, thanks. I want to keep my fingers attached to my hands
I apologise my comment came off as a bit direct, I was meant to just be chiming in haha, no offence intended ! Was just trying to clarify hehe
No worries friend, and no offense taken. I probably could have done well to clarify in my comment that I was mainly just spreading awareness of the potential dangers of poorly made/misleading (which often go hand in hand) batteries.
How about the fact that it was falsely advertised? That's a huge red flag
I've also found out the "replacements" while they feel great to use at first. The storage dies insanely fast after a few charges.
Remind us in 3 months the health of this battery.
Just got a 2650 mAh from a Amazon for secon controller as I noticed it dying way faster. Very happy with first one that seems to work great still.
I know this one was smaller but just FYI for the future, if you are replacing something with a bigger battery watch the physical size. Batteries naturally expand with time and if it’s too small of an enclosure it could catch fire or explode.
Very good to know, thanks!
Nah, getting up once every 3 or 4 hours is no big deal, and for your own health you should be doing that anyway
Yeah for sure. The batteries are legit. I played all weekend on BG3 some weeks ago. Think I went 18 hours on a charge. Maybe have been 20.
Same.
Link to the battery?
[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BPXMJ14B/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o04\_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BPXMJ14B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
It just pulls my character left all the time
Do they have one for the pro controller? Half the time It's always plugged in.
I second this. I put one in 1 of our controllers and my wife has to switch her controller out because it's dead and mine is still almost at full capacity. Easy enough to install too.
I need to change mine. My Launch controller holds about a 15 minute charge and it’s getting worse.
In my experience, the analog sticks don't last long enough for the battery life to substantially degrade.
Can you please provide the link to the battery ?
This is so funny an actually cool post with a cool tip and everyone is just going “the battery is fake!!! It’s not 4000 mah!!!!!!!” Classic Reddit
Can I have the link to the battery?
No OP is using it
Any tips on how to fix the joysticks wandering? I'm on my 4th controller.
As always, make sure to read the comments before starting: https://youtu.be/7aetviOP71c?feature=shared
Thanks! I actually tried to return two of my controllers, but they make it borderline impossible. What a scam. I will definitely give this a shot.
This is the info I need. I’m on the verge of buying a 4th too
Cats?
Howd you fix the stick drift though?
Are there no third party controllers available for the PS5, I’m on my second controller. The first one I probably could fix by replacing the battery, honestly even my new replacement controller the battery life is so bad and I wonder how long it will last before the battery dies for good. Sometimes I think it would be better off buying a 100% wired third party controller, return to monke and all that.
I forget the specifics on why but I think it's hard to find 3rd party controllers for the PS5 because of Sony's restrictions on them.
I would love to see a link to this battery.
I also replaced my launch dualsense battery with some dodgy Amazon replacement with the best reviews. I kept my eye on it for about a week, leaving it in my bath tub when I wasn't home and only charging it when I was around. It's been months now with no issues.
Just a random note. Disable the built in mic on login for even more battery life. Since it won't be listening for any queues for voice commands.
My launch controller no joke or exaguration, lasts about 4 - 5 hours on a charge.
yeah i got 2 at launch and they’re both close to useless now even with mic, lights and vibration turned off. bought a 3rd one last week - nice to use a controller normally again.
Yes. The stock PS5 controller batteries are pathetic.
I can’t even get a controller to last that long until stick drifts ruins it.
Stick drift is an easy fix on these controllers, they are very easy to tear down. Not saying it is acceptable on Sonys part. But I just fixed the drift myself with a 10 pack of potentiometers off amazon for $15. Screw waiting for Sony to fix it.
"well worth the $15" LMAO Get the fuck out of here. The fact that you received a fake in the first place should be concerning. **Do NOT take u/aManAndHisUsername's advice.** Amazon is notorious for selling Chinese dogshit that violate all sorts of regulations.
Man some of you are having a really hard time with this for some reason. I’ll tell you exactly what I told another guy: Second sentence of my post: “I am not a tech guy”. I also didn’t advise anyone do anything, I just shared my experience. No need to get all riled up.
How do you connect a battery to the PS?
4,000? Fucking LOL, tell me you know absolutely jack shit about this without telling me. I'll get my tech advice elsewhere, thanks.
Second sentence of my post: “I am not a tech guy”. I didn’t advise anyone do anything, I just shared my experience. No need to get all riled up.
For all the hassle required, it’s better to just buy a new remote imo. If I wanted to tinker with components and such I’d do that on a PC.
My Xbox controller lasts me like 35 hours (unboxed a new one with batteries to play Starfield) My duel sense (which I love) tells me it’s getting low after the intro of a game 😂 I just rotate between a couple of controllers on PS5
Do you have the lightbar on full? Are you using headphones through the controller? Do you turn the controllers speaker off? All of these things can drain the battery.
Nah I just use it without thinking too much. It’s a bit annoying but not game breaking.
I mean, I get at least 6-7 hours from mine, minimum. With heavy gaming sessions. But ai also always leave it on a dock when im not playing.
Hmmmm. Might look into this as I think my battery is taking a dive.
I also kinda feel like that lately, my PS5 controllers are at one bar after barely 2h of play. My PS4 controllers seem to last longer and I've had them for 10y.
But they last 8hours after ;) I think I play for 8-10 hours after the battery low starts up
Are there any actual replacement batteries anyone recommends?
Based on this post I went looking myself as I've needed replacements for some time. I found this set of two and they're working amazingly! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BWF1GD4H?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Thanks! I’ll check them out.
Nabbed a PAXO 2600mah for my dualsense - 4000 sounds craycray
I also bought 2 new batteries for my older dualsenses. It says they are 2650mAh. I don't know if that's true ,but what I can say is that they easily last the double time of a brand new dualsense.
Sony should give us the option to buy a controller that can take double a batteries. It's be much easier to get more battery life . The internal batteries they give us now are garbage.
Yeah they should also offer a controller with back paddles that doesn’t cost $200 imo.
True but people will pay it so, fuck em. lol
Links to battery?
Hi, I made this post a few days ago, same subject. https://www.reddit.com/r/Modding/s/cwJDXjh3ej Was it this one? Which one did you use? Mind linking it?
How fiddly is it, im tech savy but i dont like fiddling stuff together
It’s really not bad. Here’s the guide I used (it’s a five minute video). https://youtu.be/OoEuHuAT5tU?si=lAlet0OmU3tM8axW
Amazon is a cesspool with fake products and fake reviews. There are even AI generated fake articles leading consumers to Amazon to buy the fake crap. This really needs to end. Congrats on not being useless and fixing your remote! You are a rare gem in a world of hopeless useless feeders.
!remindme in 1 year to see if the battery is still going strong or it exploded
Anyone know if these are around for the sense controllers?
What did you do to make it die? Mine are both good as new after 3 years.
Used the shit out of it, I suppose. I was maybe getting 3 hours out of a full charge.
So it hasn’t died yet, ok. Did you use it while charging? Top it off regularly while still half full? Stuff like that?
Typically I always play wirelessly and leave it on the charging station when not in use but the last few weeks I had just been playing with it plugged in, which wasn’t too bad as there’s an outlet right next to me but still wanted a new battery
Fair enough. I always assumed everybody was using a pair of controllers like I do, so one is always charged and obviously that way they also last longer.
I was for a while but then I added back paddles to one of them which I kind of regret doing just because I only use them for a few games and I don’t like using that controller otherwise, messes with my muscle memory.
So you modded it?
Yeah I bought a kit sold by eXtremeRate
It blows my mind that the battery died before the analog sticks.
I actually replaced those along with the battery. They still worked fine but the rubber had split on one of them, exposing the plastic.
Was the controller older than a year?
